Casey stood outside, smoking a cigarette.
It was a nasty habit, she would admit. But the nicotine was too addicting.
The club was packed and she wished she had brought some Tylenol with her.
She heard the door open, and turned around.
Some guy walked out. He smiled at her.
"Hi," he said warmly.
"Hey," she answered.
They both turned their gazes forward again, for a while.
"You know, you shouldn't smoke," he lightly chastised her.
"I know. Relieves stress, though," she threw it on the ground and snuffed it with the heel of her shoe, nonetheless.
He smiled. "My name's Alex."
"I'm Casey. Didn't I see you up on the DJ booth?"
"Yeah. It's kind of my thing."
"That's basically awesome," she stated bluntly.
He laughed. "I guess it basically is."
"You're a pretty good DJ," she continued.
"Eh, I try."
"I wish I had your job. Or something music related," she sighed.
"What do you do?"
"I work at a library."
"...Oh," he tried to hold back laughter.
"Hey, you need brains for that shit! Strong knowledge of the Dewey decimal system, and professional English...and such."
He smiled at her.
"What?"
"I don't know...you're, I don't know."
"What? Annoying?" She got that a lot.
"No."
"What, then?"
"I don't know," he repeated.
"You do. What?"
"I don't know."
"You do know! Tell me," she said, starting to get exasperated.
"Fine!"
"Finally! What?"
"I don't...I guess...You're kind of cute, I guess." He walked back inside, without another word.
She ran in after him. She searched for him.
He was already back at the DJ booth, putting on the headphones.
She walked up to it. He turned around as he saw her coming, to "look" for some records.
She was still there when he turned around.
Casey started to say something, but he pointed to the headphones, signaling that he couldn't hear.
She reached over and lifted them off one ear.
"You're pretty cute yourself, Alex," she said, before sauntering away.
"You speed it up."
LOLZ.
Kinda campy, eh?
I love it.
Here, take a picture it'll last longer.
