I made my way up to the Gryffindor Common room again, I glanced at my watch. The escape had only taken us twenty minutes. Students would not be heading back this early, at least it would not be usual. My stomach growled and I ignored it's cries to turn around and go back to supper, I could last until the next morning. I got up to the room, happy no one had seen me and questioned why I was here.
"Mon chere," I heard the knight purr and the Fat Lady giggled with delight.
"Dragon Fire Mints," I muttered, disgusted with their banter. They were portraits for Heaven's sake.
The knight blew a kiss and the Fat Lady swung open and I climbed in, her shutting quickly behind me to be reunited with her knight.
I rolled my eyes and made my way up to James's dormitory. I stood outside the door, I could hear music playing quietly in his room. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
"Yeah," I heard James say and a bed squeeked.
"Can I come in?" I asked.
There was no reply for a moment, "Sure."
I twisted the doorknob and let myself in, smiling welcomingly.
"Hi," I walked over to him, he was sitting on his bed, legs hanging over the side.
"Hi..." his look was asking why I was here.
"I just wanted to come and talk to you," I looked down at the ground, I was glad I was decent at acting.
"About?" he shuffled down and I sat on the end of the bed next to him, my back resting against the corner post.
"Well, you know..." I silently slid my bag around my back on the floor, placing it next to the trunk.
"Don't worry about it, I know you must still be wary after Tom," his voice echoed with anger at the thought of Tom.
"No. It wasn't that," I shook my head, the speech I had planned for James was perfect. I almost couldn't resist a smiled.
"It's just... I was scared. Well, I didn't want you to think I was a bad kisser. I like you a lot and I didn't want to mess up our first kiss," I looked down at the bed covers, trying to look nervous.
Out of the corner of my eyes I saw him grin and ruffle his messy hair. He moved closer to me on the bed.
"I'm positive you'd be a great kiss," He leaned in closer, staring into my eyes and I stared into his shining deep green eyes. He was so close to me now. I could hear his slow soft breathing, smell his delcisious smelling cologne.
"Do you," I gave him a soft smile, "want to try it again?"
Almost before I'd gotten the entire sentence out he leaned in and kissed me. The sent of him surrounded me. I closed my eyes, he was a great kisser. The butterflies that had been lying in wait in my stomach took to flight. His lips pressing into mine, I got so lost, I forgot for a moment what I was there to do. While we kissed I lifted the lid of the trunk and dipped my other hand into the bag. Grabbing on to the soft cloth I lifted the bundle and stuffed it down into the bottom of his trunk, shutting it without him noticing a thing. His hand came up from gripping the edge of my bed to rest gently on my leg.
I flinched. I was surprised from the twing just as much as he was. He quickly pulled his hand back and sat upright, his lips parting from me and the butterflies went back into wait.
"I'm sorry," he said.
"No, I really didn't mean to. I didn't think-" he cut me off.
"You're obviously still not ready Marietta, even if you tell yourself you are, some thing inside you isn't ready."
"But..." I sighed and realised he was right, if he had been wrong I wouldn't have flinched. "Yeah, you're right. Well, I better go."
I stood and made my way to the door of the dormitory, James standing next to his bed watching me go.
"Do you want to go to Hogsmade with me tomorrow?" I turned and smiled at him.
"Oh yeah! I totally forgot about the trip. Sure," he grinned and ruffled his hair again.
"Okay, well, I'll see you tomorrow," I gave him one last smile before turning and leaving, my now empty bag hanging over my shoulder.
Ooooo... she sooo liked that!
