Amy was a beautiful 16 year-old girl. She had dark brown hair and emerald green eyes. She was kind, caring, loving, and self confident. She was friends with EVERYONE at school. She was one of those girls who you couldn't help but love. Not only was she loved by her peers and teachers, she was loved by many boys. She had a few relationships but no boy stood out to her. No boy was as specail as Derek. He was the boy who all the girls drooled for. He was the boy who played football and ran track. He was the boy that stood out to Amy. So on one beautiful sunny day she decided to slip a note in his locker telling him to met her at 4:30 out by the lake in the woods behind the school.

There she waited on one of the rocks. She just watched the lake and the little waves that barely touched her feet. She closed her eyes to enjoy the feeling and sounds of the nature around her. Then she felt a tap on her shoulder. She jumped from the sudden contact. There was a laugh and she looked up to see Derek chuckling to himself,"Sorry I scared you Amy. You put the note in my locker didn't you?" she gave a fake glare,"Yeah I gave you the note." he walked over to the shore of the lake and stood there looking down at his reflection,"So you like me?" she blushed and nodded,"Yeah I do." he walked away from the shore and looked into her eyes. Her blood began to race as he leaned in. She started to close her eyes, but opened them when he spoke,"Is that a pimple?" she stepped back with confusion and disguist,"I can't have pimples! I have to good of a complexion. I have a picture show going on tomorrow..." he kept rambling on about his face and good looks,"Excuse me, Derek?" She said annoyed. He looked up,"What?" he asked it like HE was annoyed,"I like you...don't you remember that? I said it about 10 minutes ago. Do you like me or what?" She said the last part kinda loud and he stood there thinking.

He then smirked,"Listen, Amy, your pretty and all but..."he was looking for the right words then he sighed,"okay let's get to the point. You're just not pretty enough. Not for me anyway. You're too skinny and you're eyes are just...your too ugly Amy." she stood in shock and anger. Tears started to fill her eyes,"Amy I'm too beautiful for you." She let the tears fall freely as he walked away.

She walked into her room wet and depressed. Her parents were in paris for the next week so she was home alone. She got some PJ's and took the hottest shower ever. She let the water run on her for at least 20 minutes before She decided to get out and sleep. She fell on her bed and pulled the covers over herself. While lying there she realized that she's never been this sad ever. He hurt her so bad. He thought he was the god of beauty and she was the ugly duckling. A little light bulb clicked in her head and she cried. She closed her eyes knowing it was the only way and she let herself sleep for tomorrow was to bring big suprises.

The next day she woke up depressed. She walked into the bathroom and saw a mess. She brushed her hair and put on the most beautiful dress she had. She put on light make-up and ran down towards the school. When she saw the school she knew she was close to her destination. She went into the woods behind the school and searched for a little cottage by a stream. She came in contact with the little house. She saw the smoke rising from the chimeny. She smiled and knocked on the door. A big scary-looking old man stood in the doory-way. He looked at her and then smiled and bent down to hug her,"Amy! What has brought you here?" she smiled again,"I need a favor." her smile faded and she gave a dark look that even made him take a few steps back.

She stared at the dagger. It was quite beautiful, just how she had pictured it. It had different colored jewels near the bottom. She cried, for a long time,"Thank you. I hope to see you soon." He nodded and gave a concern look before closing the door. She ran to the lake. She stared at the dagger then her reflection and back again. She moved away and sat down on a rock. She looked at the sun. It was blazing. She let the warmth tingle on her skin,"Aw, look who's here. Hi Amy." she jerked her head so fast she thought she gave herself whiplash,"What the hell are you doing here?" she asked bitterly. He looked around the area, taking deep-breaths and smiling. She then stood up glaring at him. His eyes fell on the dagger. His eyes went wide and he took a step back,"What are you doing with that?" his voice was shakey. "Doing what needs to be done." she started to cry as she raised the knife.

She cried in pain as the knife entered her. She coughed and fell to the ground. Derek ran away as fast as he could. She layed there for a while still alive. The pain slowly left as did her sight. She finally died the dagger still in her heart. The sun shone brightly and made the jewels from the dagger spread different colors of light over her. Soon enough the colors of light spread throughtout the sky. It made the most beautiful rainbow the town had ever seen.

So they say that happiness can make beautiful rainbows...they lied...
