A young girl of nineteen frantically ran down a deserted street with a tiny child in her arms. The baby was wrapped head to toe in a pale pink blanket. A storm was brewing and the wind began to pick up. The girl looked at each house as she passed it, but none of them seemed right to her. Raindrops began to fall from the sky and the baby started to whine.
"Hush," the girl said gently and pushed a strand of hair out of her face. The rain fell faster. A gust of wind blew the blanket away from the babys pale face. The girl kept running. She was almost to the end of the street. She was worried. What if she couldnt find the right house? The baby started to squirm and let out a cry. The girl looked down and noticed her childs face was exposed. She quickly covered her face Thunder rumbled in the distance. The girl reached the last house on the street. She stopped in front of it. This was it. She went up to the porch and quickly looked around. A flower bow caught her eye. It was empty.
"This will do," she whispered and placed her baby in it. She made sure the blanket was tightly wrapped around her. She stood there, looking at her little girl in the flower box for a few moments. Tears welled up in her eyes.
"Im so sorry..." she cried and turned away. She had to leave. She looked once more at the bundle in the flower box before darting into the storm and disappearing into the sheets of rain.
