The Follower Of Artemis [Chapter Eight]Here's the 8th chapter! Enjoy ... ( Nothing to say )
Hades must have gone to the toilet and the souls of bad luck decided to run away and to look for victims; the “lucky” winners were the twins.
At that moment, the security system activated its ear-splitting siren, which was sounded only when there were extreme emergencies.
‘Guys, we’re under attack!’ Zale shouted from downstairs.
The twins immediately stopped their current activities and grabbed their weapons; Artemus, his twin blades and Artemis, her katana and her little gun.
‘Who do you think is attacking us?’ Artemus asked Artemis.
‘According to the alarm, I would say something like a little army?’ she replied as they descended the stairs.
‘You’re right. And they’re not going to be easy to defeat,’ Serena, who was into warrior mode, said.
She had brought out her javelin, a spear-like weapon Greeks used a long time ago. Even if they were really strong, they were largely outnumbered.
‘It’s the Drake clan,’ she said.
Artemus knew the battle was lost. The Drake clan had been the second strongest clan after the Slayer clan, and they were the assassins who killed the offenders and the weaker of the twins of his clan. They were probably coming to destroy him. Though the Slayer clan had been wiped out by something mysterious ten years ago, the clan remained the strongest as no one had tried to challenge the current leader: Artemus.
‘Artemis, Serena, you two, get ready to fight! Zale, call for backup!’ Artemus started ordering.
‘Aye!’ came the reply.
Art? Artemis was communicating him mentally.
Nice blades by the way.
Artemus’ twin blades were beautiful. They were black, shiny and looked very dangerous.
‘They’re now 500 metres from the house,’ reported Zale.
‘Okay. Everyone, take your positions,’ Artemus commanded.
Outside, Artemus, Artemis and Zale formed a triangle and charged while Serena stayed on the roof of the house. Having a hawk’s eye, she could see absolutely everything and, therefore, guide them. They communicated through the earpiece Artemus had given them.
Swords clanged, bullets were shot, and battle cries were heard. Artemis, Artemus and Zale were currently winning. Serena had also joined the battle and the opponents were no match to them. However, Artemus had a feeling that something was off.
The leader isn’t here. Artemis communicated, indicating him what was off.
Uruk, the leader of the Drake clan was really not present.
Weird. Why would he do something like that?
Then it hit both of them simultaneously.
‘Retreat!’ Artemus shouted.
I’m an idiot! How could I not realize it sooner?
Stop blaming yourself, big brother.
Then, suddenly, he felt pain, but it wasn’t his; he was feeling Artemis’ pain, excruciating pain.
Run! It’s no use. You’ll lose.
Go! Before they take all of you as prisoners!
Artemis had been captured and Artemus had let them take possession of their home. It was unforgivable. When he and the two others had retreated, he noticed Uruk, with Artemis, badly injured, in his arms.
