[50] They're Weird, Rude, Confusing, And Clingy. Not To Mention They're Werewolves
A/N: Okay. I lied. I'll post another chapter today ^.^ Lol. Someone on wattpad commented using the term "Chalicia" pfthaha.
Remember how Chase said he’d never hurt me? Well months later, he broke that promise. I’m sure he didn’t mean to, but it still happened.
Chase, Jasmine, Micah, my mom, and I were at Zoey’s graduation one night and then the topic of colleges came up. Zoey was going to a community college and so was Micah since he had to stay near home and take care of some of his needy family. Somehow the topic got flipped to us Juniors. Jasmine said she wanted to go to NYU and so did I, but then Chase shocked all of us by saying he didn’t know which college he would attend and he didn’t know when he’d attend it because he was leaving school for senior year and moving to an entirely different place.
My heart shattered at this.
***
[THREE YEARS LATER]
“Anything else?” I asked Jasmine.
“Nope. You’ve done enough,” she smiled, cheerfully.
We were planning her wedding. I was her maid of honor. Yes, it was to Eli. Going off to college didn’t really change anything for them. NYU wasn’t far from our hometown anyways. Eli stayed there and ran back in forth to the pack if he needed to, but Wes was currently in charge for the third year running and Nathaniel was his prodigy along with Jackson still being stubborn about his turn. The pack grew in some numbers even though three pack members moved out, but they were still leaders when—no, IF they ever came back.
“So Zoey’s still gonna come?” Jasmine asked as we walked out of the coffee shop we were planning at. Not “planning”, but reassuring.
“Of course. She wouldn’t miss it for the world,” I answered. Maybe. Zoey was dealing with a problem…a rather large problem. Two actually. First it’s battling with Micah on and off as their relationship made no sense to anyone in this universe. And second is her pregnancy scare that she’s somehow hiding from mom and everyone, but me. She missed her period, but the little pregnancy test says she’s negative. Considering those things are wrong sometimes, she’s gonna go to a check up with an actual doctor and what do you know? She’s making me go with her for “emotional support” or some sh!t.
“I’m so excited,” Jasmine squealed out of nowhere.
“I can tell,” I laughed, amused. She was getting married in precisely a week. I couldn’t really blame them for getting married. Their mating actually worked out unlike some people’s. Ahem. But this is about them. No one else. Just two love birds that will literally spend forever together…but he’s not marking her until she fully matures in a couple of years. And of course I think that is perfectly reasonable. So does Eli. Jasmine? Not so much.
“Is Torrance still going?” Jasmine asked.
“Yes ma’am,” I answered. Oh Torrance. My boyfriend Torrance Shaw. He was an English major and was in his junior year of college at NYU as well. He was…amazing. In any way possible. He was an all around gentleman. He didn’t have his multiple mood swings, or anything like that. He was a great boyfriend for an ongoing nine months.
“What about Jackson?” she asked.
“Of course,” I nodded. My brother was just so funny. He was what any girl would dream for in a brother! He teased me, but was strictly protective. He had a fun side when he wanted to, and rarely got serious for a long period of time. He was still in the pack, but he hid his immortality from his father and doubted his abilities all the time. Collin was still cool. He’s still teaching out my hometown’s nearby university and was completely surprised when his son took up his class on mythology. Jackson’s excuse: he needed “a club”.
“What about—”
“Stop worrying about it, Jas,” I laughed. “Geez. Everything’s done. I did that for you for a reason; not so you could worry about it getting done.”
“Right,” she paused. She let out her breath in laughter. “You’re good at this maid of honor stuff.”
“Of course I am,” I agreed, sticking my tongue out at her. We continued down the street and an arm wrapped around my waist and a hand over my eyes. I sniffed the air and smelt a familiar cologne.
“Hey, babe,” I said, humored.
“How do you always know it’s me?” he asked. He looked down at me with dark brown eyes and his light brown and dark blond hair.
“Maybe because I’ve known you for so long?” I figured.
“Or the fact that you drown yourself in that God awful scent every day,” Jasmine added. He narrowed his eyes, playfully, at her.
“I’m gonna go with your answer,” he said to me, leaning down to kiss me. I pulled away, remembering something.
“Answer! Sh1t. I forgot to study for that stupid English test in two days,” I hissed.
“Don’t worry, I’ll help you,” Torrance assured, kissing my cheek as he wrapped his arms around my waist from behind. I leaned against his chest as we walked.
“You two? Studying together in a dorm by yourselves. Yeah. Sounds productive,” Jasmine joked with a serious tone.
“You know you’ll be there to watch,” Tor said, suggestively. I’m sure he was winking right now as Jasmine scoffed, but I just smiled at the immaturity.
“Actually, no, I won’t be,” Jasmine informed. “I’m going back to town for once so I can see Eli.”
“Yes, because you never see Eli,” Torrance reminded, sarcastically. I lightly hit his shoulder. Jasmine glared back at him. He loves messing with her. I laughed at both of them and then I saw a familiar face pass by an alley. I paused.
“What?” Torrance laughed.
“I thought I just saw…no. Never mind,” I shook my head. Torrance shrugged and Jasmine questioned me with her eyes. She knew something was wrong. I knew something was wrong, but obviously I was mistaken.
Or at least I thought so until I saw him standing in front of me with the same familiar backpack over his shoulder.
“Can I help you?” Torrance asked him. My jaw tensed up as his piercing eyes went to mine.
“Alicia Lindros. What a coincidence,” Riley chimed. Of course he looked the same. Vampires never age.
“Mmh…” I hummed unenthused.
“Riley?” Jasmine asked. He smiled pleasantly at Jasmine.
“What are you doing here?” I asked him, sternly. He couldn’t cause a scene here. There’s too many people. And isn’t he supposed to be on the run? How’d he end up in New York?
“I was just trying to achieve everything on my ‘Things To Do Before I Die’ list,” he answered. Why don’t I believe that?
“Good luck with that,” I said, not at all meaningful as I grabbed Torrance’s hand and hauled him off with Jasmine in front of us.
“Wait,” Riley called, grabbing my arm. I turned around and jerked out of his grip. Torrance immediately got pissed off and protective.
“Watch it,” he threatened. Riley’s humor shown through and he started to laugh. He turned to me.
“Alicia, I worry about you. At first I thought you were insane because of getting with Wes, and then you had Cane of all people, but now this guy?” he laughed, pointing loosely at Torrance. “Maybe I was better off for you anyways.”
“Maybe you’re better off dead?” I suggested, rolling my eyes. “Seriously. What the h3ll are you doing here?”
His eyes flashed to Torrance and then back to me.
“Maybe you’ll find out soon,” he shrugged before turning and leaving. What was that supposed to mean?
“Who was that?” Torrance asked once I turned around to walk away.
“Riley. He used to be a friend of mine, but then I found out he was a complete b4st4rd,” I answered, honestly.
“Your ex-boyfriend?”
“Ha. Pft. Yeah right. He wishes. You know that I only have one ex, and it’s not even like we’re exes,” I reminded. Wes.
“Well what’d he do to make you hate him so much?” he asked, curious.
“Can’t say.”
“Wow. That bad,” he commented. I nodded with wide eyes and continued on my route to my dorm.
***
“He’s there?” Wes asked over the phone.
“Yeah. I saw him and everything,” I repeated. I was informing him on Riley, whom I thought would be dead by council already…hopefully.
“What’d he say?”
“I don’t know. He was bad-mouthing Torrance and then didn’t give me a blunt answer on why he was here,” I answered.
“Serves him right,” Wes agreed. “About Torrance I mean.”
“Wes,” I warned. He didn’t like Torrance. Torrance didn’t even do anything to me or him. Wes just hates him just because. He doesn’t need a legitimate reason to hate someone apparently.
“I was kidding,” he teased. “Might as well get it all out before I see him at the wedding.”
“Whatever.”
“I can’t believe they’re actually getting married,” Wes commented.
“They’re soul mates, so what?”
Wow. That was hypocritical of me to say.
“That doesn’t mean sh!t. You don’t see me getting hitched to April do you? I am twenty years old, d4mmit. I have a whole live to live before I’m tied down to one person,” he retorted.
“Too late,” I mumbled.
“Says who? I can still do what I want. No bond, no rules,” he stated.
“Hey,” I heard a new voice say in a warning tone toward Wes.
“Hey April!” I greeted over the phone.
“Hi, Alicia. What’s up?” she asked.
“Nothing much. Just—”
“If you two are gonna have a conversation, find some other time to do it. I’m trying to talk to her. Shoo,” Wes interrupted, telling April.
“Harsh,” I commented.
“Not really.”
“How does she stand you?” I asked.
“Don’t know, don’t care,” he rushed. “What are you doing tomorrow?”
“I think Torrance is—”
“UGH,” Wes groaned.
“You didn’t let me finish,” I recalled.
“My apologies toward my hatred at him,” Wes said, sarcastically. I scoffed.
“He’s getting fitted for his tux for the wedding,” I finished form earlier. “So I think I’ll be studying.”
“Ew. For what?” he asked. I could see his nose scrunched up in disgust without even being near him.
“Some of us are at a university,” I reminded.
“Oh right. You’re a nerd, loser. Sorry. I forgot,” he replied.
“Apology not accepted,” I humored.
“Yeah right. You still love me,” he rambled fast. “I have something to tell you tomorrow night.”
“Concerning…?”
“You’ll find out,” he said.
“Uh huh…”
“Just be at your dorm tomorrow. No funny business with Torrance,” he demanded.
“Yes sir,” I laughed. “Bye, lame-o.”
“Love you too, Loser,” he said before hanging up. As you can tell, we haven’t really changed.

Wes Knight is a LIAR. He didn’t even come. His excuse was that he had something to take care of, but what does a pack of werewolves have to take care of when there were no threatening vampires or witches in a 100 mile radius of their mass territory?! Whatever.
In the mean time, I was studying. Torrance went to his tux fitting earlier, but now he was hanging out with some of his friends. I was alone at home with Jasmine out of town and Torrance out in the town. Great.
Hours of studying my for stupid English test tomorrow, I crashed. But I was awoken by a text from someone that I hadn’t heard from in a long time.
UNKNOWN NUMBER: Hey. ‘member me? (: -Carina
Me: WTFH
Carina: :D?
Me: No ._.
Carina: Do u kno who this is?
Me: I’m not stupid…
Carina: so…:D?
Me: NO.
Carina: Why not D: ?!
Me: CUZ YOU JUST WOKE ME UP. LEAVE ME ALONE.
I know it’s harsh, but she’s been gone for nearly three years with her brothers. At least one of her brothers actually informed me a week or so before they left. She just left without a goodbye to me. It hurt. But I’m starting to question why she’s even texting me in the first place. Especially at eight fifteen in the morning—sh!t. My test is in fifteen minutes! I rushed around my dorm for all my stuff before I dashed out the door and practically ran through the entire campus to my English class to make it on time for the test. Sometimes I hate my English teacher. He says “we have a test” and doesn’t give us any clue on the topic. It’s just from “something we learned, or from the book”. Haha right? NO. It meant we had to study basically the whole book on a two day’s notice. But this test grade was a “big percentage” apparently.
My teacher stared at his watch as he waited literally for it to be 8:30 am. Pisses me off sometimes…
“Good morning, students,” he greeted. There were a few grumbles and I could tell my classmates were just as fu**ing thrilled as I was. They looked like they were up all night as well. There were a few of us here. Maybe the other half of the class overslept like I was about to.
“As you may know, it’s testing day,” he said thrilled. “Please present a sheet of blank paper on your desk with nothing else except a pen.”
We all did it and waited for our repetitive instructions that we received every single test.
“Write your name on the paper with the test title,” he instructed. We all obeyed and then waited. “Now pass them up.”
Wait. What?
“You heard me. Pass your papers forward,” he ordered. We all hesitantly passed our papers down to the front row and to the farthest right desk in a pile. How were we supposed to do a test without our paper? Stupid professor.
“You’ve all received a hundred for studying you’re a$$es off, yet still managing to make it to class,” our teacher congratulated. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. “And in note of that, I’m busy and you all are tired. You’re free to leave class, but if you see any of your classmates that didn’t show up in class today, be sure to inform them that the test was the hardest yet.”
If I could, I’d kill this professor for misuse of psychological demotion. I grumbled to myself and got up to leave. This guy. GRRR.
“Ms. Lindros,” he addressed. I stopped and turned on my heels to face him.
“Sir?” I asked.
“How are you and Mr. Shaw?” he asked.
“Perfectly fine. How’s your wife?” I asked. He loved Torrance. Creepily loved. Like a son of course…but they weren’t related; Torrance was just that good of an English freak.
“She’s better…this week,” he answered. She had cancer. They were battling it together. I’ve met his wife. She’s a nice lady in her forties. She’s as sweet as candy. She didn’t deserve cancer. But she did deserve an anonymous fund for all of her treatment. No one knows where it came from. But it was generous.
“Well I’ll see you in class on Monday,” he concluded after our talk. If he had this nice side in his class, we’d get along, but…unfortunately he’s a tough teacher.
***
“Wanna go out sometime?” I heard a girl ask from down the hall as walked to my dorm after a day of school for my second year. I rounded the corner and saw the scene.
“Oh yeah totally,” the familiar boy answered as the petite girl smiled up to him. “Let me just go ask my girlfriend…”
I laughed as the girl rolled her eyes and left.
“That was mean,” I told Wes as I walked past him to my dorm.
“It was pretty fun if I do say so myself,” he laughed. I opened my door and threw my bag down before sitting in my chair. Wes followed me in.
“You said you’d be here yesterday,” I reminded him as he sat on my bed.
“Something came up,” he shrugged.
“Right…”
I put my work on my desk and started to use my laptop with a sigh.
“How’d your test go?” Wes asked.
“I did not know that this time he meant ‘write your name on your paper and pass it up’ instead of a hard test worth like 45%,” I answered. “Nice to know you remembered though.”
“Of course,” he beamed. I spun in my chair and started some of my work for school. Suddenly I was spun back around and Wes leaned down to me.
“Let’s go out,” he suggested.
“Weren’t you here to tell me something? Not offer to take me out?” I recalled.
“I can tell you at other places…” he grumbled. His eyes held humor in its blue color. I bit my lip. He gave me a pained look before standing up straighter.
“Leese!” Torrance’s voice called, knocking on the door before opening it. “Oh. Hey, Wes…”
“Mm-hmm…” Wes nodded. And so the hatred continues. “So me and the guys are gonna take Alicia out tonight, so you can just leav—”
“And what if I was taking Alicia out tonight?” Torrance interrupted.
“Then fu** your plans cuz she’s going out,” Wes responded.
“Stop it,” I warned. “You guys are ridiculous.”
“He’s ridiculous!” they accused at each other. I scoffed playfully. They need to grow up.
“So who’s it gonna be?” Wes asked.
“Her boyfriend against…you? Tough choice,” Torrance answered.
“I didn’t ask you,” Wes sneered.
“Neither. I think Jasmine and I are going out,” I informed.
“For what?!” They asked.
“We don’t need a reason,” I said.
“But I need to talk to you,” Wes whined.
“You could’ve done that last night, but you didn’t show up. Not my fault,” I reminded. I think I heard Torrance laugh at that.
“But it’s important,” Wes added.
“Okay then tell me some other time, I guess,” I compromised.
“I can’t,” he said. “Cuz tonight is the only night I can be away from home, par say…”
“You have a phone. Use it,” I shrugged.
“I can’t,” he said. “And plus, I think I lost it.”
“Sucks to be you.”
“Shush,” he replied. “So please…”
“No,” I declined.
“Haha,” Torrance teased.
“I’m not going out with you either,” I told him.
“Haha,” Wes mocked.
“What’s it about?” I asked Wes. He looked to Torrance.
“Never mind,” he mumbled. And then a ringtone started to ring and Wes pulled his phone out of his pants to check the message. “Eh. Gotta go.”
“What happened to your lost phone?” I asked, suspicious.
“Who says this was mine?” he winked before leaving.
“How do you stand him?” Torrance asked, bewildered.
“How do I stand you and him together?” I countered. “You guys better behave at the wedding.”
“Of course I will…but only for Jasmine and Eli,” he promised.
“Good boy,” I teased, poking him. He leaned down to kiss me and it created butterflies in my stomach. I smiled.
“Hey, can I sleep here tonight?” he asked.
“As I stated before, I’m going out with Jasmine, so if you would like to enjoy an empty room by yourself, by all means, do so,” I humored.
“Never mind then,” he sighed. “So you’re really going out with Jasmine?”
“Yup.”
He sighed.
“Well I’ll see you later, babe,” he concluded before kissing me again, but this time I stayed in the kiss and added my hand on the back of his neck to keep him there. My other hand pulled on the bottom of his shirt and played with the loops of his jeans. He pulled away. “Sorry…”
“Nah. It’s cool,” I nodded before releasing him. He gave me a nice smile before leaving. For some reason, I liked kissing him. Was he the best kisser? No. But I liked kissing him. It didn’t really get far all the time because we were both virgins and even though my boundaries were pushed back from dating Wes, Torrance was still…cautious. But I happened to think it was adorable.
I sighed and waited for Jasmine’s wedding. My best friend’s big day.
