Sheraton Newark International Airport 4:00PM

"Wow, I can't believe how tall you've gotten." Sandra, my mother eyed me up and down flashing me a cheesy smile. I stared in awe at her, i really did admire her beauty. To give you a picture of what she might look like, it would be easier to relate her looks to someone else, and that someone had to be Cate Blanchett. Sandra was very tall, thin and pale as me, I swear she was almost albino. Her hair was a light blonde, barely platnium. There was two things I noticed we shared in the looks department the tiny nose ring in our noses and our bright berry blue eyes. I really took after my father when it came to appearence.

"It has been eight years you know," I reminded her.

Sandra nodded "Your right, it's just a suprise from the last time i laid eyes on you. Now let's get home." she swung her car keys around her index finger. She walked me over to the luggage belt where i picked out my only two suitcases.

"Thats it?" she asked noticing that i had only picked up two green suitcases, I didn't bring alot because I didn't have alot. Warm clothing being the major issue. Living in Florida you don't really need a scarf, hoodie, or sweaters. But here in New jersey, all three of those wouldn't be enough.

"Yeah, well...I don't really have alot of clothing fit for the New Jersey weather, you know?" I explained. "So i didn't have alot to pack."

She chuckled taking one suitcase from my hand, i noticed when she laughed her cheek bones rose just like mine. "I guess i'll have to take you shopping sometime this week, ay?"

"Yeah Dad gave me some money, he'll be sending me some every couple of weeks too." I informed her.

Sandra sighed "I wish your father would stop, he knows I have more then enough money to take care of you!"
.

"He's just looking out for me..." I said in my father defense.

"I know," she calmed herself and smiled "Your right, I shouldn't waste me time worrying about it. So how is Camron anyway?" We made our way out of the airport and into her little red Volvo that was in the parking-lot. She took my suitcases, and opened up the trunk to put them in there.

"Fine I guess," I said. As if she really cared how he was, she practically hated my father.

"Wild as ever i'm guessing?" she frowned.

His crave to party everynight was one of the reasons she did'nt like him. Sometimes when we were little he would stay out almost every night of the week at a bar or a party around the neighborhood. He liked trying new things like yoga, and keeping up with fashions.

Sandra on the other hand was more relaxed, she liked things to stay the same all the time, and kept to herself alot. But all of that wasn't the reason they split up, if you must know, the big reason that my parents divorced and why my mother hated him so much was because he had confessed he was gay. Yeah.

"You betcha," I replied "But hes more into his work now then ever." i told her.

She laughed in disbelief "Thats really suprising," I even laughed myself.

Just as we left the airport the gray skys turned a darker shade, and light sprays of rain hit across my window. "I hate rain," I groaned.

"That'll be around all year, you'll just have to get use to it now kido." Sandra smirked. I groaned again but louder.

The rest of the ride was left in silence after that. Which i really didn't mind because i was to wrapped up in my own thoughts anyways. Thirty minutes or so passed, and i was beginning to feel really tired. My eyelids began to feel a bit heavy as we passed some unfamiliar streets. I made a plan that as soon as i got home i was gonna head straght to bed and take a nap. Finally after another fifteen minutes, we reached the house, passing many pastel colored houses along the way.

Sandra's house really stood out amongst all the other cookie cutter houses. It was very old looking, and had that old gothic look to it. Like in the movies where every house was perfect except for one, and everyone in the neighborhood told stories about how kids had gone in and never came back out.

I wondered if anyone thought the house had eaten me when i left with my father. I chuckled at the thought of that, it was pretty funny to think someone would actually tell someone else a house had eaten me. But what would they say now that i'm back? It spit me out?

"Here i've got to go to work now. I know, i know we haven't really even got to a chance to talk but duty calls. Don't wait up for me either i'll be home real late." She thought a moment and pulled out her wallet "I forgot to buy some groceries so your gonna have to order a pizza. The number of the pizza place is in the black book beside my phone in the kitchen. Just flip through it and you'll find it. Heres a twenty to pay for it. " She quickly handed me the twenty dollar bill, waited for me to take my suitcases out of the trunk, and waved goodbye just before she sped back down the road.

I stood there somewhat awkwardly alone, and infront of this Adam's family styled house I started looking at the perfect neighborhood that surronded me. Besides the dark depressing skys, the houses made everything bright and cheery. Everyone's yard seemed greener then ours, and cut finer then ours too. The trees and flowers in everyone else yard was bright green and stood out. I looked back at ours and just saw a whole lot of weeds. Did a pretty yard matter to me? No not at all. The only thing on my mind that mattered now was to go to bed, but first i decided i would unpack my things seeing as how i had such a scarce amount of clothing anyway, it shouldn't take more then a few minutes to do.

The door was unlocked so I didn't have to worry about having took look for a hidden key or waiting outside for Sandra to come back home. Thank God.

As soon as I stepped inside a flash of memories hit me like a bus.

When i mentioned my mother never liked things to change, and thought everything should stay the same right? Well..I really meant it. Everything was the same as i left it. The dark cherry wood floors, to dark violet wallpaper that covered the walls down to photos that were hanging on them.

Hell, even the smell was the same! It was still that heavy sweet scent of fresh baked vanilla cookies, but my mother never baked herself. So i'm sure it was just a candle hiding somewhere giving off that amazing scent. I inhaled deeply and smiled.

Okay besides the weather, new school i was gonna have to attend and being away from all my older friends. Maybe there was one thing okay in new Jersey.
