Danced With You... Once Upon A Dream

Created by lilhopestar4u on Tuesday, June 06, 2006

"Hurry Annette, 5 minutes until the curtain rises!"

"Hold on Ruth, my fake eyelashes need more glue I'll meet you on stage"

Unlike Ruth, Annette wouldn't get nervous about performing. She had been part of the Nutcracker Ballet ever since she was 6. She first started out with a small role in the Stahlbaum House as one of the children that played with Clara. But now, at age 21, she had earned the part of the Sugar Plum fairy from the Land of Sweets.

"It's just the grand opening, many girls will loose their pointe shoes at the end of the night, at least one girl will have a wardrobe malfunction, and my Pas De Deux will be the end of a hilarious dress rehearsal, there's no need to be nervous when every things bound to go wrong anyway."

Annette said sarcastically as she walked to her dressing room.

"Well well, if it isn't our prima ballerina"

"Ashley, it's the grand opening, lets call it truths, I need to re-glue my eye lash"

Ashley and Annette were once best friends. They first met at the auditions for the Nutcracker when Annette was six and Ashley was seven. But throughout the years of auditioning and joining the same Ballet Company, Annette's graceful and natural technique caught her instructors and choreographers attention. They would always use her as an example of "perfect technique" and had a high status among all the other dancers. This of course made Ashley furious, making their friendship a rivalry between the two. Ashley was determined to be the best ballerina in the company and dreamt of the day when she would replace Annette.

Even though Annette was sad of the fact that Ashley hated her so much, there was nothing she could do but ignore Ashley's' tantrums and hateful remarks.

"Break a leg Annette, and I mean that with my whole heart."

"Oh really? Who'd of thought the GREAT ice queen had a heart!"

With that, Annette turned around and entered her dressing room. When she turned the lights on, she saw her room decorated with 10 bouquets of red and white Gerber Daisies.

"What in the world!! Am I in the right room? This wasn't here 15 minutes ago."

Annette walked towards her mirror where she found the biggest bouquet of the ten in a beautiful vase with a card.

"Dear Annette,

When in doubt, just dance

Love, Darius."

Annette couldn't help but give a small chuckle as she stood there confused and pondering on who this Darius could be.

"Darius? Hmm, maybe they got the wrong room but the card does have my name so it has to be someone I know or else how would they know Gerber Daisies were my favorite flowers?"

As she stood there re reading the note she got the eerie feeling of someone watching her. She quickly turned around but saw no one. She then heard the audience begin to clap and she knew the curtain was rising.

Surprisingly, the show was running smoothly and her moment of fame was coming up. As she peeked out to the audience she couldn't help but look at the handsome man sitting in the third row center aisle. He had caught her attention when she first walked out on stage. He made her feel naked and awkward, but she returned his glare and for a second, it felt as if everyone in the audience had disappeared and he was the only one she was dancing for.

"Hey Ruth!"

She whispered as Ruth passed by while heading for her side of the stage for the finale.

"What's wrong?"

"Look, stand here do you see that guy? The one in the third row, center aisle dark hair, light skinned and a sexy face??"

"What! Annette I can't believe you!"

Ruth stepped away from the curtain and began scolding Annette

"Here you are, seconds away from doing the performance of your life, and instead of warming up you're checking out guys!!"

"Oh come on! Did you see him? Do you know him?? Does he look familiar???"

Ruth turned around and took another glance over to the mysterious man.

"Nope never seen him before, he is handsome though"

"hey hey! I saw him first!"

Annette playfully pulled Ruth's arm moving her away from the curtain. Annette decided to give one last look before getting ready for her turn go on.

"sigh, I wonder who he is"

At that moment the man averted his glare from the Waltz of the Flowers to her direction giving her a devilish smirk.

"EEEP!"

Shrieked Annette as she backed away from the curtains.

"I think he saw me... he looked over at me, oh my goodness I can't go out on stage"

"Aww, is someone getting stage freight?"

Taunted Ashley as she appeared from behind Ruth.

"Give it a rest second best!"

Ruth defensively responded to Ashley standing in front of Annette.

"I wasn't talking to you miss kiss ass, I'm here to tell Annette not to make my boyfriend look bad out there."

"Ashley!"

Warned Josh.

Before Josh dated Ashley he had the biggest crush on Annette. But Annette never gave him a chance to be more than friends. So he decided to move on and go out with Ashley.
For the show, he got the part of The Cavalier who was Annette's partner in the Pas De Deux.

"Ashley, go do a retouch on your make up sweety, it'll be time to bow and you want to look your best"

"But Josh! I want to see how your performance goes!! I need to see Annette make a fool out of herself on stage"

"Ashley, please, we've already spoken about this. There's no point in you acting like this towards Annette"

Ashley gave him a "I can't believe you're defending her" type of look, but Josh just kissed her forehead and turned around to face Annette as they all heard the ending of the Waltz.

"Lets go bring the house down Josh!"

Annette said holding out her hand for him to take.

"Lets do it just how we've done it a million times during rehearsal"

He took her hand and walked to their starting position.

*Annette's thoughts during her performance*

Preperation and! Tombe, Pas de bourre grand jetteeeeeeeee perfect!

Now where are you mystery man... ah! There you are. Watch this next move!

Mkay Josh here we go... first lift of the night and tourjete and UPPPPPPP

Haha! Peace of cake!! So what did you think of that mr.!!

OoOo do I see a smile? Hehe eat your heart out"

*end of thoughts*

As she prepped for the finishing move, Annette looked over to the man and gave him a wink. She then went straight into a backwards fish hold and BAM! A perfect ending and the audience roared with applauses and cheers.

But Annette didn't focus on this. Her eyes were fixed on the mystery man who remained sitting. His eyes were dead locked on hers sending her chills throughout her body.

*fast forward to the dressing room*

"Annette you were fabulous!"

Called out Ruth as she entered Annettes dressing room.

"WHOA!! Who sent you all of these!!!"

She asked in shock as her gaze roamed the room to each of the bouquets.

"I have no clue. But here's the card"

Annette motioned for Ruth to her dresser and showed her the card.

"knock knock"

Said a manly voice.

Annette and Ruth jumped and turned around to face the door.

"Oh, I didn't mean to startle you. The door was open so I thought I could come in and congratulate the Sugar Plum Fairy"

It was, as Annette would call him, the mystery man. He was more handsome than she thought he was. Very tall too, at least compared to her 5'3 height. She guessed him to be around 6'2.

"OH, no no, IT'S FINE... please please come in.. Ruth was just leaving"

Annette was very jumpy and his eyes made it worse. They were a beautiful soft brown and held such mystery and rebellion.

She gave Ruth a glance and Ruth quickly put the card down.

"Right! Yes, umm, see you later Annette"

Ruth gave a quick smile to the mystery man as she passed him and turned around to face Annette giving her a thumbs-up with a big cheesy smile as she closed the door behind her.

"So did you enjoy the show?"

Annette asked as she turned around to face her mirror and began taking off her tiara.

"Yes, I enjoyed it very much, but I think you meant to ask if I enjoyed your dancing."

"Oh please! What makes you think that!"

"Well, it was quit obvious I was making you nervous throughout the performance"

"Oh don't be so sure of yourself Mr... by the way, what's your name?"

"Oh yes, how rude of me, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Darius, I am a vampire."

Annette quickly shot her gaze towards the mirror where she could see his reflection. He started approaching her and she quickly stood up to face him.

Before she had time to scream, He hhad already embraced her and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep in his arms.

"Sleep my graceful dancer, when you wake, you will be in my world of fantasy where the mice aren't the villains, but other creatures such as demons."

*knock knock*

Darius quickly picked up Annette into bridal style and teleported out of the dressing room.

"Annette it's me, Josh, I just want to congratulate"

Josh opened the door and saw the room full of flowers.

"Annette." "Are you in here?"

He walked up to her dresser and found her tiara with the note from Darius.

By then, Darius had already arrived to his castle with Annette. He laid her delicate body on his bed and began running his hands around her face, neck and then arms.

"Time for you to awaken and meet your new home my pretty Fairy"
