“What the hell are you doing here?” Derrick yelled, punching Jason’s face who knows how many times. Jason was struggling and hissed with each hit he got to his face. But Jason suddenly kicked Derrick off of him and bared his fangs. My eyes widened as I just stood there, frozen on the spot. I couldn’t move. It was like my feet were nailed to the floor.
“You killed my mate, so I’ll do the same with you!” Jason lunged for Derrick who pulled out a silver stake from his coat pocket.
I couldn’t stop the movement I did next. In less than a second, I was tackling Derrick to the ground. The silver stake fell out of his hand and rolled out onto the road. I straddled Derrick and held him down.
He stared up at me with wide eyes. “Terra,” he whispered and lifted a hand to me cheek. “Are you ok?”
I raised my eyebrow and stifled a laugh. “I’m fine.”
When I thought Derrick was calm, I stood up and helped him off the ground. I felt his body tense when he was about to lunge at Jason again, who was watching the two of us.
“Don’t Derrick,” I demanded, placing my hand on his chest and felt his heartbeat. “It’s not worth it.”
Derrick put his arm around my waist and pulled me close to him. Glaring at Jason, he growled. “Don’t you ever come near her again. You hear me! Because I swear I wont let anyone stop me.” He tightened his grip on me.
Jason only smiled darkly and chuckled. “Oh, this wont be the last time you see me. Trust me. I will kill Terra and I’ll do it right in front of you.”
He didn’t know.
“She didn’t love you Jason,” I said quietly, not really trusting my voice.
He shook his head and turned away. Before he disappeared into the night, he said, “I don’t believe you.”
Derrick and I stood there in the front yard for a minute. Then Derrick looked down at me. “I’m staying with you tonight.”
I smiled and punched his chest. “You were going to do that anyway.”
Every morning I would find Derrick in my room. He had told me he comes to my house in the middle of the night and just watch me. I told him it was creepy but he made some smartass comment.
“Come on, let’s go inside before Jason comes back with an army of vampires.”
“He would really do that, would he?” I asked worriedly.
Derrick ruffled my hair. “I hope not.”
When I walked inside, I looked for Chris, wondering why he hadn’t heard all the yelling. I soon found out. Chris was lying on the lounge, with head phones in his ears and he was pretending to play imaginary drums.
I was about to rip them out of his ears but Derrick seized my hand and led me towards the staircase. “Leave him, I want some privacy,” he whispered in my ear.
“That’s all you ever want,” I mumbled.
Derrick closed the door and I sat on my bed, thinking. Not about Jason but the whole Joseph mess. I didn’t know whether to tell Derrick about Joseph. What would happen if I did?
“What’s wrong, little vampire?” Derrick asked, sitting down next to me.
I blinked. “Nothing.”
Suddenly, I felt his lips on me and his arms around me. My lips seemed to react by themselves when Derrick kissed me. That sounded strange.
The kiss was starting to feel good but I pulled away. “Derrick, I think we should look at your past.” I didn’t know where the words came from. It was like someone else was in my body. I was seeing everything but not controlling what I was doing.
“Why, what’s there to look at?” he said heavily and leaned in to kiss me again.
“Derrick, I think we should.”
He groaned and decided to kiss down my neck, which made it more difficult for me to speak.
“Derrick, there might be something about me.”
He stopped. “What do you mean; there might be something about you?”
Derrick lifted his head and reached up to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. “Terra?”
I took a deep breath. “Alright Derrick, you’re not going to like this but earlier tonight but you know that guy, who claims I’m his soul mate?”
“Yes,” Derrick growled through teeth.
“He was here tonight. Now before you get angry! Just listen to me. His name is Joseph. Apparently he has known me for ages. What he said was,” and I quoted. “‘Me and you go way back, maybe about six hundred years ago.”
Something flashed in Derrick’s eye and I caught what it meant. “Oh my God, you know something, don’t you?”
Derrick made a sexy half smile. “Look, little vampire, I may know something, ok. Now what do you want to do. Talk about this whole bride thing that will not ever happen. You are mine. Or do you want k kiss some more?”
Every time, he asked me that question, he never let me answered it. I wrapped my arms around Derrick’s neck and pulled him closer to me. His kiss made me forget what we just talking about. My mind went hazy and I was filled with want. Derrick’s hand brushed up against my sides and I gasped when his hands gently brushed against the side of my breasts. I ran my hands down his chest and gripped the hem of his shirt. Derrick seized my hands.
“Derrick,” I gasped, needing him badly.
He shook his head. “No, not yet.”
I groaned but Derrick chuckled and kissed me again. He was teasing. That’s what he was doing and I hated that.
Derrick leaned forward and I leaned back against the pillows. My lips became bruised swollen but I couldn’t get enough of him.
“You know, I knew there was something wrong and I don’t like another man kissing my bride.” Joseph was suddenly in my room for the second time that night.
Oh, this couldn’t be good.
