"Melkins, Montgomery, what an unexpected pleasure." – I turned around to see Malcolm Alberts standing there, his arm around a very pretty girl. She wasn't exactly skinny, but it suited her. Her face was angelic with full lips and big brown eyes. Waist long brown hair with caramel highlights fell in waves down to her waist. I could see Arthur gawking at her, and didn't like it at all.
"Hi, I'm Lucinda." – She said with a pleasant smile. – "You're Autumn, right? You might remember me from camp."
Oh. It was the same camp Malcolm went to, when he managed to ruin my life. Lucinda was one of the girls in my cabin, but it was amazing how much she changed. She used to be the chubby defenceless girl in the corner. We never really talked much.
"Yeah, I do." – I replied and pointed at Arthur, who was still staring at Lucinda like she was the most wonderful thing in the world. – "This is Arthur by the way."
"I've heard quite a lot about you...and your brother. If you ask me, the two of you have hardly anything in common. People shouldn't judge a person by their relatives." – She said exactly what I've been saying all my life, and yet Arthur looked extremely pleased with himself when she said it.
Malcolm, however, didn't look happy at all. He pulled Lucinda closer to himself by the waist. If looks could kill, I'd have to buy a black veil for Arthur's funeral.
"I'll go over there and get something to eat." – I vaguely pointed towards the table where everyone was congregating. A sudden gust of wind tore my straw hat out of my hand and I ran off to chase it towards the bushes. This is just getting better and better, isn't it?
It was obviously getting colder. I rubbed my hands on my bare arms and I sat down on the bench by myself. I really wasn't hungry anyways. I tried not to look purposefully, but out of the corner of my eye I could see Arthur and Malcolm talking rather heatedly and Lucinda being shunned aside. Finally, Arthur waved his arms around like a treadmill and walked off in my direction.
"Hey" – He said, sitting down on the bench next to me and putting his jacket over my shoulders. OK, so Arthur isn't that evil. In fact, he's not evil at all. He just doesn't seem to make a good boyfriend.
"So you know Lucie from before?" – He asked as he sat there shivering. I threw the jacket back at him. Lucie?
"Yeah, we went to camp together." – I replied. He held my arms together so I couldn't protest and placed the jacket back over my shoulders.
"Isn't it great that someone in this stuck up society is a bit more accepting than the rest of them?"
"She's saying exactly what I've said millions of times before her." – I said coldly. – "And seriously Arthur, I am not cold."
I pulled my hands out of his grasp and threw off that darn jacket.
"Of course you said that too, but you're...well, you." – He said with a smile. – "You're not jealous, are you?"
"No, of course not. Why would I be jealous?" – I scoffed.
"Well, she is very pretty. It's OK to be jealous, you know." – He leaned forward and looked at me with those intensely blue eyes. Almost violet.
"You know that I love you, right?" – He almost whispered it.
"Right." – I whispered back. I had a strange feeling, as if my stomach tightened. Not very romantic. Arthur told me he loved me numerous times, but I never once said it back. He didn't ask me to or anything... But it felt kind of awkward.
Arthur pulled me towards him, and I leaned my head of his chest. It was warm and snug and almost safe. I was shivering a little from the emerging cold wind, and he just held me closer, keeping me warm.
His breath felt funny against my hair. Warm and fuzzy, yet at the same time uncomfortable.
Splat. That's one huge raindrop.
Splat, splat, splat. Uh...why does it always rain when the weatherman promises the last warm day this year?
BOOM! A blot of lightning struck across the horizon.
"I think it's raining." – Arthur pointed out obviously. I laughed sincerely. It was so cute... He'd say the most obvious things in the world and I found it hilarious. That's how it always was before this...this...relationship.
"Let's dance in the rain." – I suggested kind of hypocritically. I was still snuggled up in Arthur's arms, hiding from the rain.
All around us, baskets and blankets were being quickly packed and carried to the cars; people were scrambling around, trying to get away as quickly as possible.
"Hey, your mum told us to get you." – Malcolm Alberts appeared in front of us, holding a beach umbrella over himself and Lucinda.
"Who, me?" – I asked stupidly.
"Well obviously not Melkins."
"Where are we supposed to go?" – I demanded.
"Wherever, I don't care. Let's all get a coffee or something. You can bring Melkins along if you like, seeing as outcasts obviously turn you on."
"Malcolm!" –Lucinda cried out disapprovingly.
"Shut up." – Arthur said angrily, getting up and facing Malcolm. – "Shut the fuck up."
"Hey, take it easy pal; I was just making a joke. No need to get so aggressive. But then, it probably runs in the family." – Malcolm said, as he turned away to leave.
I could feel my own face turning red and blotchy from anger. You know how the evil witch looked when all those animals attacked her at the wedding in Little Mermaid? Well, I imagined that was quite similar to my appearance at the time. I've just had enough of this.
"How dare you?! You selfish, cruel, rich, egocentric brat who enjoys nothing as much as applying hair gel and admiring it in shop windows" – I wasn't joking when I said I'm hopeless at insults. It was true though. – "You don't care; you don't even try to care for anyone but yourself! You get kicks out of making everyone around you feel inferior! Everything you do is just for the sole purpose of boosting your already overly-inflated ego... Remember what happened in camp? Well, I do. I had nightmares about it for years."
I crossed my arms over my chest, ignoring the now pouring rain. Lightning flashed in the distance, thunder roared through the skies. It matched my mood perfectly.
"Look, Autumn, just... take it easy, K?" – Lucinda said as she walked up to me and put her hand on my bare wet shoulder. Her hand was cold and perfectly manicured, but somehow comforting.
"I'm sorry. Look, I didn't understand some things back then at camp. I didn't know what kind of family you're from, I didn't know... I was a jerk back then." – Malcolm muttered the apology half-heartedly. Probably worried that his parents wouldn't want us to fight.
"Whatever" – I said quietly. No one even noticed the tears flowing down my cheeks as the mixed with the rain. I haven't been this angry in ages. I couldn't even remember getting so angry that I yelled at someone before.
Something told me that even deep on the inside I didn't like pinna coladas and getting caught in the rain.

Icon and Autumn-Doll <3
Here's the icon. I made it myself, as usual:
<3
And the Autumn Doll.
I'm not sure if it turned out right,
but I just love the fluffy slippers.
<3

I mean it when I say that I love messages.
Talking to readers is fun, and it matters to me,
because you're all great people with thoughts and opinions that I'd like to know.
As for ratings, well they just show me if you like what I write or not.
I wish more people would just take the time, and press that little button. <3
