[ Vindicated Fatality ]
On the ground I lay motionless
In pain I can see my life flashing before my eyes
Did I fall asleep? Is this all a dream?
Wake me up I'm living a nightmare
I will not die I will survive

Kakashi had never really had a reason to want to come back. He had always found himself going out on missions that could have easily cost him his life, but thought nothing of it. Why should he? He had no one to return to, no one who expected him back, and no one who cared if he died on the battle field or not.
But that had all changed recently, he found himself wanting less to go on those missions that would possibly take his life, and even when he found himself in such situations he would fight that much harder to get himself out of it.
He now had a reason to wake up each morning... a reason to come home at night and a reason to stay alive. And that reason was currently lying before him in a comatose state and had been so for nearly four days. He could feel his heart breaking and his mind slowly killing itself.
"Kira...."

I will not die I'll wait here for you
I feel alive when you're beside me
I will not die
I'll wait here for you
In my time of dying
Hemitaro had forced himself to build up enough Chakra to create one clone of himself, enough to carry both his stricken teammates from the forest and hopefully back home. The doppelganger he sent to Kira's side while he made his way to Uta. The blonde female ninja had passed out shortly after you had killed Rikco Kon with your katana. The said missing-nin's body was laid face down in the grass. As Hemitaro passed the dead nuke-nin, he gave a low sigh of frustration. With both Uta and Kira unconscious and his chakra levels so low, he doubted he could properly dispose of the body. This could be a problem, seeing as Kon had been an upper class ninja.
Growling out a few curses, Hemitaro did the only thing he knew would get rid of the body. Pulling out an explosion tag, he placed it on the dead mans body and promptly grabbed up Uta and took off through the woods, his doppelganger running along behind him with Kira's limp body in its arms. Once he was a safe distance away, the ashen haired shinobi slowed back to a walk, panting lightly. The boom of the explosion soon followed and he felt himself sigh in relief. All he had to accomplish now was getting back to the village on the already dwindling energy he had left and hope his Chakra didn't run out before then. He could not carry both Uta and Kira back to Konoha on his back...
An hour passed and Hemitaro felt his body starting to give in, his Chakra reaching its limits. Clenching his eyes closed, he slowly put Uta down under one of the threes, his clone following his example and laying Kira down before disappearing. If he didn't rest now, he would kill himself trying to save his two teammates.
'Kakashi's going to kill me for not bringing her straight back but... I can't move anymore' the younger ninja told himself, closing his eyes. He knew it was not a good idea for him to sleep without another person able to watch over him and the two women, but the exhaustion of it all finally set in on him and his head lulled forward without him bidding it to do so.

On this bed I lay
Losing everything
I can see my life passing by
Was it too much

"The fog is starting to burn off..." a voice called over the headset stationed in Iruka's ear. "But I don't see any sign of life besides the usual forest animals..." That wasn't much help to them...
Iruka sighed and lowered the binoculars he had up to his eyes. The Hokage had said that it would be possible for Kira and her two trainees to defeat eight missing-nins in the forest surrounding the Land of Fire within a two month time period, giving them one week per each ninja. This meant that if they did not run into any type of delay, they would be back sometime this week... perhaps in the next day or so. Leaning forward against the rail, Iruka smiled. Kakashi had taken up training all six of the Genin after you had left and now with the anxiety of your return in the air, the silver haired ninja was practically bouncing off the walls. Iruka had seen him walking the streets the night before around midnight. It amused him that Kakashi had finally found someone that would make him jog up and down the streets in the middle of the night.
"Any sign of them yet?" a voice asked behind him. Iruka felt a zap of surprise run up his spine as he quickly turned around, rubbing his head sheepishly.
"Oh, I'm sorry Lord Hokage sir, I didn't hear you walk up..." the Chuunin said with a nervous chuckle. "No... we haven't gotten any visual of Kira or the others... It may still be till tomorrow..."
The Third just looked at him and smiled, pulling the pipe from his mouth. "You're friends with her, right?" he asked, chuckling as Iruka nodded dumbly. "Then you should know by now that she will do pretty much everything in her power to get back here as soon as she can... She has friends here that she cares for. Nothing will stand between her and getting back home."
Iruka's eyes softened at the Hokage's statement. It was true. Since you had become an ANBU and found yourself out on tougher missions and training students, you still managed to find time to hang out with himself and the others. You never left your friends behind. "Hai sir... I know..."
"We have a visual..."
Iruka turned around and looked back out across the path, fog still coating it to thickly to see too far. "What do you see?" he called back into the set, gaining the Hokage's attention.
"Four figures.... two walking...."
Iruka frowned slightly. "Four? That's not right...." Not hesitating he turned and made his way down from the battlements and to the village gate. Cracking the large gates open so he could maneuver out, Iruka quickly and stealthily ran off into the fog.
"Iruka, what are you doing? What if it's not them?" the voice asked in his ear.
"I'll be careful.. just keep a watchful eye until you know everything is okay," he replied back before turning off his headset completely. Back in the tower, the Hokage had already taken up the abandoned binoculars and was watching the advancing Chuunin as he moved through the fog, now able to pick out the blurry outlines of the figures that had been spotted. Seconds later, one figure disappeared and Iruka's voice could be heard coming from the fog. "Someone get a medical-nin now!"

Or just not enough
Wake me up I'm living a nightmare
I will not die
I will survive

Sleepless nights seemed to fill his world now... What little sleep he did get was filled with hellish nightmares that tormented him until he woke again, often only an hour or so after he had originally fallen asleep. Exhaustion was setting in on his mind, making him see things that were not there, and casting illusions so his mind would see what he so desperately wanted.
He sat in the cushioned black chair quietly, the dark circles under his eyes growing with each passing day. Four days he had sat here and three nights he'd watched her sleep. His eyes went unfocused for a moment, forcing him to shake his head as his body stated to drop forward. Growling, he leaned back against the chair, ever watching the still form in the bed before him.
"C'mon Kira... Wake up..." he whispered softly, his finger lacing with your own. The sound of the door opening did not bring the silver-haired shinobi's attention away from your sleeping figure; too afraid that he would miss the flicker of your eye-lid if he looked away.
"Kakashi..." a voice called out. When he made no reply, a sigh escaped the being behind him. "You're going to kill yourself," Iruka said softly, his shoulder supporting his weight against the doorframe. "She's not going to wake up any faster with you boring holes into her head."
Kakashi said nothing to the Chuunin, just watched your ever-motionless body on the bed. Hemitaro had told him what happened; about how you just seemed to blank out. What had caused you to stop fighting? The question troubled him and was one of the many reasons that he could not get any sleep.
Iruka sighed and left, closing the door behind him quietly. If things continued as they were, then the village Hidden in the Leaves could very well lose two ninja instead of just one.
Iruka paused momentarily at the sight of an approaching figure came into view. It only took him a few seconds to realize that it was the Hokage. Moving forward quickly, the Chuunin turned so he could walk along beside the leader of the village.
"Has her conditioned changed?" Sarutobi asked, pulling the pipe from his mouth and blowed out a stream of smoke.
"No sir..." Iruka replied. "And I'm afraid Kakashi is going to worry himself to death over her..."
The Hokage sighed, stopping in the hallway and closing his eyes. "Iruka... I want you to do me a favor," he said, taking another puff of his pipe. "Send word to Kirigakure... I want all the medical records they have on file from the Hitori clan delivered to us."
Iruka paused and glanced over at his village leader. "Do you think this is something to do with her clan bloodline?" he asked.
"I'm not sure, but... It's worth a look, wouldn't you say?" the Hokage asked with a small smile. "We need to mark out any and every possibility."
Iruka nodded understandingly. "I'll get right on it."

I will not die I'll wait here for you
I feel alive when you're beside me
I will not die
I'll wait here for you
In my time of dying

"We have a shinobi here from Konohagakure," a Kirigakure ninja said as he entered a large room filled with tapestries and old pictures. "He brought this..." he continued, kneeling before a robed man, a sealed letter held out before him. Moving slowly, the noticeably older man took the message and opened it. A few seconds later, the Mizukage looked up to the ninja before him.
"Go to the medical district and have one of our medic-nins look up the medical history of the Hitori clan. This information will be given to the Konoha-nin," he stated plainly.
"Hai sir," the ninja said before disappearing in a poof of smoke.
Off in the shadows however was one sinister being. They kept themselves hidden away, listening to the Mizukage as he gave his orders. Slowly a smile crossed their lips, a smile filled with mischievous intentions. "So you're still alive then, Haru..." the voice whispered gently.
