(Aubrey’s POV)

My time back home in Dallas was amazing and I needed it. I got to see all of my family face-to-face because let’s be honest, Skype conversations with your family are completely different than actual face-to-face conversations with your family. I also took the 3 hour drive to Austin and saw all my friends who were still at the University of Texas. That was fun too, because just being back on campus brought back so many memories of me and my friends doing a whole bunch of dumb things that I now want to do back when I get to Vancouver. Still here I am on my way to Raleigh to see Caleb and go to the NHL All-Star game (which is the most important thing here).

So I’m on the plane just looking outside the window when the captain comes on and tell us that we’re about to descend so that our seats and trays should be in their upright and locked position and that the flight attendants would be coming around to pick up any trash that we have. So I along with the businessman sitting next to me put our trays up and pull our seats up so that we could descend. Once we descend we listen to the flight attendants welcome us to the Raleigh/Durham area, what the weather was like, and where we could pick up our luggage at. Once the plane stopped and we got the okay to leave the plane, I just decided to sit and wait until almost everyone got off the plane. Once it seemed that everyone had left, I grabbed my bag from the overhead compartment and then left the plane. While leaving I said goodbye to the flight attendants and the pilot and then finally made my way into the airport. Inside the airport I just followed the signs to the baggage claim.

While I was walking I spotted Caleb so I run up to him and once I get close to him, I drop my bag and then jump into his arms and give him the biggest hug ever since we hadn’t seen each other since this summer which, for us, seems like an eternity. So we finally let go of each other and he puts me down, and we being walking here.

“And to think, I was supposed to be the one to welcome you to Raleigh Aubrey, not the other way around,” Caleb said as we continued to walk to the baggage claim.

“I know but I haven’t seen you in so long, I just felt the need to hug you like that.”

“Well it’s a good thing there aren’t any paparazzi here, or else that would have caused some major drama between you and Robert.”

“Yeah, but I feel like they will start something anyway since him and Kristen are in Brazil filming those infamous honeymoon scenes.” I said as we finally made it to baggage claim and were now waiting on my suitcase.

“How do you feel about that knowing that he’s with his ex in a place such as Brazil filming a pretty intense scene?”

“Okay I guess. Then again you have to think he with his ex in Brazil and I’m here with you.”

“Yeah but there’s a difference.”

“What’s so different?”

“Sometimes I question your intelligence sometimes Aubrey,” I then lightly push him and he continues. “First other than the fact that they both start with R, there is a HUGE difference between Raleigh and Rio. Plus you have the reasons why you two are with your exes. You’re here to see a simple hockey game and use me for a free place to stay.” I then picked up my suitcase and we began walking before I said anything.

“Hey you offered me a place to stay. I would have been okay staying in a hotel, it would have made Operation Profess-My-Love-to-Jordan-Staal that much easier.” He then rolled his eyes at me before continuing.

“Okay I guess you have a point there. Still getting back to what we were talking about. The worse thing we’re going to do is probably share some food or something. Robert and Kristen, on the other hand, are probably going to be filming those sex scenes. It’s going to be intense, and the tabloids are going to be eating that up.”

“I guess, but we trust each other and Robert promised me that nothing would happen between him and Kristen outside of what they’re told to do for the movie.”

“If you say so Aubrey,” we then made it to his car and he started driving to his place.

On the drive to his place we just talked about what we were going to do tonight after the skills competition and which team we thought was going to win the actual All-Star game tomorrow. Then we kind of argued over which one of us would be sleeping in his bed and on the couch. It seemed like neither of us were going to back down so we decided we would wait until that night because one of us would be too tired and lazy to walk all the way to his room and would just crash on the couch. We’ll see.

We finally make it to his place and he shows me around and then introduced me to some of his fellow teammates who lived in the building. After that we finally made it to his apartment that we shared with his teammate Jeff. I then got to meet Jeff and he was really nice. We then joked about him needing to score some more because I did have him on my fantasy team, and he promised me that he would just for me. He and Caleb then decided to make fun of Operation Profess-My-Love-to-Jordan-Staal, but they did promise to help me out if they could. After that I called my family, Ryan and Josh, and Robert to tell them I made it safely to Raleigh. I was able to talk to my parents as well as Ryan and Josh, but I had to leave a voicemail for Robert which was kind of expected. After that I went into the living room with Jeff and Caleb and we just talked about the All-Star game while we ate so pizza (typical guys ordering food).

After that Jeff had to head out since he was going to be a part of the festivities but he did promise us that we would see him later on tonight. Once Jeff left Caleb and I just played some video games and then we both fell asleep (me on the floor and Caleb on the couch). We finally woke up only because our phones went off at the same time so we answered them. As much as I wished it was Robert on the other line, it was my brother Collin, telling me not to do anything stupid. Once he said that I decided not to tell him about Operation Profess-My-Love-to-Jordan-Staal. After that we both got off our phones and then decided that it was time for us to get ready for tonight’s events. I had showered and everything and now came the hard part.

“Caleb,” I yelled and he came running into his room.

“What,” he asked looking at me.

“What shirt should I wear,” he just looked at me like I was crazy.

“Are you serious Aubrey? You made it seem as if you were in actual trouble.”

“This is serious Caleb. I could get in trouble if I pick out the wrong shirt.”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“Think of it, I’m going to be meeting tons of hockey players tonight and if I wear the wrong shirt it could give them the wrong impression. I was thinking about wearing Kesler’s, but he’s somehow managed to piss off everyone in the NHL. Then I could wear Brad Richards but that would piss off Pacific division rivals. Plus there is no way I’m wearing Patrick Kane’s since that will give him the impression that I actually like him which I don’t. And then I could wear Jordan Staal, but I don’t want to come off as crazy.”

“Because you don’t sound like it already, what’s wrong with what you have on?”

“A tank top really Caleb? Do you realize how cold it is out there? I don’t want to be known as the idiot who wore a tank top.”

“Fine what about this long-sleeve shirt. Not many people are going to associate you with some team if you’re wearing this navy blue shirt,” he said handing me the shirt. I then grabbed it and put it on before saying anything.

“You better be right Caleb, or I’m blaming you.”

“Fine, but let’s go before it gets too crazy.” I nodded and grabbed my things (which consisted of my coat, wristlet, phone, and camera). Then we got into Caleb’s car and headed to the RBC Center to watch the skills competition and meet some of the players. Once we got to the arena it was a MADHOUSE.

I thought the first game for the Stars or Canucks was full of people, but this is ridiculous. Everywhere you turn there are fans. It kind of reminds me of walking around the Twilight set, but instead the fans are kind of roped off from everything. Plus I feel more comfortable since there are fellow hockey fans, and not Twilight fans who I feel I really don’t have anything in common with.

So here we are just walking around and I’m taking in all the sights. I’m not brought out of my little daydream until I hear someone call my name. I look and see that it’s Jeff who called me. So I walk up to, probably annoying some fans who think I’m cutting them, and give him a hug. I then step to the side so he can still sign autographs.

“So, what do you think,” he asked me.

“It’s crazy. I wish I would have gone to the one in Dallas seeing as it would have prepared me for this.”

“Tell me about it. Do you know how many times I’ve been asked to go to prom?”

“Well that’s what you get for being hockey’s version of Justin Bieber,” I said which caused him to groan and me to laugh.

“Just for that you can find Jordan Staal yourself Aubrey.”

“Okay, I’m sorry. I take it back.”

“Thanks.”

“Well I’ll let you get back to signing autographs Jeff.”

“Alright,” I was about to walk away when Jeff said something. “Hey are you going to that big party after the skills competition?”

“I don’t think so. It all depends on what Caleb wants to do since he’s driving everywhere.”

“Well in that case I guess you are, see ya Aubrey.” I then wave and walk around some more. I see so many players its ridiculous. In face I have taken pictures with some of my favorite players and some that aren’t my favorite (i.e. Kesler and Patrick). I finally met up with Caleb and we were about to head into the arena when he told me he had a surprise for me. So he kind of covered my eyes with his face and led me somewhere.

I should mention that Caleb sucks at this. We have fallen about 4 times and I’m pretty sure people are thinking we’re either drunk, crazy, or both. Note to self, never let Caleb do this to me again.

“Caleb, come on take your hands off me. I can cover my own eyes, and not trip on a flat surface.”

“We’re almost there. I promise it will be worth it. Just a few more steps, okay stop. Are you ready?”

“Yes,” he then takes his hands off me and in front of me is Eric Staal. Talk about a major letdown.

So I talk to Eric mainly about him having to deal with Caleb’s antics. We also talked about the fact that Caleb needs to work on his description of me because I don’t come off as some crazed fan. I have to make a mental note that I need hurt Caleb for describing me this way. We then talk about his family, mainly the love of my life besides Robert.

“So, I hear you’re a fan of one of my brothers,” Eric says probably having heard of my love of Jordan numerous times.

“Yeah I am, he’s a really good player. Almost as good as you are.” That caused Eric to laugh.

“Hey you don’t have to suck up to him. We all know I’m the better Staal brother,” and in walked my long time crush Jordan Staal. I was holding in my excitement for as long as I could but I couldn’t.

“OH MY GOSH, YOU’RE JORDAN STAAL!!! I FREAKING LOVE YOU!!” And that’s when everyone started laughing at me but I didn’t care. This is the guy I have been crushing on since I hit puberty and realized that boys no longer had cooties.

“So is this how Operation Profess-My-Love-to-Jordan-Staal was supposed to go,” Caleb whispered in my ear. Honestly, I had this thought-out plan but obviously this wasn’t it.

“Shut up Caleb,” I whispered and then Jordan made his way towards me. I should mention that I am freaking out by now.

“Well it’s very nice to meet you Aubrey,” he then engulfs me in a huge hug. Man I could stay like this forever. We finally pull apart and I don’t want to let go. “Hopefully I’ll be seeing you later on tonight at the after skills competition party,” and all I do is nod.

“Jordan would you mind if Aubrey got a picture with you,” Caleb asked and Jordan nodded. I have to remember to thank Caleb for that. So I gave Caleb my camera and he also took my phone and started taking pictures with them. After about 10 pictures I decided that was enough and thanked Jordan one more time and told him I would see him later. After that Caleb and I left and we went inside the arena.

Once in the arena I looked at the pictures that we on my phone and were very pleased with them. I then decided to post them on to Facebook and Twitter. After that the festivities started and I just kept my focus on that. About halfway through there was a little break so Caleb left to get something to eat and I decided to call Robert.

“Hello,” Robert said kind of in an irritated kind of way. I wonder what was going on with him.

“Hey Robert, how’s Rio?”

“It’s fine, how’s Raleigh?”

“It’s amazing; you won’t believe the time I’m having here…”

“I bet,” he said after I said it’s amazing which kind of took me by surprise.

“What do you mean by that?”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Okay I know something is wrong with Robert because he never talks to me like that. And there was no way I was going to allow him to talk to me like that.

“That snarky I bet comment.”

“Well you would be the same way if you knew your girlfriend was parading around and throwing herself around tons of guys.”

“What makes you think I’m doing that?”

“Please I’ve been keeping up with your Facebook posts and Tweets. I know you’re hooking up with people behind my back.”

“You have got to be kidding me Robert. I’m not doing anything.”

“Oh yeah, what about all those Twit Pics?”

“It was only one, and it was with Jordan Staal, who you know I like.”

“So you admit that you like him!” Okay now I really hate where this conversation is. I can take him telling me things that aren’t true but when you yell at me for no reason, that’s it.

“Yes Robert, I do like him. But you knew about that from the very beginning. Besides even though you don’t believe me, all I have done is take pictures with these guys. Since when it is a problem to do that? You don’t see me getting mad when you take pictures with other girls. I don’t know what has gotten into you to make you feel so insecure and threatened with me hanging out with other people and then lashing out on me about it. But I’ll tell you one thing; I’m not going to take it. Especially since I’m NOT doing ANYTHING with ANYONE. So call me when you stop being such a paranoid, jealous, ass.”

I then hung up on him and that was when Caleb came back with our food.

“Hey you okay, you seem kind of mad,” he asked as he sat down and handed me the nachos.

“No, I’m good,” I said as I took a nacho and started eating it.

“Alright, so I meant to ask you do you want to go to that after-party? I know you don’t really like going to after-parties ever since the Blackhawks Game and the Kesler thing, but Jeff and Jordan asked and I would promise nothing bad will happ…” I had to interrupt him.

“Caleb it’s fine. In fact, I want to go. I need to have a little fun.” Plus anything that will get my mind off what just happened with Robert and to get me closer to Jordan Staal, I thought.

After that Caleb and I finished our food and watched the rest of the skills competition, which was both entertaining and funny to watch. And then headed to the after party where I was going to have a good time with new friends and not even think about Robert.
