A wolf's cry
Chapter One - Kiowa Adzuki
((No Sesshomaru in this one.))
Kagome just couldn't sleep. For some reason or another, she was restless, unable to stay in one spot. Sighing, she sat up from her sleeping bag, glancing around her friends. Shippo and Kirara were curled up together in the small sleeping bag that use to be Kagome's brother's, until he outgrew it. Sango was sleeping peacefully next to her, her weapon laying the other side, and Miroku was across from them, with the fire in between.
Inuyasha slept where he felt most comfortable; on a tree branch, leaning against the strong oak trunk. Smiling fondly at him, she stared for awhile before she realized what she was doing. Blushing, she turned away, looking at the fire instead.
"I should get some more firewood." She muttered, realizing the fire wouldnt last the night if she didnt get more wood. And Miroku mentioned that fire would scary away most animals. Standing up, she walked around the edge of the clearing, picking up any pieces of wood that had fallen off the branches.
"Now, now...what do we have here?"
Kagome quickly looked up, and her eyes met those of a demon's. Peculiar in color, the narrowed eyes were a dark brown, but had a hue of purple within them. The demon grinned, the moonlight reflected off the sharp fangs. Kagome knew she should call for help, run away, anything. But the eyes seemed to have glued her to the spot, freezing her use of both legs and vocal cords.
"Didn't your mother tell you not to wander in the forest too far?"
The voice cooed, and a slender, pale hand reached out and stroked Kagome's cheek almost lovingly, like a mother to her child. Except mothers usually don't slid their claws across the skin. Kagome felt a sting of pain as one of the claws, similar to Inuyasha's, cut her skin easily. Blood trickled down her cheek, as Kagome was shaking in fear.
"Now...don't be afraid. I don't bite..." A figure stepped out of the shadows, and Kagome managed to gasp.
"Much, anyways."
An inch or two taller than Kagome herself, the demon female was a sight that had Kagome in shock. Long, dark brown hair with a blue tint fell down to the demon's waist, tied up in with a leather binding. The eyes stared intently, as the skin seemed to glow with the moonlight. White ears with a shade of black near the tips rested calmly, and a tail with the same color sway behind her. A dark purple cloak covered most of the demon's form, but Kagome's could see she wore white pants and a purple tank top underneath.
"What's the matter...cat got your tongue? Or should I say...you have the dog demon's heart?" The demon cooed. Kagome grimaced, and somehow managed to whisper.
"What do you mean...?"
Cocking her head to the side, the demon answered.
"I have heard the rumors. The reincarnation of the priestess Kikyo has the half-dog demon in love with her. Have you ever stopped to use that pretty head of yours? Have you ever wondered why the demons always go after you, instead of your other teammates?"
Kagome watched the hand that had stopped stroking her cheek uneasily, as it slide back behind her head.
"Enough chitchat." Kagome cried out in pain as the clawed hand yank her head back viciously by her hair, tilting her neck back, exposed to the demon.
"Inuyasha!" A scream that had been forced to stay down her throat suddenly erupted, causing the birds in the trees to suddenly take flight.
The last thing Kagome saw before she was knocked out was the demon's sadistic grin.
As her vision cleared, finally regaining consciousness, Kagome was attacked by a sudden pain to her head. Moaning in pain, she reached up and clutched her head in a desperate attempted to calm the raging headache.
"Stupid demon..." She muttered.
"Actually, if you hadn't screamed, I won't have had to knock you out. So it's your fault, not mine."
Kagome opened her eyes cautiously. Although she was in a cave, she had been placed on some blankets, creating a comfortable mat. Shelves littered the walls that was beautifully combined with minerals and occasional vivid stones, and there was another bed that lay almost right next to the one Kagome was on. The end of the cave was about eight feet behind her, and was painted with ancient symbols. Rushing sounds of water greet Kagome's ears, and when she turned around to see the running water of a waterfall, the droplets glinting in the morning light. At the edge of the cave, near an exit that was probably used to get out without getting wet, was the demon, staring out of the water. She wasn't wearing her cloak at the moment in time, and was standing quite still. Kagome tried to sit up, but stopped suddenly when she heard a low growl. From the shadows on her left side, a wolf stepped out, its golden eyes staring piercingly at her.
"Isn't that..." Kagome trailed off as she stared at the black wolf.
"Yes, that is the wolf that your half-breed friend attacked."
Kagome looked back at her, shocked that she got an answer. "Is this what this is all about?" She didn't get an answer. Kagome jumped in surprised when she was nudged by the wolf. To her astonishment, the wolf pushed a bowl filled with some unknown substance towards her.
"It's medicine for your head. I suggest you drink it." The demon spoke again, not looking at her, but continuing to stare out at the water, possibly through it.
"And if I dont?" Kagome asked, testing the demons patience.
"I'll hold you down and shove it down your throat."
Kagome quickly picked up the bowl, and stared at the contents nervously.
"No, I didn't poison it. You'd be no use to be me dead." Sighing, Kagome lifted the wooden bowl to her lips, and forced herself to swallow the vile liquid. Choking once or twice, she could feel tears trickle down her cheeks because of the nasty liquid.
The demon turned around finally, a smirking playing on her lips.
"Good girl." She cooed.
Kagome glared, but said nothing, even when the wolf took the bowl out of her hand. Walking out, it gently placed it into a pool of water.
"Who are you?" Kagome dared to ask.
The demon stared intently at her for a moment, before quietly answering.
"Kiowa Adzuki."

Chapter Two - A visit from the unwanted
Kagome couldn't see the person through the spray of the waterfall, nor was the darkness of the night was making it better. She wished she could moved forward a bit, to catch what the two were taking about, and why Kiowa was so angry and hateful at this unknown person.
But if you had a full grown wolf sitting on you, you wouldn't be going any where either.
