It was another one of those Monday mornings. The ones when you feel like you just fell asleep five minutes ago and somewhere in your sleepy logic it makes perfect sense that when you snooze the alarm clock, your not getting up later but in fact your stopping time. That is, it makes sense until you wake up enough to realize that you can't stop time and that if you don't get up your going to be late for class.
Staring up at the ceiling, you think about getting up. You will your hands to pull off the cozy covers and swing you feet over the side of the bed onto the cold ground, but instead you just lay there. After stretching a bit you try again. Feeling the weight of gravity more than ever, you get up out of bed, grab you uniform, and shuffle into the bathroom. You splashed some cold water on your face to wake yourself up, and then start to get ready. After you put on your uniform and a hint of makeup, you threw you hair up into a ponytail. A glance at the clock told you that there wouldn't be time for any breakfast this morning and so you grabbed your bag and started to walk to class. You were more awake than you had been earlier but you still were incredibly more droopy eyed than usual. Fortunately, you had Potions with Professor Snape first, and he has always favored you a tiny bit, so you were hoping that he would overlook your sleepy laziness in class today.
After taking your seat, you just put your bag on top your desk and used it as a pillow for the few minutes before class started. Your friend Erin came over and sat next to you. "Another one of those Mondays huh? I was wondering why I didn't see you at breakfast."
"mmmmmmppfff" came your reply, muffled by the bag you had buried your face into.
"I heard that Snape has a huge essay all planned out for us today," she said bitterly. This caught your attention enough to raise your head from your make-shift pillow. "He has what planned?" you asked, praying that you had misheard her. "A huge essay, supposedly its going to be about the affects of flobberworm mucus."
"Another perfect thing to add to this beautiful morning" you sighed. "I can tell this week will be a winner."
"Oh come on, think of it this way, it can't get any worse from here." You just stared at her with your mouth wide open, "You did not just say that."
"Ummm, yeah I think I did," she said sarcastically. "Why? What's wrong?"
"Everytime someone says 'It can't get any worse' it always does."
"Don't be ridiculous!" she laughed.
"Maybe not today, or tomorrow, but something will happen to make my week more miserable and it will all be your fault" you explained.
"Well then, I'm sorry in advance" she replied, every word dripping with sarcasim.
You just buried you face back into your "pillow". So far it was the only thing that had been nice to you this morning. It didn't assign you big essays, or condem you to a horrid week, it simply carried your books for you and served as a temporary pillow. Right as you were thinking that you book bag might become your new best friend Professor Snape closed the door sharply behind him, snapping you out of your daze. Erin was right. Professor Snape gave the class a boring lecture on flobberworms and then informed you that you would be writing a twenty-four inch essay on the uses of flobberworm mucus. You could have sworn you saw the corners of his mouth twitch into a smile when the class groaned in protest.
That's how the entire morning went: shuffle to class, try to stay awake, drag yourself to the next class, stay awake. Once you got to lunch you happily welcomed the mental break and hoped that eating would help somehow. You walked over to the Ravenclaw table and sat down next to Erin who was already eating. After greeting each other you grabbed some food and started to eat as well.
As you eyes were wandering the room you noticed that Harry was glaring intensly at someone. You tried to follow his gaze, and found it was Malfoy he was glaring at, and you mentally gave Harry permission to glare at him (not like he needed your permission, but whatever). Harry could be a bit dramatic at times but he always had your support about hating Malfoy. You turned back to Erin and started to talk about your previous classes. Sure enough, her classes had been as boring as yours. It was as if the teachers all got together and decided it would be so much fun to make you lives miserably boring all on the same day. You parted once it was getting closer to class time and started to walk down the cold marble hallway.
As you turned the corner you hear the sound of fabric ripping and suddenly felt how light your bag was. That bag is definitely NOT my best friend. Knowing that you were already cutting it close for time you hastily grabbed your books and all but ran to your next class. Once you got inside Charms class you fixed your bag temporarily. A rip like that couldn't be completely fixed, magic or not, and you decided that you would buy a new bag the first chance you got. However, with the changes you had made it would last you the rest of the week. At least I still have a little bit of luck left. I wasn't late for class. Professor Flitwick cleared his throat and motioned for you all to take out your text books. As you reached into your freshly fixed bag you didn't feel the charm book's leather binding. More frantically, you rumaged through your bag and realized that it was simply not there. I must have left it in the hallway when my books fell! Just as you were about to ask Professor Flitwick if you could go find your book you heard a cold voice from behind you say, "Lose something?"
You slowly turned around and to your dismay you found Malfoy smirking at you with your charms book in his hands. Wanting to ignore him as much as possible you grabbed the book out of his grasp. "Thank you" and with that, you promptly turned your back to him again and opened your text book. Instead of sleeking away as you hoped he would, he came over and sat down in the seat next to you. This is not my day. You had truely believed that you might be able to finish school at Hogwarts and never have to speak to Malfoy. At this moment you knew that all hope of your wish becoming a reality, had completely been flung out the window.
Hope you liked it! Sorry if its not that interesting yet. I promise it will get better!
