064: City
Next part. I like how they're short. :) I've done a total of 20-something. Just 70-x to go.Wilhelmshaven was hardly a town. Centuries ago, pirates had occupied the castle. Now they visited the town in the form of treasure hunters. People were quiet, stayed out of their way. When Lindral paced the road by the dock, people parted to let her walk back and forth uninterrupted.
I decided to leave the ship to explore again, because the last time, I had paid attention solely to my thoughts, until the brightly painted sign of the whorehouse came into view. Inside, it smelt musky and heated, the air hot and tight. I remained there until evening, when I returned to the ship.
This time, I wanted to see the sights. Unfortunately, I discovered there were…no sights to see, and I ended up back in the tavern in the centre of town.
From morning until afternoon, I sat on a wooden barstool, my ass going numb. I admired the plaques on the wall, and gazed at coloured bottles lining the shelves behind the bar. I was kicked out late afternoon, and…I suppose I must have stumbled my way back to the ship, because when I awoke, it was late in the morrow and my head was splitting.
The rocking of the ship felt as if someone was spinning me in my hammock, and the creaking was like roaring in my ears. I hazily closed my eyes and slept the rest of the day.
