That don't bother me.."
Sasuke was still dressed in his black clothes from the funeral earlier that day. He sat by the window in his home, over looking Konoha. In his hand was a headband, your headband.
He rubbed his hand against the cool metal of it and closed his eyes, fighting back the emotions that were threating to come out.
I'm not afraid to cry every once in a while.."
Sakura, Naruto, Kakashi, and Sai had come back, each looking worn and tired, but despite the way they looked, they each wore a smile, for behind them was Sasuke. He had decided to come home.
Sasuke couldn't deny it, it was hell for the first week, being back and recieving all the stares from all the people who remembered him, and having one of his old teammates or Sai follwing him around.
As Sasuke came back, he immediately looked around for one particular familiar face. Unable to find her for the first two days he finally asked Kakashi.
"Kakashi, where is Amaya-chan?"
Sasuke had been wondering this when the old Team Seven had gone for him again, Amaya was part of team seven and she wasn't there to bring him back.
Kakashi's eyes lowered. "She's off on a mission that's why she wasn't with us. Knowing her if she was here, she would have jumped at the oppurtunity of seeing you."
Sasuke nodded and didn't question any further. He also knew Amaya really liked him. But what made her special was the fact that he cared for her to, but he never said anything..
Sasuke held his head in his hands, your headband still in his hand. He glanced at it, as he allowed, just this once, a silent and solitary tear to fall from his eyes. He could remember you tying your headband on over your forehead, only to have it covered by your long dark blue bangs. He remembered the way your violet eyes burned with determination as another mission was assigned.
As Sasuke sat with his team in the shade of a tree during a break from training Kakashi had appeared in front of them, using a transportaion jutsu.
Sakura looked into his eyes, noting they were grim. "Kakashi-sensei? What's wrong?"
Kakashi glanced at Sasuke before looking away. "All three of you need come with me.."
Naruto and Sasuke raised an eyebrow, but followed without another word.
Three ANBU as well as a Medical-nin waited for Kakashi and his team. Behind them was a covered body.
Sasuke could feel knots tightening in his stomach. 'It can't be..'
Kakashi nodded and the ANBU moved out of the way. The Medical-nin pulled down the sheet that covered the body.
It was you, Amaya.
Sakura's eyes welled with tears as she buried her head in Naruto's shoulder. Naruto turned away as well, his own eyes filling with tears.
Sasuke walked closer to your body. He looked at your face, your eyes that will never open again, and lighten up as you said, "Sasuke-kun!" Your hair was out of it's long ponytail, your long bangs matted against your forehead, blood stains under your bangs.
Sasuke gently touched your cheek. He didn't cry, he wouldn't, not in front of everyone. "What happened to her?" Sasuke asked instead.
"She was killed by the Akatsuki while with us," an ANBU member answered Sasuke.
Another ANBU member handed Kakashi your headband as Sasuke backed away, letting the Mecial-nin take your body to be cleaned up for your funeral.
Kakashi out a hand on Sasuke's shoulder. "She'd want you to have this.." Kakashi held out your headband.
Sasuke nodded and took it, gripping it tightly.
Sasuke let out a sigh as he continued to watch the rain. You loved the rain. Everytime it rained you would go to his house, wondering if he wanted to train with you, despite the wet conditions. Sasuke would only smirk at you but went nonetheless, for he had a secret. He loved to watch you in the rain. You never really did train when it rained, you simply played around, and Sasuke would always stand and watch.
Sasuke thought back to the funeral. It seemed like everyone was there, shinobi and non-shinobi alike. It seemed that everyone knew your name. As Sasuke thought back, it was true, everyone did know your name, it was funny too.
You didn't come from an elite clan. You didn't graduate at the top of the Academy, though you were close, and you got out in the preliminary round of the Chuunin Exams all those years ago. But everyone knew you, you brought joy to them. There was always a special air around you. Someone could be hurting then you would come along, offer them your words, and then they would smile. It was your gift.
When Sasuke was at the Mist country with his team, you always put you life on the line for your teammates and the mission, not giving your life a second thought.
'That's probably what happened in this mission,' Sasuke thought as he watched the rain beat against his window. 'You probably cared to much for someone else and got yourself killed, stupid fool..'
At this, Sasuke finally broke down, never letting go of your headband. He fell to his knees, head against the window as the tears finally fell as heavily as the rain did.
'Amaya, why? Stupid fool, stupid, stupid fool..' He thought over and over.
I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I let unspoken.."
Sasuke stayed like that, crying for a few minutes longer. He then thought back, to three years ago when he left..
He had just knocked Sakura unconscious and left her on a stone bench. As he started off again, he saw you in the middle of his path. Your hands were on your hips, your eyes held sadness, betrayal, anger, confusion, and warning.
"Hi Sasuke-kun," you said, managing to keep your voice light for now.
Sasuke kept his hands in his pockets. He looked away from you, away from your eyes that would make him say yes to anything, if he looked in them long enough.
"Go home, Amaya-chan. what I'm doing doesn't concern you."
You laughed bitterly in the darkness. "Of course it does, Sasuke. You're my teammate, and I care about you, when I care about someone, I don't give up on them."
Sasuke looked away. "I really don't care if how you feel about me or not, if you don't leave me alone I'll have to hurt you.."
This time, you couldn't help but start to cry. Not because of Sauske's words, but because you knew you couldn't change his mind.
Sasuke looked away, a horrible feeling in the pit of his stomach, as he saw your eyes glisten in the moon.
You ran towards him and pulled him into a hug. "Sasuke-kun, please, are you sure there's nothing that will change your mind? I-I heard you talking to Sakura. I can't promise you fun, I can't promise you happiness. But I can promise you, you won't regret staying. That power your searching for, it won't help you! You can get the same power here! Just, please, Sasuke-kun, I don't want to lose you.."
Sasuke didn't move to hug you or anything, he let you hug him. He closed his eyes over your shoudler, breathing in your sent, hoping to remember it, as a momento of Konoha, a token of the hapiness you allowed him to feel. The words that you said, that you couldn't promise him fun and happiness, was a lie. You didn't have to promise him those things, just seeing you smile, allowed him to feel those things.
"Don't cry over me, Amaya-chan.."
You looked at him with a glare in your eyes. "Like hell I won't, Sasuke-kun. You have so much here, you idiot, and you chose to leave it all for power. You have so many people who love you.."
You pulled him into a hug one more time. "Sasuke-kun, I love you, with all of my heart. Being here without you, it would be like living but being dead inside."
Sasuke cringed at your words. 'I love you so much, Amaya-chan..I wish I didn't have to do this..I hate hurting you..' Sasuke thought.
"I don't deserve your love.." Sauske answered. "You deserve someone who'd make you smile, who'd always be there.."
You wrapped your arms tigher around him. "That's you, Sauske-kun! You make me smile! Sure, you don't do much, or say much. But that's what I love about you. I won't love and can't love anyone but you!"
Sasuke cringed again. "Amaya-chan..Don't make this hard on yourself."
You pulled away and faced him again. "Sasuke-kun, if you can't stay, then I'm going with you, I need the power as well, everyone knows that.."
A small smirk tugged at Sasuke's mouth. "You're strong enough, Amaya-chan..Just forget me. Live on like you never knew me.." With Sasuke's final words he quickly lef,t disappearing into the night.
Your hands came to your chest as you fell to the ground, in tears. Your body shook as you called after him into the night. But no answer came.
"I love you, Amaya-chan.." Sasuke whispered as he continued his walk away from Konoha..
Sasuke finally composed himself. He sat against a wall, near the window, listening to the rain. A thought occured to him. Maybe, just maybe, you could be in the rain. You could be the one beating against his window.
Sasuke finally left his house and walked into the rain. He walked to the place where he left you crying, three years ago. He closed his eyes, letting the rain wash over him, as if washing away all the memories, as if washing away who he is.
Sasuke imagined your face again. This time, not blood-stained or with your eyes closed, but your face lively. He imagined your violet eyes full of happiness as you smiled at him.
Another tear slid from his eyes and augmented to the rain that was still falling.
"Amaya-chan..I love you so much..I should have told you..I should have stayed..Then maybe..Then maybe..You'd still be here. You'd be smiling into the rain.."
Sasuke closed his eyes and looked up to the sky, letting the rain wash over his face. The rain dripped onto your headband, and dripped to the ground.
"Amaya-chan..I'll never stop loving you. You're the only one I'll ever love, no matter what happens along the years, you'll still be the one I care for the most.."
Looking back down at your headband, Sasuke put it in his pocket and walked home..
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been..."
A few weeks later, Sasuke woke early to a sunny day.
Getting up, getting dressed, livin' with this regret.."
After eating a quick breakfast he left his house, tying on a headband, your headband. He touched the cool metal of it. 'You'll be with me, Amaya-chan..' Sasuke thought as he left his house.
Sakura, Naruto, and Kakashi were already waiting for Sasuke, for thier next mission. Naruto smiled a little, seeing the headband.
"You ready?" Kakashi asked, Sasuke.
Sasuke simply nodded before the team ran off to get their mission done. To avenge your death.
That's What I was trying to do.."

OK, as I sat in my emo corner, moping around for no reason..<.< I thought up this story, since this song is also stuck in my head.
As I listened to thins song I automatically saw Sasuke, just sitting and watching the rain. And then I saw this stroy, in flashback mode. You know, when something bad happenes in Naruto and then there are these sequences of flashbacks.
By the way, the song is: What Hurts the Most by Rascal Flatts
Well any way, I hope you enjoyed this one-shot. /\___/\
