To Feel Alive {A Vampire Love Story} Part One

Created by lastkissxx on Tuesday, July 10, 2007

For those of you interested in knowing, this is basically my Pardon My Fate story, with a different title, rewritten.

I decided to call it To Feel Alive, because of the plot I have planned for it.

I just thought that title fit better.

Anyways, I hope you all like it :)

(The story is in the results, guys!)

"There should be some new kids starting at your school today," my father said as I sat down to eat my breakfast.

"I know," I replied shortly, eating a spoonful of cereal.

He nodded and continued reading the newspaper in front of him. Of course, everyone knew about the new family. Not much happened in this small town without everyone knowing. Even the men gossiped liked old women.

After a few minutes of silence, he stretched and looked at his watch.

"Ah, well, I best be off," he said, standing. He leaned over and kissed the top of my head before heading toward the front door.

"Have a good day," I shouted as he closed the door behind him.

I finished my cereal and put the bowl in the dishwasher, then glanced up at the clock and decided to head to school. Grabbing my bag from the stairs, I went to the front door, pulling on my coat and shoes before leaving, locking the door behind me.

As I stepped out into the frigid winter air, I shivered slightly, pulling my coat closer to my face while I ran to my car. Once inside, I turned on the engine and cranked the heat way up before carefully pulling out of my driveway. As I made my way to school, I began to wonder about the new students.

Would any be in my grade?

In my classes?

Should I make friends with them?

I shrugged it off as I pulled into the school parking lot, deciding I would find out soon enough.

"Hey Raychel!"

"Hi Maggie," I replied as I put my bag in my locker, pulling out the textbooks I would need for my classes.

I stopped for a second and looked at her as she leaned against the locker beside me.

"It is still Maggie, right?" I joked.

"Hush," she growled, glaring at me.

Magdalena Firenze had been my best friend since 7th grade, and has used three different nicknames throughout her three years of high school.

Grade 9, she went by Lena.

Grade 10, she was Mags.

Now, in grade 11, she's Maggie.

And I? I'm Raychel Moore. No nicknames or short forms. Just Raychel. I wasn't really your average 16 year old girl, but I wasn't some freak of nature, either.

"Have you seen the new kids yet?" Maggie asked as I pulled my wavy chocolate brown hair into a ponytail.

"Not yet, no. You?"

"Nah," she replied as I held my books to my chest, closing my locker door. "I've heard theres three of them, though. All our age, and all adopted."

It didn't shock me that she knew this. Maggie was pretty much the queen of gossip and drama at this school. If you wanted to know who's dating who, and who's talking behind who's back, Maggie was the girl you went to.

Even though she was my best friend, I didn't particularly agree with her scheming ways, and for the most part, stayed out of it.

We headed down the hall toward the math room, passing the main office where a bunch of kids had gathered, obviously hoping to see or talk to the new kids. I laughed to myself and shook my head as we walked by.

"Honestly, people in this town have nothing better to do than gossip and harass new people," I said, walking into the classroom. "I feel sorry for them."

"Yeah, but you can't really blame everyone's curiosity," Maggie replied, sitting in the empty desk beside me. "Nothing ever happens here."

"I suppose," I said as more kids entered the room.

Maggie's attention was diverted as Tommy Dighout came in, taking his seat beside her. I took out my notebook and started writing down the note that was on the blackboard, figuring I'd get a head start on the lesson.

I was about halfway through it when a couple girls came in, giggling and shouting to each other.

"Did you see them?!" one yelled.

"Oh my god, they were gorgeous!" another one squealed.

I rolled my eyes as they continued on about the new students, only shutting up when Mrs. Richardson came into the room.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The period went by painfully slow, but once it ended, I said bye to Maggie and hurried down to the English room, hoping it was empty.

There were two other students in there, so it wasn't too bad. I sat down in my seat and pulled out my copy of Romeo and Juliet, re-reading last nights act that we had for homework. I was so into my reading, I hadn't even noticed Mr. Walsh and the other students come into the room.

"Okay, everyone! Books out!" Mr. Walsh shouted as he stood at the front of the room. I heard the ruffle of people opening their books to the appropriate pages, and opened mine to the same spot. Once I looked up again, I was completely captured by a tall girl with a wave of beautiful platinum blonde hair entering the classroom. Everyone almost seemed to hold their breath as she gracefully walked toward Mr. Walsh.

"I'm sorry I'm late," she said, her voice smoother than silk. "And my brothers apologize for missing your lesson today, but they have an appointment."

She held out a piece of paper, smiling politely as Mr. Walsh slowly took it from her. He looked down at the paper for a minute before looking back at her.

"Alright, you can sit beside... let's see," he said, looking around for an empty spot. "Raychel Moore. Raychel, can you raise your hand please?"

I hesitated slightly before raising my hand, finally realizing that he'd said my name. The girl looked at me through amazing icy blue eyes before walking to the seat.

"Class, please welcome Eleanor Hart," Mr. Walsh said, reading her name off the paper. "Eleanor, is there anything you'd like to share about yourself?"

The angel sitting beside me shook her head. "Not really, sir. Although, I do prefer being called Elle to Eleanor."

Mr. Walsh smiled at her and wrote that on the paper, scratching out the original name. "There we go. You can read off of Raychel's book for now, until we get you your own copy."

Elle nodded as I set my book between us. I tried my hardest not to stare at her like the rest of the room was, but I found it surprisingly difficult. My eyes were drawn to her. Her slender figure looked like that of a ballerina's, and the way her blonde hair cascaded over her shoulders reminded me of moonlight on water.

While I watched her graceful movements, I noticed her glance at me and give me a crooked smile before looking back at the book. I felt my face grow hot, and I forced myself to take my eyes off of her and focus on reading. She seemed aware of the rest of the room staring at her, but wasn't bothered by it, as if she was used to it.

Which, I'm sure she was.

I hope you guys enjoyed it.

Next part will be out soon!
