The next day, I was anxious while at my locker. What was going to happen today? Would Alex even recognize what we did Sunday, or would he ignore me like everyone else?
Butterflies were exploding in my stomach as I nervously sorted through my books. My fingers, the black nail polish starting to chip from wear, were slipping down book covers in order to find the right one.
This morning, I didn't expect anyone to appear at my locker. Jenny was off with another teacher, working out some scheduling issue, while Neha was helping out in the office as Secretary Aide.
Damian and Justin were off on their own business, as usual. The leftover three of us had no idea what they did, because they didn't say. They never had the extreme highs we've seen around, so we excluded drugs or alcohol. Eventually, we decided to let them be and hope they wouldn't get in trouble.
Suddenly, a hand slammed on the locker next to mine. Startled, I jumped back and nearly hit my head on my locker, hearing the laughs echo through the metal.
It wasn't hard to guess who it was after that. "That's not funny, Kevin," I muttered as I blinked angrily at the six-foot-seven jock.
"Sorry, fag," Kevin smirked. His brown eyes darkened in disgust. "Couldn't help it."
The big idiots behind him burst out into laughter. Holding their sides, they made it quite clear they were laughing at me. It would be hard to hold my head high now, or so I thought.
The jocks suddenly stopped laughing, their eyes widening in surprise at something behind me. Kevin did the same, his eyes twitching with a questionable glare.
Before I could ask, a pair of lean arms wrapped around my shoulders, pulling me back to a lean body. Warm air tickled my neck as a calm voice slowly asked, "What's the problem here, guys?"
My heart instantly fluttered in surprise as I realized who it was. "U-um, Alex...?"
I could feel the head nod in approval before doing something surprising. It froze the ones who saw on the spot, and made their jaws drop.
He kissed me on the cheek.
I could feel it from the start,
Couldn't stand to be apart,
Something about you caught my eye,
Something moved me deep inside

There was an awkward pause at this moment. The jocks were standing there, mouths gaping, still in shock at what just happened. I was stunned and therefore chose not to move, trying to make myself comfortable in his arms.
Alex, though, knew what he wanted to say. "So, what's the problem, guys?"
Kevin could barely point at him while choking out words. "Y-You...W-what happened...D-did you just..."
"Kiss him?" the boy answered, acting like they were talking about the weather. "Yeah. Why?"
"B-but th-that would make you a-a-" another muscled jock stuttered.
"Fag? Yeah, sure. Heard that one before."
Kevin finally got himself together. "What the hell is wrong with you, man?! What are you doing?"
Releasing me, he wrapped an arm around my shoulders. I was now able to glance up at his face to see pure confusion. "What are you talking about, Kevin?"
"W-What do you mean, what am I talking about?! My god, you dumbass, you're hanging out with the fag of the school! Since when were you one, too?!"
The jock, who was also the captain of the football team, was beet red in the face. Either embarrassment or anger, both seemed to suit his rage-filled, yet confused, expression.
"Okay, hold up!" Alex was slightly red, but remained calm. "Two things I need to correct. First: I've been a 'fag' as of last year. Two: James is not 'the fag,' he's my boyfriend, dipshit."
Kevin turned even redder as the guys were stunned into silence. I could barely breath when those words left his lips. Did he just say that?
This time, the captain exploded, drawing forth a lot of stares. "You goddamn fag! What the hell is wrong with you?! Fuck off, you fucking fairy!"
The others were shifting their weight. Apparently, they had never been caught in a situation like this in their lives. Ever. So, now what do they do? Would it either be ignoring the most popular guy in school, or trying to accept him and his gay boyfriend?
Finally, Kevin turned and stalked off, followed by all but one of his sidekick lackies. However, the one left behind was a lot nicer. Jason Truman, one of the few players that was actually nicer than the others. Rather quiet, but he could actually keep a good conversation, I've found.
He glanced at both of us, longing echoing in his eyes. Shifting uncomfortably, he finally uttered a congratulations before leaving.
We looked at each other, and came to a silent conclusion. It was apparent, that Jason was also a "fairy" and was having a hard time coming out of the closet. Poor man.
Don't know what you did boy but you had it,
And I've been hooked ever since

"So, anyway, baby," Alex said, addressing me as he turned towards me. "You okay?"
I was blushing from his use of pet names, but nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. They didn't do anything."
He sighed in relief. "That's good. Well, at least we know someone on the team is fine with us."
I looked towards the direction where the player was walking slowly, his eyes drifting around every once in a while. "Yeah, but it's harder for him to come out. I feel bad for Jason."
"Mm-hmm." Alex looked at me, looking like he forgot what he was going to say. His eyes lit up as he realized something. "Oh! Can you give me your cell number? I've got a pen and scrap business cards we can use."
I nodded quickly, laughing as he took them out and passed one to me. Scribbling down the numbers quickly, we switched cards and tucked them in our pockets.
As I slipped the card into my pocket, I suddenly felt muscular arms wrap around my waist, trapping my arms. The muscles bulged as a voice breathed into my ear, "So, you two were on a date yesterday?"
Alex's eyes widened in surprise, his excitement suddenly gone as well as mine. In the midst of our excitement, we never noticed Patrick sneaking behind me. Now, the fact that he was holding me made me more than a little uncomfortable.
In that instant, Alex turned angry. He quickly stepped forward and hissed, "Back off, Patrick."
The soccer player returned the glare, making it a "Who can glare at each other with James in-between" contest. The grip on my waist tightened as I was jerked back slightly. Then, I realised he had a six-pack. Wait...Oops, distraction.
Patrick looked away first, grumbling about something like "annoying ass." Unlocking his arms from around me, he stalked off, ignoring the glare given to his back.
Alex turned to me and wrapped his arms around my frame, trying to calm down. "I swear, one day I'll kill him," he mumbled against my hair.
I just nodded and kept close in the hug. When I was released, I looked up at him, concern written all over my face. "Are you okay, Alex?"
His near glare turned soft. "I guess...It's just-Gah!" He threw his head back and sighed. "I hate it when Patrick plays his games like this. He loves to make people mad."
I gently smiled and leaned up, giving him a quick kiss on the lips. I really didn't care right about then, all that mattered was Alex being happy. "Don't worry, dear. We've got each other now, so it'll be fine."
He smiled, but I could still see the uncertainty in his eyes. He tugged me along, making a point that he wanted to escort me to class. I smiled, following him like a puppy with its master.
Our walk there drew many eyes, as he refused for us to be more than an inch apart from each other. That meant his arm was around my shoulders, my head was resting on his shoulder, and he was nuzzling my hair. That would be considered not normal.
The walk there seemed short, and too soon we had reached the door. My boyfriend seemed to linger, as if hesitating to do something, but then stepped away from me.
Before I could turn around, though, he trapped me in a quick kiss, at the same moment everyone seemed to turn and stare. The halls suddenly quieted, as if in shock.
Pulling away first, Alex smiled. "See you at lunch?"
Breathless and blushing, I barely nodded and watched him walk down the halls. I would have stayed out there, had I not realized that everyone was staring at me. Again, I blushed harder and quickly stepped into the classroom.
Please tell me nothing will happen today...
You got soul, you got class.
You got style with your bad ass - oh yeah!
Ain't no other man its true - all right -
Ain't no other man but you.
