"Why do I have to go to Central?" you ask "Because you usually make one of us go, it's your turn now." Says Cole. "Oh come on, you guys like going to Central for me. Besides I never made you go. You always volunteered." you say almost pleadingly. "Right, sure Kari. So I guess I imagined you threatening me every time I said I didn't want to go." says Alex. "You guys took me seriously?! I was just kidding. Is it my fault you don't know what "joking around" is?" you ask. "Yes." says the whole room in unison, Which contains five men and two other women. "Fine I'll go, but I'm not gonna like it and I'm going to be all pissed off when I get back, and guess whose gonna have to suffer?" you ask Alex cocked his head to you. "Well then, it looks like we might just have to add a few new things to our report. Doesn't it?" he asks in return. You growl then sigh. You gather your belongings. You then go wait for the train. Eric comes up and sits beside you. "You brought this on yourself you know." he says. "If your trying to make me less pissed off, you're failing miserably." you snap. "What do you have against Central? I mean a little while ago, you seemed fine with the idea of traveling there. You know, getting out of the north for a few days. What changed." he asks. "I just don't feel like being in Central right now okay?" you ask in return. "Fine, but I can see it in your eyes, there is something or someone" he pauses to see your reaction. "in central that you don't want to be around. By any chance is it that Hughes guy? was he a friend of yours?" he asks. "Yeah actually he was. He was a friend of them family really, but he's not the reason. I just...Never mind. My trains here, I gotta go." you say "Hey, wait. You never said if it was me or Cole who is in charge during your leave." he says to you. "First of all its "Cole or me" not the other way around. and second of all here." you say while handing him a note. "must you always correct my grammar." he says jokingly "I correct everyone's grammar, so don't take it personally." you say. You watch as he reads the note and you see a big grin appear on his face. He picks you up and gives you a huge bear hug." Ahhhhhyeeee, NO TOUCHIE!" you shout has he sets you down. "Sorry, I'm just so happy you chose me and not Cole to be in charge." "Well not to be mean, but its more to piss him off for sending me to Central." you say. You step on to the train and the doors close behind you. You sit down by the window and wave to Eric as the train pulls away. He waves back and he has the biggest grin ever. You laugh and turn back to the front. You sigh "Man I so don't want to go to Central.
Darn subordinates making you do something you really don't want to.
{Meanwhile in Central} "I hear someone from the north is coming down with their reports, I'm curious to who they send this time." say Hawkeye. "Hmm, as am I, I do know that it won't be Kari who will show up." says Mustang. "Sir?" says Hawkeye "Colonel Kari has yet to bring down her report personally. It seems she isn't a big fan of Central." says Mustang "And how do you know this, Sir?" asks Hawkeye. He just smirks. There is a knock on the door. "Come in." calls Mustang. "Sir, Ed Elric to see you." says Havoc. Roy sighs. "Send him in. I could use a good laugh." says Mustang. "Yes, Sir." says Havoc. Shortly(Ha ha ED--HEY ARE YOU CALLING ME SHORT?! ME---no, no, no. Me never, see I'm short to so I know how it feels. I would never call anyone else short. ED--*Glares evilly* Why don't I trust you?) later Ed comes into the room. "Hey there shorty, how is the air down there?" asks Mustang (ED--HEY! ME--That was all Mustang not me. MUSTANG--yeah that was all me shorty. ED--I'M GONNA POUND YOU! ME---Can we get back to the story now or do I have to get rough. *silence* Okay then)
"I don't have time for pleasantries Colonel. I'm here on business just passing through." says Ed. "Oh how sweet and you came here just to see me. I'm touched Ed really." says Mustang. "Look Mustang I need to dip into my emergency funds then I'm gone." says Ed with an annoyed tone. "Well Ed, your going to have to wait. I'm expecting someone. And their needs are more important than yours. Now if you don't mind. Please leave until I summon you." says Mustang. "Summon me? I am not your dog Mustang." says Ed "No your not Ed, If you were you would be a hell of a lot more obedient. Now if you please. Says Mustang standing by his open door. He can hear Ed grumbling while walking out. "Hmm I'll never get tired of that kid." says Mustang. "What do you suppose he wanted with his emergency funds Sir?" asks Hawkeye. "Who knows, he's probably continuing his futile quest for the Philosopher's Stone." says Mustang.
Boy aren't they gonna be surprised when you show up
{Back on the train} "Crap, I so don't wanna go to Central. Why the hell couldn't he have stayed in the East. Why did he have to go back to Central?' you ask yourself. You sigh. "An ex-boyfriend?" asks the young sitting across from you. It catches you off guard slightly. "Oh um no. Definitely not. Its just...someone I don't feel like dealing with at this moment of time. He's one of those prying types and I've never been an open person." you say hoping she notice the last part of your statement. "Say, no more. I know exactly what your talking about. I have an over-protective older brother too." she says. Your taken back by this but then smile. "My name is Kari." you say extending your hand. "I'm Salene. It's nice to meet you." she says, taking your hand in a handshake "Likewise." you say. "So why are you going to Central, If you don't mind me asking?" she says. "I need to turn in my reports from the North." you say. "Ah so you are from the Military" she says(btw you are not wearing your uniform if you haven't already figured that out)"Yeah Colonel Kari Mustang." you say with a salute, but then roll your eyes. She chuckles. "So Roy Mustang is your brother huh?" she asks "Unfortunately" you say with a sigh. "Wasn't he involved with the Ischbalen(sp?) thing?" she asks. You glance out the window. "Oh I'm sorry. That was dumb of me." she says and looks away. "It's okay. It is a touchy subject, but its not going to go away. Yes he was apart of that Massacre and I know it eats him up inside everyday. He most likely has dreams about it to." you say while slouching down in your seat. Salene looks at you. "My father was also in that Massacre, his dreams got so bad that he took his own life about two years ago. He left my mom and me with nothing. That's why I'm going to Central. I need to join the Military, to get money and support my mom." she says with pride in her tone. "I'm sorry to hear about your father, but where is your brother? why isn't he helping?" you ask. "After Dad died. Frank ran away, I haven't heard from him since. Mom is so worried about him. I could kill him for making her sick with worry. Its seems all she does is sit by that window and stare out into the distance, I haven't really had real conversation with her since he left" she says with tears welling up in her eyes. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you." you say "It's alright, it's not your fault. Though I guess being in the Military I can't let these little things get to me." she says. "That's true., but it's not good to keep your emotions bottled up. I should know. I've kept mine bottled for so many years that it seems the only real emotion I'm able to express is anger. I'm rarely happy and I was brought up to believe that crying is for the weak. My father's teachings. My mom always told Roy and me that its okay to cry. I never did though, not even when I was younger. If I scraped my knee I just walked it off...Damn...How did you do that?" you ask "Do what?" asks Salene in return. "Get me to open up." you say. "Oh that, sorry about that. I have that affect on people." she says with a smile. "Its no problem. Okay back to this you wanting to join the Military. You know what that entails right?" you ask "Yes I do, but its the only way I can get good money, without disgracing myself." she says. You sigh "Trueism. Well if we need any help studying for the exam let me know plus I can help you get prepared for the rest of the tests too." you say "Thank you. that's very nice of you. Umm you by any chance wouldn't know a place where I can bunk down for the night do you?" she asks shyly. "You don't have a place to stay?" you ask stunned. She shakes her head. "I think I can arrange for you to stay with a friend of my brother's she has a hard exterior, but she is actually very nice. Don't let her intimidate you though. Her tough act is partly to help keep my brother in line." you say with a smile. "Thank you again." she says. Umm Colonel Mus--" you stop her before she can finish her statement. "Please don't call me that. I'm not in uniform. The only time you'll have to call me that is when you are around other officers and I'm in uniform. I give you full permission to call me Kari. Okay?" you say. She smiles. "Okay. Kari. This question is going to sorta be outta the blue, but your eyes seem so sad, like you've been through a lot, were you by any chance also part of that war?"
The question did catch you off guard "No I fortunately wasn't a part of that war. Though I do know what it did to people. Granted the Ischbalens went through a lot but so did the Military. When my brother came back, he wasn't the same. His eyes changed and it broke my heart knowing there was nothing I could do for him. One day when I had seen him in his room his head buried in his hands, I walked up to him and hugged him. It was the first time I had ever hugged him in my life and he hugged me back crying into my shoulder. Somehow I managed to hold back my tears. I then promised him that I wouldn't say anything to our father about him crying. He hugged me again. I then left his room, after that day though, he became really cold to me, but also protective. I already had one controlling father I didn't need another...Damn...you did it again." you say with a smile. She just laughs. The train comes to a stop. "Looks like we're here." she says "Yippie." you say with a totally unexcited tone. Salene laughs at you. "You should probably stick with me until we get you all settled in." you say. She nods then follows you.
So Roy is your bro, man do I feel sorry for you.
