It was dark when she woke up. No light shown anywhere. Her lips stung and her tongue was swelled up in her mouth. Her hands and feet were tied together, and it was hard to move. Her blonde hair felt lank around her face and her chest and ribcages ached, as did the back of her neck. Every part of her that was touching the floor felt somewhat damp.
She looked at the floor and tears started to fall down her face.
Whether it was her blood or someone else's, she knew this was no dream.
Katie screamed.
She heard a chuckle behind her.
The Silhouette Man.
"Like that will do any good."
So lock and load mercenaries.
I see the smoke from the hilltop.
They march one by one.
"I told you something was gonna happen," Emily said quickly to her mother as they and Mikey walked out of a police station to tell them about all the contact that Mikey, who was also good friends with Katie, and Emily had had with Katie in the past 48 hours. Mikey looked pale as he climbed in the back of the car and Emily got shotgun.
Her mother pursed her lips. "Are you sure you told them everything?" she asked, looking at her youngest child. Emily had been questioned the longest, since she had seen her last.
"I told them everything." Emily had told the police that she had a weird feeling one night that someone was watching her. They looked at her skeptically, as if they thought that she was paranoid, like she had feared. Katie was just another missing person report and they believed that she just ran away for some time.
Just ran away, Emily thought fiercily. Katie is the most well-behaved person on the face of the earth. How can her own mother believe that B.S.?
The rest of the drive home was silent and the air was heavy. Getting home, Emily was the first one in the door. She ran upstairs and grabbed the phone, plopping on her bed and dialing Brandon's mind-programmed number quickly.
He picked up on the second ring. "Hey Emily," he said quietly. "I heard what happened. It's on the news."
Emily sighed as she recalled everything that happened at the police. "They don't want to think anything bad has happened since it's such a quiet community. They think she ran away."
Brandon was quiet. There was a long pause until he broke it. "I'm coming back down tonight."
Emily blinked. "What? No! You don't have to!"
He laughed. "After what you told me last night? Everything feeling awkward and watched? Not to mention one of our best friends has gone missing! I'm worried."
Emily bit her lip. "Are you sure I wasn't just being paranoid?"
"I trust your judgement," he said kindly and softly. She couldn't help it, but the sincere tone in his voice made her eyes swell with tears for the first time that day.
"I love you," she said quietly, sniffing.
She could just imagine him smiling. "I love you, too."

The smoke has cleared
Thousands are destroyed
They send signals no salvation.

She was so thankful that she wasn't harmed. Katie shook dangerous in the dark basement of a place she didn't know of. She was still aching, but more aware and alert.
Nothing has happened.
It must have been a day already.
This is unusual.
I can't get out.
Will I ever get free?
Will anyone look for me?
Or am I gone?
Please, tell me I'm not alone.
We fight in lock out
Scope is ready to go
Armed with explosives

Mikey looked at Emily as she paced up and down her living room. She was in a deep thought and he was watching her with glazed-over eyes, still thinking of Katie. Finally, he was able to say something.
"What do you think happened?" he croaked out.
Emily stopped pacing, taking her hands and running them through her hair. She looked at her brother and spoke quietly. "I think she was taken."
Mikey's face dropped. "But...but...there was no sign of--"
"I was just telling you what I believed," Emily said, unable to keep the tears out of her eyes. She blinked a few times as she saw him get angrier and angrier.
"Don't say that! Don't say that like she's gone! Don't say it like someone has her! Don't!" he said, standing up and yelling.
Emily wiped her eyes. "I've felt a bad feeling lately. I can't explain it, but she didn't run away," she said, biting her lip.
He didn't like that. "There you go! I bet you're making it up! I bet you just want attention, because everyone's focusing on finding her, and not paying attention to you! You're the youngest child, no one needs your opinion, Emily."
Her mouth went dry and the only thing she could think of saying is "Brandon believes me." Mikey liked Brandon, and respected him as her boyfriend.
But today was different.
"I don't care what that kid thinks, he's just puts up with you because he's getting some!"
Emily's mouth fell open and tears can pouring down her face. She grimaced, and looked fiercly at her brother. "Mom was like this, too," she said viciously. It caught him off guard as she said this, but she didn't see the look on her face as she turned around and grabbed her jacket, running out of the door into the night sky.

This is Katie and Mikey.
They are pretty good friends.
Very old friends.
Brandon moved to Delaware when he was 15.
So, he's only known them for two years.
He and Mikey get along well.
Mikey has his own friends, too, but most are away for break.
I'll intro one sooner or later.
I considered calling this "The Silhouette Man".
But I think it fits better this way.
The album really describes what I imagined the story to be like.
Well, I hope you liked it!
