"What a night," I whispered as Ryan and I sat outside my house on the swinging bench that was hung up with chains to the upper deck. I rested my head on his shoulder, his head resting against mine.
"Yeah," Ryan replied softly.
I took in a long breath, "How could Parker think of doing something like that?" I asked. "Do you think I should talk to her?" I asked. I know abortions are all up to the mother, but Parker was one to always be against things like that. I always remembered her sending me chainmails of making abortions illegal on my email, now she was doing this so there must be soemthing up.
Ryan sighed, "It's not up to you to decide, Alex. I know you want to do something about it... But you can't."
I stood up, "I can try, though." I said, and left Ryan sitting there, rocking back and fourth gently. He didn't object. He knew what I was trying to prevent was wrong, but it was right as well.
"Parker?" I asked, entering the house. She was sitting on the couch. She turned her head towards me, her eyes tear-filled.
"I really don't want an abortion, Al." She said to me, tears dripping down her cheeks. "but if my mom finds out she'll kick me out... She will!" Her tears turned into heart-felt sobs. I went to her side and hugged her, allowing her to cry into my shoulder. "Thanks." She whispered.
I smiled, "What are best friends for?" I asked her. She managed to crack a small smirk.
"Should we go talk to Bren now?" She asked. I nodded. I was going to get up but it turns out Brendon was already in the room, listening to our very short conversation. He seemed to understand the situation. Brendon hugged Parker tight, rocking her gently back and forth his his arms, resting his chin on her head. It was such a cute sight to see.
"I have an idea." I said. Brendon and Parker looked up at me with hopeful eyes. "This may sound a bit... Odd, but why doesn't Brendon tell our mom about the situation, even though she might get mad," I began. "but she'll get over it. Then you can tell you're mom, Parker, and if she gets mad and kicks you out, you can stay with us!" I said clapping my hands.
Okay, I sounded a little too cheerful, but whatever!
"That actually might work," Brendon said. And that was that.
We were to put the plan into motion tomorrow.
"I'm sorry for leaving you outside like that, Ryan." I said. "I just really don't want to see my brother, or my best friend hurt, you know?" I asked.
Ryan smiled at me and opened his arms out, asking for a hug. I walked over and put my arms around him tightly. "Don't worry about it, okay? You were only doing what is right. You have such a big heart." He said. It made me blush and smile. He laughed at my bashfulness and kissed the top of my head. "I love you." He whispered.
"I love you too, Ryan."
He smiled, kissing my lips lightly. "I'm glad." He said.
This was all too cliche... But I'm loving it.
"I don't think I can do this, Alexis." Brendon said taking in deep breathes. He was having a panic attack. I rolled my eyes.
"Yes. You can. You have to. It's a matter of life and death and I'm not joking!" I told him. He nodded and headed into the kitchen where my mother was cooking dinner. I took in a deep breath. This was it.
This was our last resort.
