You and Shigure had an amazing night together filled with laughter and love. You never thought you could be so happy. The food was amazing and you enjoyed every minute of the time you got to spend with Shigure. You both had spent a lot of time just talking about everything and anything until you had to leave because the restaurant closed.

You giggled as you both walked back to Shigure’s house. “I can’t believe we talked there so long.”
Shigure had his arm wrapped around your waist and smiled down at you. “I can’t help it. I love every minute with you and it is rare for us to have time alone like that to just talk and enjoy ourselves.”

You nodded smiling. “I agree. I had so much fun tonight.” You looked up at him. “Thank you Shigure.”

Shigure leaned down and kissed your forehead. “No thank you Kotone. Tonight was amazing. I’ll remember it for the rest of my life.”

You blinked and stopped walking, making him stop as well. “Shigure? You make it sound like this isn’t going to happen again.”

“Oh no, that’s not what I meant.” You knew right away that the smile that Shigure was giving you was forced.

“Shigure.” You placed a hand on his arm. “You don’t think we’ll get to do this again do you? You think that Akito is going to scare me away or erase my memory of you.”

Shigure frowned and light you loved to see dulled from his eyes. “Kotone. You haven’t seen anything yet. Akito won’t give up. He’ll do everything he can.” Shigure pulled you close burying his face in your hair. “I couldn’t bear to see you hurt. I just couldn’t bear it Kotone.” You felt your hair get a bit wet and frowned. He was crying, the always cheerful Shigure was crying.

“Shigure.” You wrapped your arms around him rubbing his back lightly. “The only thing Akito can do that would hurt me is if he rips apart. He can go after my job, my home, I don’t care. I only want to be with you.”

Shigure pulled back a bit so he could look at you. “I told you what he did to Hatori. He could do that to you too.”

“No offense to Hatori, but unlike him I can fight.” You gave him a determined look. “I would never let him hurt me, if for no other reason then to protect you Shigure. So please stop worrying Gure. You’re stuck with me.”

Shigure smiled a bit. “I could get used to that.”

A big smile broke on your face. “Good! Now let’s not ruin our amazing night with talk like this.” You brushed away the stray tears from Shigure’s eyes. “I much rather see that warm smile of yours.”

Shigure smiled. “Of course! Now, let’s go home!” Shigure took your hand and lead you to his house.

“I get to stay over again right?” You didn’t really need to ask though. You had stayed at Shigure’s every since that first night. He was worried about you being home alone. One could never be sure what Akito would do next and the thought of you being alone in a house wasn’t one that Shigure liked. You never questioned it or argued. You felt safe sleeping in Shigure’s house and the kids seemed to enjoy you being there. You trained with Kyo, cooked with Tohru and helped all three when they needed any help with their homework. You smiled at the thought; it was like all of you were one big happy family.

“Yep! Like you said Kotone, we’re stuck together. So I’m kidnapping you and making you stay the night.”

You giggled. “I’m okay with that.” Shigure squeezed your hand lightly with a large grin on his face. Yes, that’s right. They were your precious family and you would do everything you could to protect all of them and keep them safe.
