(I thank you all for being so patient! Today's the first day I've been on Quizilla in about a week. I'm going to be updating more now, though!...Oh, and once again, Quizilla is making me rate my story A content for some reason. Please message me if you see ANY reason as to why it SHOULD be rated A. I promise, there is nothing bad in it.)

Levi Strauss had been my brother's best friend since kindergarten. I had grown up with Levi just the same as Danny had. The only difference between Levi's relationship with me and Levi's relationship with Danny is that Levi and I had never liked each other.

I couldn't believe my eyes, this time though. He had changed so much. He wasn't the geek he had been. Now he was way more thin, accquired lip peircings, snake bites, to be exact, and had perfect complexion. Of course, I had left him in California when he was ten. Nine years does a lot for someone. The only thing that remained the same about him - his crystal blue eyes and jet black hair. I had to admit, he looked quite nice.

"Nice to see you again, Levi." I stated, half-heartedly, brushing past him to get myself a bowl of cereal.

"I'm sure it is." he stated cooly.

I glared at him and sat at the opposite end of the table. Nothing filled the room but an awkward silence.

Danny cleared his throat and walked in. "Morning, Levi. Morning, Amelia." he stated.

We both nodded at him, giving a smile, then glared at each other again.
Danny joined us at the table with cereal, too. "So, Levi, ready for practice?"

"Practice?" I interupted Levi to ask.

"Yeah." Danny stated. "Levi and I are in a band. We have practice today. And, of course, you need to come."

"No, that's okay." Levi and I both said at the same time. We glared at each other, yet again.

"I mean...I wouldn't want it to bore her." Levi stated.

"Yeah! And I wouldn't want to intrude." I smiled at Danny.

"Oh, you're not! And, trust me, you'll love it! Our band is pretty good.
And you need to make some friends here, Amelia." Danny stated.

I sighed. "Sure, if you say so. Just let me get dressed first." I placed my empty cereal bowl in the sink and walked upstairs to get dressed.

A few minutes later I found myself riding along through the streets of Sacramento in the back of Levi's car. He and Danny chatted happily as Levi drove. Finally we approached a large house in a nice neighborhood. Two cars were parked at the house. Once the car stopped, Danny got out and opened my door just as two guys ran down the driveway, attacking him and Levi. They laughed, gave each other a hug, and began to talk. One of the guys, the one with short brown hair and gauged ears, finally noticed me and whistled.

"Dude, Danny, is that your girlfriend?" he asked. "Because she is fine!"

Dan rolled his eyes and slapped the guy on the head. "No, Rod. That's my sister, you moron. We look alike, don't we?" He asked and stood beside me.

The other guy, with dyed blonde and black hair, joined the one named Rod. "Yep. You do look alike. I'm Ian." he said shyly, extending a hand toward me.

I shook it and smiled. "Pleased to meet you, Ian."

"And, saving the best for last, I'm Rodney." The other guy stated.

"Pleased to meet you, too." I smiled, shaking his hand as well.

I talked to Ian and Rodney for a few moments then followed them, and Levi and Danny, into the house, down a flight of stairs, and into the basement. The basement was larger than I expected, and well furnished, to top it off. A semi-circle of chairs sat infront of a small stage. On the stage sat a pair of old drums, a bass, microphone's and two guitars. After Rodney, Ian, Levi, and Dan conversed for a few moments, they stepped onto the small stage and picked up their instruments, tuning them.

Once they begin to play, I was shocked. They were really great. Just like a professional band. I listened for at least an hour until they decided to take a break. Danny and Ian seated themselves next to me as Levi and Rodney sat on the stage.

"So, what do ya think?" Danny asked.

"Well...want my honest opinion?" I asked.

"Of course."

"You guys were amazing!" I smiled.

"Great," Danny began. "I just hope that they think that."

"Who are they?" I questioned.

"Oh, we sent a demo to a producer. We hope to get signed."

"They would be crazy if they didn't sign you."

He smiled. "Well, thanks. Just keep your fingers crossed."

A few minutes later, they began playing again, stopping around 8 o'clock that night. After they finished, they group bid their farewells and left. Danny informed me that Levi would be staying the night. Of course, I wasn't too happy about that.

Later that night, when I thought Levi and Danny had gone to sleep on the downstairs sleeper sofa, I climbed onto the roof where Danny and I had sat the night before. Just when I sat down, I looked to my right and gasped.

"What is it?" I heard a familiar voice.

"Y-you scared me. Who are you?" I questioned nervously.

"It's Levi....I couldn't sleep."

I took a few deep breaths. "Oh. Me neither."

I heard him sigh. "So, what's bothering you?"

"Bothering me? Why do you automatically assume nothing is bothering me?! There's nothing bothering me."

"Surely sounds like something is."

I sighed. "It's nothing....What's bothering you, though?"

"It's nothing." he mocked me.

"Alright," I caved in. "I know you think I'm a rich little snob who has it
all, but that's not true. My mother hates me. Nothing I can do pleases her. Now she's marrying the richest snob in our town. Who also hates me. And the day they wed, I will be shipped off to a boarding school in northern England. My friends are all very superficial. Well, except for Lacey. And, my boyfriend? I won't even go into details about him...." I trailed off.

"No, tell me about him."

"You don't want to hear."

"Why do you say that?"

"It's....it's embarrassing."

"Hey, I'm not going to laugh at you. You can tell me." he said lovingly. I was shocked at house nice he was being. It was great being able to fully open up to someone. I just never thought it would be Levi.

"He....he tried to...do things with me...that I didn't want to do..."

"Are you serious?! You should have broken up with him!" anger filled his tone.

"It's not that simple...And...there's more."

"Go on." He stated, softly again.

"He...Well, he hit me on-one day at sch-school." My voice cracked.

I heard him sigh angrily. "You should have invited him down here. I would have taken care of him." He growled.

I shook my head. "No. It's alright. I'm used to it." I sighed, sniffling. Tears rolled slowly down my cheeks.

Levi scooted closer to me and placed a hand on my shoulder, rubbing it caringly. "Hey, it's alright. Don't worry about him, or any of it."

I smiled slightly. "Thanks you....Oh, Levi, you never told me what was wrong with yourself."

He let his hand drop and shrugged. "My problems aren't as great as
yours."

"Sure, they are. Shoot."

"Okay," he began, " when I was seven, I was staying at my grandmother's one night. My mother pregnant - only one more month until my little sister would be born - and thought she was having troubles with her pregnancy. Dad had taken her to the doctor's office. My grandmother and I were overjoyed when she called from the hospital saying everything was alright, and that my sister was perfectly healthy. Well, hours rolled by and my parents didn't make it back home. I thought they were probably at dinner. But, later, we received a call from the hospital. My grandmother had answered the phone. She was calm at first, but that soon turned into panick. She quickly hung up the phone, grabbed me by the arm and we ran to the car. On the way to the hospital, she explained my parents had been in a severe car crash. They were both critically injured. Sure enough, we were too late. My father had died. My mother was in surgery. Turns out, all that was left from my mother was a beautiful baby sister. They had somehow saved her. And that's why I work at a grocery store and mechanics shop. I have a sister and grandmother to support."

I had teared up by the end of his story. "Wow, I had no reason to complain about my life."

"Sure you do. And, believe it or not, I wouldn't want to trade situations with you."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because I'm surrounded by people that love me. I'm free to do
whatever I want. You don't have that, do you?"

I shook my head. "No, I'm surrounded by no one that loves me. And I only wish I was free."

"So, there you go." he stated.

I nodded, comparing our situations. "Anyway, Levi, I want to thank you for talking with me tonight. I...well, I though you hated me."

"No." He said. "I just misunderstood you. And talking with you was my pleasure."

I smiled at him. "Well, I think I'm going to go to bed now. Thanks again."

"Anytime." he replied.
