Like Hot Running Water (Demyx) {7} Caught

"Can I... stay the night?"

Those words lingered in the air and eerily echoed throughout the dark room. Automatically, you felt the sheets stiffen next to you as Demyx held his breath. Too tired to question his actions, you merely lift the covers past your chin, assuming he wouldn't mind.

You didn't know how much time passed until Demyx answered. "Umm... yeah... sure," he tried to reply coolly. Unfortunately for him, you still managed to hear the squeak in his voice with every word he uttered. You let out a tired giggle and slurred the word, "thanks," before closing your eyes.

Being so tired, you had no problems falling asleep. The only thing that kept jolting you awake was Demyx's constant movements beside you as he tried to find a comfortable position. You shifted onto your side to face him. "Demyx," you once again slur, "stop moving around so much." Fed up with his antics, you decide to make yourself more comfy. You were beginning to feel rather hot in your cloak.

Lazily, you begin fiddling around with your cloak zipper. You release a content sigh once you manage to pull the heavy material off and toss it onto the floor. Although you were still wearing the tank top and skirt you normally wear under your cloak, Demyx got the impression you were naked and began fidgeting again.

You once again close your eyes and smile. Finally, you get to sleep. A wave of happiness washed over you and you release a happy sigh. Unknown by you, Demyx was inching away from you bit by bit. Well, he was until a loud crash greeted your ears.

Fear was the first thing you felt. "Did someone brake into the room?" you wonder, while turning to Demyx for comfort. When you saw he was no longer sleeping beside you, you begin crawling to his edge of the bed and peered over the side.

Under a pile of pillows laid Demyx, sprawled on his back with a scowl on his face. All feelings of tiredness seem to have cleared as you tumbled to your side in laugher. "Ey, Xaria this isn't funny!" he tried to yell, but his voice came out muffled. You began laughing louder at this and raised the covers over your head to stifle the sound a bit.

You suddenly feel a heavy weight press onto you. Or in other words, Demyx pounced off the floor and landed on top of you. While poking your head out from the covers, you playfully punch his arm. "Fatty, get offa me!" you say while squirming underneath him. He rolls over to his side and grabs the covers with him.

You stand on your knees and place your hands on your hips. "I need that, I'll be cold without it!" you whine, reaching for the covers. Demyx released a relieved sigh when he noticed you weren't naked and then playfully pulled your arms, making you fall down next to him.

With a grunt, you reclaim part of the blanket and happily cover yourself with it. Demyx tries again to steal it, but it's all in vain. You were clinging onto it too tightly. "Give up and go to bed," you advise with smirk. He smacks your head before muttering, "goodnight". "Sore loser," you reply. "Goodnight," you then add.

In the middle of the night, you wake to be greeted by the soft scent of the ocean. At first, you though you were dreaming until you opened your eyes. Demyx's bare chest was the first thing you saw. While looking down at yourself, you noticed you were snuggled up to him while his arm draped over your waist in a protective fashion.

Your gaze wandered to his sleeping face and you couldn't help but blush. He looked so peaceful in the moonlight, almost angelic. Rather than forcing him off you, you gently raise your hand and stroke his cheek. A chill ran down your spine as you hand made contact with his skin. "I like this feeling" you murmured while bringing your hand back down.

Demyx's face shifted a bit, which made your eyes widen. "Did he just... smile?" you wonder while staring at his delicate face again. "Xaria, you're seeing things, get some rest" you advised yourself while cuddling up next to Demyx again.

"Goodnight" you finally whisper, followed by a yawn. Sleep slowly started to consume you, and you finally gave into it. Before you lost consciousness, you felt something soft brush against your lips. A familiar feeling of warmth surges through you as you smile and drift off.
Something shifts underneath you as two loud voices began yelling. Dazed, you open your eyes, but to no avail, your vision was blurred. "Demyx! Way to go you dog! How was she?" you heard a far off voice ask. You didn't need to see to figure out that was Axel. Your vision returned and you confirmed your suspicions. Axel stood cockily by the doorway and was beaming down at the both of you, still cuddled together.

"I leave you alone for one night and this is what happens?" Axel adds, laughing idiotically at his own joke. You grab a shoe from... somewhere... and chuck it at his head. "Nothing happened" you stated while yawning. Looking around the room, you couldn't help but laugh. Your cloak and boots were thrown onto the floor messily, as were Demyx's clothes and most of the covers.

"I know this looks bad" you began while wiggling out of Demyx's grasp. Axel's eyes shot open as he noticed your attire. His eyes trailed up and down your body, you just threw another shoe at him. "It's looking pretty good from where I'm standing" Axel replied coolly. Demyx stood up as well and crossed his arms. "What do you want Axel?" he yelled, trying to change the topic.

"Someone's a little angry. I must have interrupted something good!" Axel said, more to himself than anyone else. You scowled again and looked over to see Demyx's reaction. He seemed a lot more embarrassed than angry at this point, and you couldn't help but laugh.

"Time for training" the red-head simply stated. He turned his heel and made to leave. "I'll give you a few more minutes" he said. You could picture the smirk upon his face and felt like smacking him. Within seconds, you had your cloak back on and your boots were placed on your feet. Demyx, however, was having much more trouble.

As he tried putting on his pants, he tripped and hit his head on the bedpost. Then while he had a boot barely on his foot, he somehow swung it and the boot went flying towards the window. Honestly, life as Demyx must be hard. After a few bruises and minor cuts, you were both ready and headed off towards the garden.

You were the one to lead the way this time and did so happily. This place was so familiar to you, you already began referring to it as "home". Demyx walked at an equal pace beside you, his gaze continually wandering to you. You met his gaze a few times, mainly because you kept stealing glances at him as well.

After having reached the garden, both of you notice Axel was nowhere in sight. Demyx stood beside you with arms crossed as you bring your arms behind your head. "I'm still really tired from yesterday," Demyx says with a laugh. "Yeah, I've never had to run so much non stop!" you add, thinking back to your encounter with the Heartless.

Silence returned after that as your gaze makes its way to Demyx for the millionth time today. You focus on his lips while bringing a hand to your own. "Did he... kiss me last night?" you wonder. Part of you wanted to believe it, while the other part denied Demyx would do that. "What's gotten over me?" you question while stroking your bottom lip. For some reason you felt a feeling of longing.

You heard Demyx squeal behind you and made to turn. You weren't surprised when you saw Axel standing there with an "innocent" look upon his face. You just sighed and slapped him across the head. "Hey! You really gotta stop doing that! I'll get brain damage or something" Axel scowled. You saw Demyx open his mouth to reply, but refrained from doing so.

"So Axel-sensei, what are we learning today?" you question enthusiastically. "Well, I'm sure you've seen us use those dark portals all the time. Time for you to learn too," he replied with a smirk. You couldn't help but squeal, much to the boys' displeasure.

"Now, the trick is to focus on the darkness inside you. Think long and hard about it, but most of all don't be afraid of it. While you're also concentrating on that, let an image appear in your head of where you want to go." You blinked once, twice and then sighed.

You closed your eyes tight and thought about darkness and things associated to it, like the night. Then you thought of your room and waited. When no portal appeared, you sighed in sadness. "Doesn't work..." you mutter.

"I don't get it..." Demyx replied gingerly after many (failed) attempts. "We all got it on the first shot. In fact, most of us knew how to do it before we were even taught how..." Axel added. "Let me try again..." you sigh.

With all your might, you concentrate on the darkness within your heart. You try and feel hate, anger, sadness. You think of all the times you've hurt someone, you try and feel the evil. When you feel as if you're about to burst with emotion, you think of Demyx's room. Instead of creating a portal, you find your two crescent blades in either hand.

"Well that's new" Axel states while bending over to examine your weapons. "Seems like Princess can't make us a portal. It's not big deal" he added after you smacked him. "Yeah, don't worry though, you'll get it!" Demyx added as an afterthought, although not doing a very good job convincing you.

With a sigh, you flick your wrists and your weapons disappear. "Are we training again tomorrow?" you ask hopefully. Axel laughed at your puppy dog face and smirked. "Only if you spend the night in my room" he pursued with a rather cocky expression. "I'm not that desperate" you said, rolling your eyes. Demyx simply laughed.

Your stomach rumbled and you let out a laugh. "Time for lunch!" you state happily. "We'll catch you later!" Demyx called from behind you. With a nod, you were off.
Axel looked at Demyx gravely. It seemed they were both thinking the same thing. "I don't understand, why is she having so much difficulty?" the red-head questioned. Demyx looked at him with a frown. "I seriously don't know. It doesn't make sense... all of us here can do it because we are..." Demyx trailed off with a sigh.
With a nod, Axel agreed. "Who knows, that girl really is different from the rest of us" Demyx bobbed his head up and down. "She's special, that's for sure" Demyx stated, sounding almost sincere. Axel quickly smacked his friend. "Man, you are going soft! I'm beginning to doubt whether you were man enough to try anything on her last night!" he joked. Demyx rolled his eyes, "Nothing happened!" he said again. Axel rolled his eyes. "You'll tell me eventually".
