Hey there people! I know I haven't updated for this story in a lot of time, but now I find myself actually liking to update for it. :) Thanks to lilwiz for motivating me. This part will be dedicated to HisNeverland. Enjoy...and play the theme, it will give you a nice vibe for the part!

Here's the last paragraph:
"Would you like to come to my cottage for the following day?" he asks, a hopeful twinkle in his deep eyes.
"Oh...I would like that very much, but..."
You think about the fact that you have to make a good impression in London. What would the society say if they found out that you've sleeped over at a single man's house?
He raises an eyebrow and waits for you to continue your sentence. You can't do it. You can't let him down.
"Alright, why not?"
He smiles broadly and you can't help but smile back too. This man certainly was the best of London.

Aw man, you're updating for THIS?!? (me: no.) really? (me: No, you moron, don't you know what you're reading?)

~The next day~
You knock on his door and hear a lot of noises from inside. What could this all be about?...A dog's barking, which means that Porthos is probably coming too, a thought that brings a smile up on your face. Also, the boys are shouting and, yes, if you're not mistaken, footsteps are approaching.
"Who is this?" you hear James' voice from inside -- actually, Mr. Barrie.
"It's Jane Kinley!" you shout back.
The door is quickly unlocked to reveal James standing in the doorway, smiling from ear to ear.
"Good morning!" he says cheerfully, then takes your hand and brings it to his lips, kissing it softly.
"Good morning to you, too, Mr. Barrie." you say and make a little courtesy. "I was wondering, Mr. Barrie --" you start but get interrupted by a shout.
"MISS KINLEY'S HERE!!!"comes from inside, and suddenly all the boys storm past James and come into the doorway, all of them watching your face, grinning.
"Hello, boys!" you nod.
"Good morning, Miss Kinley!" they all say at the same time.
"Alright boys, if you can excuse us for a moment, please. Wait for us inside." he tells them and they hurry to obey.
He grabs your hand and leads you on the front porch.
"Look, Miss Kinley, I was going to ask you two things."
"Alright, shoot." you say, raising your eyebrows quizically.
"Excuse me?"
"Um, say whatever you have to say!" you reply quickly.
I seriously have to start being more of a lady! you think to yourself.
"Yes, well, first question is: have you ever travelled by automobile?" (a/n: they didn't call it car.)
"No, but I've always wanted to!" you exclaim excitedly.
"Now's your chance!" he smiles. "You shall probably wear one of my own dusters, since you don't have one yourself--" (a/n: "duster" here meaning a special coat they wore for rides in the car not to get dirty)
"Oh, no, I beg of you don't worry about that, my coat will do just fine!"
"But you will get dirty!"
"That I may be able to solve." you smile.
Going to his summer cottage is enough, what about wearing his clothes? It would be completely inappropriate. Not that now you're being in total normality, but wearing his clothes seems a bit too...much.

THAT's too much?!?!? What about the time when we're going to...you know...*blushes* cosummate our relationship? (me: -_- dude, you're just friends. I don't know how you hang out with yours though...)
"Alright, so what is the second thing you wanted to ask me?" you say curiously.
"Could you please call me James instead of Mr. Barrie?" he says grinning, but looking a bit worried.
"Could you please call me Jane instead of Miss Kinley?" you grin back.
"I-I-" he gives a short, nervous laugh.
You smile at him.
"Alright...Jane." he smiles back.
"I am glad we have settled that, James."
~Later~
You're riding with the car down a hill, having the best fun you've ever had. The automobile is making a lot of noise and spreading a lot of dust around in the air, but you don't mind one single bit, because that's exactly what you like. Unladylike fun. Well not really, but still, this WAS fun, in spite of the abnormality of a true lady like you being in such a machine in the first place.
"This is so much better than a carriage!" you say loudly, almost yell, to make yourself heard over the rumbling of the automobile.
"I'm sorry, Jane, could you repeat that, please?" James says even louder, from the diver's seat.
"I SAID THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN A CARRIAGE!"
"Oh yes, yes it is...But you mentioned that you like animals, don't you like horses?"
"Excuse me?" you yell back.
"DO YOU NOT LIKE THE HORSES?" he shouts, making the boys all chuckle.
"OH, YOU'RE RIGHT! I THINK I'M HAVING SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT THAT!" you shout back. "YES, I BELIEVE THAT CARRIAGES ARE MORE FUN!"
"How come?" (me: I'm tired of typing in capital letters)
"You can't feed carrots to an automobile!" you shout. "And you, James, should have gotten used by now to the fact that I never grew up!"
A moment of silence falls. The boys all look at you with happy smiles and widened eyes, while James only stares, puzzled. This silence seems too quiet --except for the constant loud noises made by the automobile-- so you suppose he hasn't heard.
"I SAID I NEVER GREW UP!" you yell, hoping he understood this time and that he'd stop staring, he's making you feel rather uncomfortable.
"Yes...yes, I heard what you said." he replies quietly.
Luckily, you read what he said on his lips, otherwise you wouldn't have understood a word through that loud noise.
Then why is he acting so weirdly? Why has he suddenly resumed to driving silently?...

I'm such a freak. (me: no you're not! Who said you are so?) me. (me: see, no one.)
~At the cottage~
You're rather relieved that you've arrived, because James has been quite silent the whole way.
You walk into the cottage to see if any help is required with bringing the tea, because like James has told you, the cottage has no maids or cooks.
"That's so much better." you think, while searching for the kitchen. "A lot less like the stiff and prissy London."
The house is small, so it doesn't really take you much to find a certain room. But when you do, you regret walking in there in the first place.
"Oh, hello, Jane." James says, avoiding your look.
He's pouring the tea into cups. Now, who has ever seen a gentleman like him do that?...You sigh and think it's very sweet.
"Do you need anything?" he asks.
"Yes, I do, James...I need you to talk to me."
"Well...I just came down here to see if you need any help with the tea." you shrug.
"Oh...no, thank you. You should just go outside and make yourself comfortable."
You nod, turn on your heels and leave.
"Why is he still avoiding my look?
~James' POV~
You watch Jane get out of the kitchen and soon enough. your heart stops pounding so powerfully. Now you can breathe normally...
What is this? What is this intense rush of feelings that you feel when she's around you? It can't be more than friendship...For God's sake, you've only known the woman for a few days and also there's Sylvia...Sylvia...How could you have forgotten completely about her? She was dead and now you were defiling the memory of her by even thinking that you could ever feel the same for a different woman.
And yet, Sylvia and Jane were so different! Sylvia was a strong, powerful woman, she was a true lady with a gentle soul...
While on the other hand, Jane was only a pure-hearted, delicate soul.
She would have wanted you to move on...
You put your hands on your temples to try and stop the voice in your head from telling that. It's the last thing you want to hear, it's exactly what would make all of your beliefs to dissappear...and what would make you want to start a brand-new life.
Too many thoughts. Too many problems...too much.
And ever since you were a child, there was only one way you could solve this...You need to get away from Jane for a while, then close your eyes...and believe with all your heart...and fly...
...To Neverland....

(me: aww. I must admit, against my will, that I'm starting to enjoy writing this story.)

~Jane's POV~
You're sitting with the boys around a table, waiting for James to bring you the tea. Everyone is silent, and you keep thinking about him..
He walks into the room with the tray of teacups. He puts it down on the table and looks at you, quite worried.
"I have remember I have got to get back to the theatre, urgently!" he says quickly.
"Oh my God, what happened?"
"Nothing bad, I just remembered...I have to get back, that's all."
"Well, do you want me to come with you?" you say hopefully.
"No." he replies, shaking hsi head firmly. "I would like you to stay here and take care of my boys."
Not even giving you a chance to reply, he turns on his heels and leaves. You sigh and look at the boys. Suddenly you get an idea.
"Hey, what do you say if we planned a little play for when he gets back?" you ask, smiling.
They all start cheering.
"Alright, it's settled then." you laugh.
