18: Of Indecent Plumbing, Parsley, and Sympathy
(2nd Person Point of View)
Wiping watermelon was not the way you wanted to spend your afternoon. No one would in fact.
You could hear Hao hum loose tunes in the shower, emphasizing each note to rub the fact that you were cleaning and he was taking a refreshing shower.
Cleaning the juice off the fridge with a rag, you found a piece of paper sticking to the fridge because of magnet placed over it. The paper was tilted to its side revealing how messy (or lazy) the person was since the person had not taken the time to straighten the note out.
Fish does sound good right now. >:)
-Hao
You were ready to kick his ass right after he came out of the shower.
Looking at the note you saw a little arrow that pointed to the other side of the paper so you flipped it over.
Your eye twitched dangerously as you ripped the note to shreads and let the pieces flutter to the ground. You ran to the nearest shower-less bathroom and smirked evily as you twisted the nozzle marked with a C for COLD. You then flushed the toilet and looked to the ceiling waiting for that sound you wanted to hear.
Sometimes it rocks to have indecent plumbing, you thought smirking.
.........................................
"Thanks for helping me with this one, Opacho," you said as you clapsed your hands around the brown bag filled with food ingredients for dinner. "And thanks for letting me use the shower in your room." Opacho had an anime sweatdrop as he struggled to keep the brown bag off the ground.
"We need to hit one more shop for the parsley," you explained to Opacho as you both entered another grocery shop.
"Oh great," Opacho mumbled sarcastically nearly falling over from the weight of the bags.
You went straight to the spice isle and examined the shelves for parsley. "Where is it," you mumbled as you set the bag down, Opacho gladly following suit. You placed your finger to the shelf as you pointed to the label, moving across the shelf as you read each one.
"Ah here it is!" you said pointing to the last bottle of parsley. You were about to take it but a hand came before you and snatched it away before you could get it. You frowned and turned around on your heel as your long mane of hair went over your shoulder clearly angry at how rude this person was, stealing it right before you had the chance to think.
"That wasn't very nice," you said stomping a foot into the ground as your white sundress swished around your thigh.
Your eyes widened as you saw who it was. It was Yoh!
He smiled a sad smile and than offered the bottle back but you nodded and pushed his hand away. "I'll find somewhere else to get it," you said quietly as you turned around and picked up the bags. "Come on Opacho," you said in a hushed tone.
"Hey that's-" Opacho said turning around but you pushed his back causing him to become mobile.
As you were about to exit the store someone tapped your shoulder and you turned around somewhat reluctantly. Your vision flashed white as someone slapped you in the cheek, the impact causing you to fall to the floor, ingredients falling over the floor which Opacho hurriedly picked them up attempting to collect them as he looked towards you slightly afraid of the attacker.
You got to your feet rubbing your arm gingerly as you looked to the person who had slapped you. For a couple of moments, your eyes were decorated with splotches but as they cleared you saw Anna.
"What the heck did I do to you?!" you asked clearly fed up by her outrageous attitude problem.
"It's not what you did to me! It's what you did to him," she said placing her hands on her hips as she leaned in towards you.
"To who?" you asked a little more softly eyes glowing with a little more sympathy and sadness.
"You know he loves you more than me and you proceeded to break his heart. Now he probably thinks I'm the enemy and the cause of all fo this!" she said tossing her hands in the air ignoring your question.
"I'm not..." you whispered trying to convince yourself, rather than her, of the inevitable. You looked away, golden locks falling over the pale frame of your face keeping silent. Opacho dropped the vegtables and rushed to hug your leg trying to make you feel better (Aww! Opacho cares about you!) His face crashed against your leg as comfort was aimed as her intention.
"Please don't cry Katari," he begged seeing a tear glide across your cheek. You pushed Opacho away gently and looked up, whiping the tears off with the back of your hand tossing a Opacho a small smile to try to assure him of anything.
"He doesn't need me. I am of no use to him. You, on the other hand, love him and knows what's best for him. I don't," you explained your voice slightly shaking, but it didn't lessen the impact of your words.
Anna stood there, exhaling alot of air in a sigh as she crossed her arms, slightly tilting her head away attempting to let the right words flow. "I am far from what's best for him and you know that as much as I do," she said tilting her head further. "And even though I love him, it doesn't make up for his love for me, or rather the lack there of. But you are right in one thing, I do know what's best for him and what's best for him is love, specifically you." Another sigh was taken as she continued. "Please come back," plead. "I don't want to see him sad anymore," she finished.
"Uhm..." you said stumbling across your own words, unable to think of what to say. You saw Yoh approach the corner that blocked him from you and the choice of words came quickly.
"I'll be going now," you said picking up the bags, attempting to avoid confrontation. You wiped the rest of your tears from your eyes and rushed out the door with Opacho, feet shuffling.
Before leaving, someone grabbed your wrist and turned around to see who it was. Anna's hand clenched your wrist and with a rather sad face on she said, "But he needs someone he can love," she said in a final attempt to keep you here. You pulled your wrist back and placed your hand around your wrist giving it a soft look. Your head tilted to Anna and you gave a soft, but sad smile and left anyways.
................................
You sliced a carrot with the sharp edge of a knife as you heard the clacking of the knife hitting the cutting board. You cut the top off and through the carrot top into the sink, turning the sink disposal thingie on (i forget what it's called @_@).
Opacho stood on a chair that had a pile of books on top of it so he could reach over and mix the soupy mixture in which the fish would be tossed into. Every once in awhile he would look to you and see your weary eyes that were placed there to shield any feelings running through your mind.
You turned as you heard someone knocking their fist on the side of the door frame. Hao had his head leaning on the door frame with that goofy , but smug, smile on. You looked at him rather blankly than turned around to cut some celery, slightly blushing at the site of him in merely his pants.
If he laughs because I'm pushing this knife is going up his-
"You shouldn't think such harsh thoughts," he said waving his finger at you. You looked at him sideways as he came beside you and couldn't help but glare. You then focused back to cutting.
Moments of silence stood, the cries of the cutting board only heard before Hao finally spoke.
"You seem.... tense," he said trying to approach the topic of your mood. He took a stepped forward and paused before looking up at Opacho.
"Opacho, do you mind gathering the team. Some announcements need to be made," Hao said ordering Opacho. Opacho nodded and jumped off the stack of books as he went out of the kitchen door, Hao's eyes following closely to make sure he was gone.
"Now can you tell me?" he said looking at you carefully but expectantly, seeing as he wanted the words to come out at that second.
"Nothing's wrong," you said flatly throwing another carrot top into the sink avoiding the thought.
"Now we all know that's not true, so stop acting for the crowd and show them what's really going on," he said coming behind you and lowering his face to your ear. You were still unphased by the words and took no action to them. Then you felt his fingers tap on your side in an un-orchestrated rthym as he waited for the reaction he wanted to get.
Everytime he tapped on the skin you would gently shiver because it was a sensitive area which Hao responded with that smirk of his. "You know you can just read my mind," you murmured, point out the obvious attempting to keep him off the his thoughts that brought that familiar smirk of his on his face.
"Yes, but this is more fun," he replied his chin resting on your shoulder.
"If you must know...." you said your voice trailing off warily.
"Yes...." he said pressuring you to go further.
"I had an encounter with certain people and the encounter was anything about pleasent," you explained in a vague manner.
"And now you're upset because of it," he said completing your thought. You did not respond to this with words, but with actions. You dropped your shoulder trying to inch his chin off your shoulder which almost worked because he was caught off guard (and almost fell because of it -_-.) But as soon as it came off, it rested on your shoulder again (once it was safe. XD)
A couple of more moments of silence stood as you lowered the heat of the fire. "It's done," you murmured.
"But you aren't," he said grabbing you again trying to steady you in one place, your body facing away from him to much of Hao's dislike. Silence seemed to become a very familiar sound to you and you disliked the grip he had on you in this silence so you twisted your body and broke free from his grasp. You stumbled forward trying to balance yourself again and as soon as you steadied yourself you crossed your arms and frowned waiting for Hao to do something that would piss you off so you could yell everything out.
Hao made a move that was unexpected.
Hao grasped your waist and leaned the side of his face on your shoulder as his fingers became interlocked. Your eyes widened in shock and it somehow triggered your mouth to gape open as unwanted feelings pierced your heart and nearly tore your stomach in two. It seemed to make yoru head burst and you cried in agony, your grip on each arm causing to tighten as veins seemed to pop. Falling to the floor, and out of Hao's arms your hands were brought to the side of your face as they trembled everytime a new wave of tears would unsheath themselves. The length between your head and hands was a small one and seemed to create itself by that feeling in your chest that caused you to lock up.
You cried a bit more wildly and Hao could see the ache you felt, as if his eyes looked straight through the soul and atetntion towards your body position diverted. He saw that true pain, the one worse than the physical and it caused him to have a look of deep sympathy as his hands came around you willing you to release from fear and sorrow, or rather to stitch the seams that came loose around your heart.
Truth diverting, diverting fate
Living the truth, stringed from all lies
Hurting the one you had formed those ties
And seeing love but displacing it so
And breaking a heart as if it were foe
Then shielding a heart, yet letting it crack
Seeing the comfort that you surely lack
And seeing the heart bursting at its seams
Seeing it become twisted as your hopes and dreams
And then seeing the pain you inflicted on it
And seeing you were the reason that it is now unfit
I had to stick a poem in it. XD I mean it just fit. Hehe. Anyway, onward to the review responses!
Animelover: I'm glad you liked it! And as of the Zeke liking Katari thing, well let's just use a line from those tootsie pop comercials and say "the world may never know." XD
Buchanchem: I'm glad ya liked part 17! I enjoyed writing it. -_^ XD And yes I shall keep up the good work! (or atleast I'll try -_-;)
Rezamoa: As you can see I did release 18 quite awhile ago XD, and now you got 20! YAY!
Ishiku101: The best Empty Inside? Just you wait until the finale winds the corner. You'll be shocked out of your shoes! ^_-
Rika88: I'm so glad your back! (and more improtantly reading again. hehe. jking.) And here I was thinking I was an over-serious writer. (Which is why the funnies came up. ^-^)
And I am very happy the cliffhanger placement was good. I just hate it when people put cliffhangers when it's so darn obvious on what's going to happen next (or when they stop in the middle of a thought and say cliffhanger because they got no clue how to continue)!
And about the gun labeled CLSS (you guys remember that one huh? Probably not -_-;) Well, that will be explained near the finale. Boy, do I like to make people excited. (and here I was thinking that how I set the plot up made everything obvious XP)
Ishiku: FWEE! Watermelon fight! hehe. (I hate being sticky too XP) The idea of the watermelon fight resonated from my passion for watermelon (and my mom's passion for good food deals. XD 2 mini watermelons for $6 XD My mom's a cheap Fillipino XD.) And my sister was watching a movie that had a full blown food fight. XD
Cause you know I had to respond to those kind people XD
The funniest Shaman King AMV I have ever come across! Enjoy! (and it has my favorite song in it too! XD Mr., I'LL MAKE A MAN OUT OF YOU! Gawd I love the Chocolove part (AND I REALLY WISH I KNEW HOW TO SWIM! XD) and where that guy in the yellow armor in Mulan sings with that wierdo voice when it shows Hao *hums song* Although Lyserg seems quite gay in the video XP)
But anyways, Message, Rate, Review. You should know the drill by now.
