Tears Of Blood 9- Company (a Sesshomaru story)

Amaya P.O.V>>> You swung violently around and stalked off from Inuyasha, eyes stinging with the tears that could never fall- vampires couldn’t cry.
*How dare he!! It’s completely different. That Kikyo woman was at rest and should never have been brought back! From the looks of that other girl, Kagome or something, she had even been reincarnated! Which means her soul isn’t really there- she’s just a hollow shell of dirt and bone animated by sheer will and anger, a shadow of who she once was! I on the other hand, didn’t have the chance to choose death. He saw to that.*

You hear steps behind you and you can smell the scent of that girl, Kagome. “What do you want girl? Leave me be before I decide I’m thirsty.” you threaten.
You were definitely not in the mood to deal with this sort of thing right now. However, she isn’t fazed an inch, giving you an (albeit, grudging) respect for her.
“I wish to travel with you for a while. I need to get away from that lying, cheating,…” she says, fury beginning to enter her voice.
“You mean Inuyasha?” you question, smiling slightly.
“Yes, him. Just for a little while, not permanently.”
“You do realise that would mean travelling with his older brother who is possibly even more arrogant? Well, towards humans anyway.”
“I can deal with that. He leaves me alone, I’ll leave him alone.” she responds immediately.
“Just don’t get in my way wench. And who, may I ask, is arrogant? This Sesshomaru is proud, and rightfully so.” sniffs Sesshomaru who enters the clearing.
Turning towards the west, he slows down slightly to accommodate the girl.
You roll your eyes behind his back and mouth the word ‘Denial’ to Kagome. She giggles, and you all leave, Sesshomaru ignoring you both.

“Ummm, who do I ask permission to go back through the well for something?” Kagome pipes up after a few hours’ walking; (well, you and Sesshomaru were walking, she was practically running.)
Without turning around Sesshomaru asks “What would you be able to get from a well?”
“It’s a magic well. It allows me to pass through to my time.”
“What do you mean, ‘your time’?” you ask, still walking.
“I’m from… not this time. I’m from the future. I fell through the well by accident and now I can go back and forward freely.”
Sesshomaru stops suddenly. “Can anyone else pass through this well?” he demands.
“As far as I know, only Inuyasha and I can.” she responds gratefully, tired after the long non-stop walk.
“If that filthy hanyou brother of mine can pass through, I surely could…” he says, thinking aloud. “You will take me…”
“Ahem.”
“…us to this well, wench.” he amends, looking at you.
“It’s not ‘wench’, it’s Kagome buster!” Kagome exclaims indignantly.
“It could be the incredible, flying miko for all he cares- I wouldn’t worry. He does that all the time, just to feel important.” you grin apologetically, unable to resist needling Sesshomaru slightly.

Sesshomaru gives you a death-glare.

You smirk in glee. “And he knows full well he can’t do anything about what I just said, and I’m really annoying him right now, because he is no longer in control of the situation.”
Kagome, by this point is laughing her head off.
His glare deepens, then his face returns to normal.
“So which way is it, girl?!” he snaps.
Kagome points north east. “That way.”
You groan. “How far that way, exactly?”
“I’m not sure. A long way I think.” she says apologetically.
You close your eyes and cradle your forehead in one of your hands. “You’re going to make me fly again, aren’t you.”
Sesshomaru gives an evil smirk in reply.

10 mins Later>>> “You do know how hard this is for me, don’t you?” you ask, tightening your grip around his neck, averting your eyes from his neck.
“Yes.”
“And you realise I really, REALLY hate heights?”
“Obviously, from the way you’re strangling me.”
“Good. As long as we’re clear on that.”
From her position riding in Sesshomaru’s fur, Kagome is laughing. “You’re an all but invincible vampire and you’re afraid of heights? Now that’s strange!” she laughs.
“Just because we’re tougher than most mortals and youkai doesn’t mean a fall from a great height won’t crush us dead.” you retort grimly, hanging on for dear… well, not quite life but…
As though sensing your all too real fear, Sesshomaru pulls you tighter to him.
“How much further, girl?”
Kagome smiles. “Right there.” she says pointing down…
