Being Nearly Perfect 1 Love at First Fall

The Hogwarts Express blew loudly as my blonde hair flew in the wind. Being a Montez meant, being perfect. And I was the next generation of the family's perfectness. That also meant huge pressure from friends, family, teachers, even enemies. My thoughts were interrupted when someone poked me on the shoulder.
"Oh my god, Mariana, how are you?" I squealed.
Mariana had been her best friend since she was five years old at day care when her mother would be the glamorous model and go to celebrity awards and photo shoots. Mariana had black hair with blonde highlights and had a chinese heritage. Sierra's mom wasn't happy with that but that didn't stop Mariana and Sierra from becoming best friends.
"Sierra, darling, I'm doing fine. But Kevin won't be so happy. He says we aren't spending enough quality time together," she whined.
Kevin was Mariana's boyfriend. They had gotten together during the summer.
"He'll understand."
"But Sierra, I'm going to be miles away from him for almost an entire year! You can't expect us to stay together like this!"
"Well, write him everyday!"
"Like that's going to stop anything."
"Listen Mari, if he's not going to wait for you, then he's not worth dating. I mean, come on, if you weren't going to write him, I mean that's different, but you gotta have a little freedom."
"Maybe."
Being fifteen, I knew all about boys, reading from the various magazines I've read. Mariana, a total time waster would spend her time in her artistic ways, like starting drawings, I knew, she was never going to finish.
"Besides, you know all about boys, but you never hook up! Any guy would be drooling for you!" Mariana squealed.
"I just haven't found the right one yet, so back off," I said quietly. All the boys I found were stupid, ugly, nerdy, and just a plain no!
"You're going to have to find one soon."
"Well, he has to be, well I don't know, handsome, romantic, intelligent, athletic, he has to be . . . perfect." I gushed at the image in my head of my "perfect man"
"You mean like you?"
"No, I'm not perfect."
"Hmmm, let's take a look here."
Mariana circled around me.
"Perfect hair, perfect face, perfect size, captain of the Ravenclaw quidditch team, all O's in all of your classes! And do I have to mention, AGAIN, that you know everything about boys that a boy should know," Mariana listed.
"I'm not captain!" I pointed out.
"You're the one who brings everyone together, you know all the plays beforehand, AND the actual captain is only half as good as you."
"No, Roger Davies is good, and I'm perfectly fine with being a chaser for now."
"Yeah but you could totally be captain."
"Well Mari, it's only going to get harder because now, we have O.W.L.S, and I can't screw these up! My mother would kill me!"
"It shouldn't be a problem anyways, since you're, dare I say it, perfect," Mariana pretended to faint to the floor.
"And you're so dramatic. And I'm not perfect."
The train blew it's whistle and started moving. Mariana and me started running to catch up with the train. A handsome guy held his hand out one of the doors. Mariana grabbed it first and was swung onto the train. The handsome guy held his hand out again. As Sierra grabbed it, electrifying jolts shot up her arm and traveled through her body. As the handsome guy swung me up, I tripped on the step and fell into his arms. Mariana was quickly by my side.
"Sierra, oh my god Sierra, are you okay?" Mariana shrieked.
"I'm fine, thanks to-" I waited for an introduction.
"Diggory, Cedric Diggory," he said, a wide smile on his face.
"Montez, Sierra Montez."
Me and Mariana turned to leave, but Cedric caught my arm.
"Would you like to come sit in my compartment?" he was polite and really cute. His shaggy brown hair was the perfect compliment to his dark eyes.
"I'm sorry, but I promised to meet some other friends. Maybe I'll see you around some other time?" I asked innocently.
"Yeah sure," he still smiled, but I could see in his eyes that he was disappointed.
He left toward the compartments.
"What the hell is wrong with you Sierra? There just went a good looking guy that probably just saved your life and you're going to walk away just like that!" Mariana scolded.
"Look, all I'm saying is there has to be something wrong with him," I said flatly.
"Something wrong with him? Maybe if you went out with him then you could see what is wrong with him, but Sierra, a golden oppurtunity is right here in front of you! Don't let it go past you!"
"A golden oppurtunity for me to get all disappointed and find out he's not the one for me."
"No, a golden oppurtunity to find love."
"Well, love isn't going to help me get Outstandings in my O.W.L.S."
"So what, stop thinking about school, and your mom. This guy is HOT, and you're just going to let him walk away?"
"Yes."
"Fine."
Me and Mariana walked off to find a empty compartment. Mariana picked one with only Cho sitting in it.
"Hey Cho, how are you doing?" Mariana asked.
"I'm fine," she said quietly.
"Cho what's the matter, you're usually full of gossip to entertain us with," I wondered.
"I'm a little upset. My boyfriend broke up with me."
"See Mariana, I told you. Dating him will only lead to heartbreak," I pointed out.
"Who?"
"Cedric Diggory. He pratically just saved Sierra's life and she doesn't care about him at all," Mariana accused.
"What are you doing Sierra? You should go after him. He's perfect for you."
"Will everyone stop using that word. Perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect! God it's so annoying. I'm not perfect and I never will be!" I yelled.
"Well, OK, you didn't have to have a major break down," Mariana said quietly.
"I'm not having a major breakdown."
"You kind of were," Cho said quietly.
"Everyone just stop with the quietness!" I yelled.
"Let's talk about something different," Mariana said rapidly.
"OK, so why did your boyfriend dump you Cho?" I asked.
"He wanted a blonde. I saw her yesterday and I'm pretty sure that is not the only reason -," Cho was cut off because someone opened the compartment door.
"Oh my god, Kelly!" Mariana squealed.
"Hey, everyone, what's up!" everyone squealed and did a group hug.
Kelly's face suddenly got sincere as every parted.
"So Cho, heard about what happened about you and Brad," Kelly said solemnly.
"Thanks Kel," Cho said sadly.
The compartment door opened. The familar head of brown hair and dark eyes. There in the doorway was Cedric Diggory.
"Sorry for barging in like this, but my friends just kicked me out. Do you mind if I stay with you?" he asked politely. This guy was starting to get annoying. He was everywhere! His eyes focused on mine. I turned to Cho, she was staring at Cedric.
"Sure, but Kelly and I have to go get snacks from the trolley, right Kelly?" Mariana said.
"Yeah that's right, Cho do you wanna come with us?" I saw Kelly wink at her.
Cho silently got up and followed them. Cedric sat on the opposite side of me.
"Are they always like that?" Cedric asked. It was obvious he knew what they were up to.
"No. At least I hope not," I responded. We both laughed. The compartment door slid open again.
"Hey, dude we were just kidding about kicking you out man. Come back," a guy said that I knew as Justin Creed.
"Alright dude, I'm coming. Well, it was nice seeing you again, Sierra," Cedric stood up and left. His dark eyes connected with mine as he said goodbye. I felt like I had been electrocuted, just lying there, unable to feel anything at all. A few minutes later Cho, Kelly, and Mariana came back in.
"Where's Cedric?" Kelly squealed.
"Gone," I said. Everyone looked disappointed.
"And frankly, I don't care," I added and stormed off.
Boy this was going to be fun!
