Fallen angel: Chapter nine: Part two

The group learned that she picked up very quickly and efficiently, sometimes even adding her own twist. After 3 months, she started going out on little treks of her own, establishing a name for herself. A month later they brought her out on her first 'group outing'. They knew nothing of her personal excursions, and so brought her back to ningenkai(sp?) to test her. She easily overcame even the most 'challenging' of Earth's defenses in that one night. They were impressed and took her around makai(sp?) the next night. She did well, and they now had a new member. For a short time anyway. She soon grew bored of their petty little missions, and left them, taking Star. Ranoko had grown colder in attitude, but she still enjoyed searching for thrills. Though this recklessness did get her nearly caught/discovered a few times, and she had heard that one even managed to get some DNA, she still pressed on.
Sounds like my kinda girl....all we need is to get in a few killing lessons and we're ready to RULE THE WORLD!! MUHWAAHAHAHAA!!!

About 6 months later, she was in some backwoods, near mountains. She had stopped at a stream to let Star drink. She was sitting on a slightly high rock nearby, still wearing her hood on her cloak. She gazed out at the peaceful water as it rushed by. She reached up to take down her hood when she heard a slight whizzing sound in the air. She whipped out her dagger and spun around, slicing in half a chord with two weights on the ends, a simple yet effective device. She stood up, making sure to keep most of her face hidden. "Show yourself, coward!" She called brazenly, not thinking before speaking. *Oh well. Not like I have anything to loose* In response, some darts were shot at her. She dodged and ran towards Star. But as she neared her, a dart shot alarmingly close to her face. *dang it...looks like I'll have to face them to get away.* "I guess I'll just come and find you then." She said as she sprinted the short way into the trees. She moved from tree to tree, waiting for the next shot to pinpoint their location. Suddenly, she felt the barrel of a tranquilizer gun at her back. "Put your hands up and drop your knife." Said a guy's voice vaguely familiar to her, yet....it couldnt be. The conclusion her mind made seemed impossible. She followed the instructions, trying to think of a way to escape. "Turn around." She did so, keeping her head down and her hood far up. She could now see his feet and ankles. "Now what?" She said, hoping to burst his confidence. He was silent for a few seconds. "Take off your hood." Her heart sank slightly. *I bet he has a camera. Guess I wont be able to go into a store anymore..* She tried to think of some way to escape. "Um....I...cant. Yeah, I cant." She drew out as an idea hit her. "Why not?" "Because...he said so." She said, pointing blindly in front of her(behind him). She saw him turn his feet as he turned around, and she made a break for it. *Whoa, he actually fell-* Her thoughts were stopped because she had choked and fallen backwards. He had reacted quickly and grabbed the back of her hood. He still had the gun, so she closed her eyes and felt her neck, coughing. She expected a dart in her body, or a kick or something; but she felt nothing. "..Ranoko?...." He said softly. She opened her eyes and looked into the green ones of...."Toby?!"
O.o what the heck?!?
*rolls eyes* oh great, mr. goody goody here to ruin my fun. Well, I guess I might as well get rid of this. *throws bomb over shoulder*
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *jumps into tree and slowly pokes head out*
They both stared at each other in disbelief for a few seconds. Then Ranoko hurriedly got up. "Well, this is a surprise." She said, brushing herself off. "Yeah," he replied, "what're you doing out here?" "Oh, you know. Searching for adventure, getting into trouble, same old same old." They started towards the stream, Toby forgetting his gun. "Ok, lemme rephrase." He said. "How did you get here?" "Oh. Well, this guy found me and brought me here-" "Wait. How did you get past the-" "The FBI? Eh, I ditched em." He looked at her skeptically. "Fine, that guy took me away from them cause he outranked them or something. Anyway, once I got here I was taken in by a secret ninja association-" He gave her the look again. "Ok, ok. No more joking. A stable manager took me. After a while I found out he was working with thieves by accident and, in order to save my skin, I talked them into letting me train and join. I got bored after a while, so here I am." They sat down at the rock she was at before. "And no lies." "Ok. So, whats up with 'The Shadow' bit?" "Eh, its something fun to do." "Ranoko, getting into trouble in school was one thing, but stealing-" "Oh? And what do you do thats so much better?" "I'm an apprentice." "To who; a blacksmith?" "No...a thief." "Oh, and you get onto ME for being one?" "No, you don't understand! I didn't have a choice." He sighed. "I'll start from when you left. A few weeks after you left, we were attacked by a demon. My parents were killed like yours were and I found out I had powers too. A few days later a man came and brought me here. Probably the same as your guy. He left me with a man that looked to be in his 20s. He took me to a castle in these mountains behind us and trained me. I didn't know at the time, but I was being trained to become a minion of Gresthyn, the head of a very large secret empire of thieves, robbers, ect. By the time I'd found out, it was too late to turn back. Well, they soon found I was smarter than they expected and started giving me training on a different level. As a test, they recently sent me out to capture The Shadow. And thats how I got here." "Well, I guess I just cant get rid of you." She joked, gently nudging him with her elbow. He laughed. "Guess not." She got up and stretched. "Hey, you havent met Star, have you?" He shook his head. "I'll bring her over. She's my horse." She said as she jumped down. "She's been by best friend through all of this." She called back. He turned and caught a glimpse of metal shining in the trees. It only took him a second to realize what it was. "Ranoko, look out!" But he called a second too late, and as she reached for her dagger a dart pierced her shoulder and she fell over a few seconds later, unconscious.
GAH!!!! RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! *runs into tree*
