This isn’t a story about a girl and her mother, this isn’t a story about a girl and her father, but this is a story about what not to say, because if you do. The lady in that old house will get you.
Sophy: Mom where is my lunch?
Stacy: I don’t know sweetie, look in the frige
(I go and open the refrigerator)
Sophy: Oh ok I see it now thank you mom, see you later
Stacy: wait are you doing something after school?
(I stops and looks back)
Sophy: No why?
Stacy: Because, I want you to spend some time with you father. Honey you haven’t even seen him in nearly a year. And you haven’t spoken to him in over 5 months.
(I look down not wanting to do what my mother said)
Stacy: come on sweetie, please for me
(I didn’t want to do it but I knew that if I didn’t my mom would not like that, she would make up something to ground me.)
(Huffing and puffing)
Sophy: Fine, I’ll do it (talking with attitude)
Stacy: Hey watch the way you talk to me young lady.
(I talking under her breath)
Sophy: yeah and you watch the way you talk to me old lady.
Stacy: Excuse me.
Sophy: nothing mom, nothing
(I leave the house not wanting to go see my dad later, but I know that if I don’t then I will get grounded. When I got to school I went over to my normal group of friends that were hanging around some people I had never seen before.)
Sophy: Hi guys, who is that?
Ashley: Well that is Amanda, and that’s Oliver he’s new here, but we was just thinking about adding them into our group.
Sophy: Well how can you do that without my permission?
Ashley: Um I didn’t know that I needed your permission to add someone, because from my knowledge I’m the leader of this clique—
(I cut her off)
Sophy: whoa, hold up, this is my group. The only reason you are even in it is because they begged me to.
(Pointing at Elise and Jessica)
Jessica: Um well we just thought that since you have been leader for a while that we should change who runs this clique.
(I started to yell at them)
Sophy: how can you do that, before me you two where just a bunch of lame kids who got picked on.
Elise: well I’m sorry that you feel like you make all of the decisions around here.
Sophy: well from what I know I do, you can ask anyone around here that.
(Jessica goes to some random girl and asks her)
Jessica: so who do you think runs this school?
Girl #1: Her over there, Sophy.
Jessica: Why do you say her?
Girl #1: because she’s pretty, and everyone likes her.
(Jessica getting fed up with the girl stomps away with rage.)
(I yell down the hall)
Sophy: I told you so.
Elise: well that was only one girl.
Sophy: maybe, but that one girl thought so why wouldn’t the rest?
(Elise looks down and just walks away from me.)
Sophy: yeah that’s what I thought.
(I didn’t realize that I had just made the only group of friends I had go away. I had to find some other friends to torment but I had to get through this day first. I wanted to start off fresh with new people tomorrow.)
(After school I leave and head for my dads house, I slowly step on the porch when his wife opens the door)
Danniel: Hi Sophy, you made it. Your father wanted to see you.
Sophy: oh well that’s what I’m here for.
(I go inside not wanting to be near her, so I move as fast as I could. When I got to my dads room he was still lying in bed.)
Sophy: dad Why aren’t you up? Its 4:00 in the after noon.
George: well sweetie, I just haven’t been feeling well lately, I wanted to see you because I wanted to do something with you before you get to old to want to hang out with me.
(He began to laugh)
Sophy: Dad you know I’ll never get to old.
George: But you haven’t even seen me in a whole year. And you haven’t said a word to me since 3 months ag—
Sophy: 5 months
George: well how ever long it’s been I miss you. I want to do something fun with you. What do you like to do?
(I stop to think of all things I am now interested in now that I am no longer 13.)
Sophy: well dad I like to go to haunted houses.
George: Haunted houses, well we can’t do that. It’s not Halloween.
(I stop to think of other ideas but nothing comes to mind. But then I remember an article I had read in my journalism class.)
Sophy: oh well dad I read about this place that was supposed to be haunted and I think we could go there.
George: what if something happens?
Sophy: but dad if we do go I can do a story over it for journalism class. And then maybe the class won’t think that I’m just in there to get a good grade for doing nothing.
(He looked to the side and started to think of a reason to say no, but he couldn’t)
George: uhh, well I guess we can do that why not.
Sophy; thank you so much dad.
(I ran to him and hugged him.)
(I sat there and talked to my dad for at least 2 hours but it started to get late and I went home. My dad had told me that we were going to go this weekend. I was excited not only to go to that house but because I will be with my dad.)
