I sighed as I sat down on my bed for fifteen years. I glanced upon my old blue walls that were painted in the second grade. Considering I was not even in school anymore, it made this place feel even more ancient than it already was.
I grew up in this house. From the time I was born up until now. I grew up in a city in Illinois called Elgin. I have the same hair color I did when I was little; brown. It's length is different though, but it's always been long. It's just now past my ass though. My eyes always change colors. But normally, they're hazel green. My skin is somewhat pale. Some spots are tan from many years of playing soccer as a kid.
I heard the home phone ringing, and since my parents weren't home, I thought I might as well have picked it up.
"Hello," I greeted into the phone.
"Why isn't Alexandria Roses, the girl who still lives with her parents," my friend ever since the first grade said to me over the phone. Her name was Alicia Robins. She had black hair and tan skin. We met in the first grade when we were assigned seats next to each other. It's all history from then on. She's the same age as me, 20. She's currently living in a dorm at a college in Indiana. I've missed her ever since she left when we graduated from high school.
"Hi Alicia," I laughed. "Why must you harass me all the time that I still live with my parents?"
"Considering that you're 20 years old, I think you should by now be moved out of your parents house." I rolled my eyes.
"Yet why today do you decide to bicker about it a lot?" I asked her.
"Because of my lovely college roommate. She is infatuated with the newspaper and collects many of them. She decided to get one from Chicago Tribune today."
"And why does this include that I still live with my parents?" She laughed at me.
"Shut up and let me tell you, okay?"
"Fine."
"So before I was rudely interrupted," Alicia joked, causing me to stick out my tongue at her even though she couldn't see it. "You should get today's issue of Chicago Tribune. In the classifieds section, there are a few places saying they're looking for roommates. You should check it out." I rolled my eyes.
"No one will accept a perfect stranger into their apartment and have them as a roommate."
"Well apparently, they are," Alicia said, chuckling.
"Fine, I'll check it out."
"Good. You need to get out of your parents house pronto."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thanks Alicia. Talk to you later."
"Bye Alex," she said before hanging up. I put the phone back on the receiver. Sometimes, Alicia found the right things at the right times.
