...
"Zack, Zack! Come look what we made!" The young man looked up as his two little siblings ran up excitable. In their hands, they held metal creatures. "Look! We followed the formula in the book, and we made these!" The girl held up a dog made of metal, and her twin held the very same thing. Zack smiled at them.
"I told you that you could do it."
She looked over to her twin and they laughed.
"Yeah, you did!"

It was the talk of the headquarters.
The famous Fullmetal Alchemist and infamous Shadow Alchemist were going to fight.
Everyone was taking bets, hoping theyd get a little cash out of it. However, some weren't as pleased.
"You did what!?" Ed flinched as his colonel screamed at him. Roy Mustang was not very happy when he heard the news. Glaring at the fifteen year old, his hands flattened on top of his desk.
"Do you realize what you just did?" He hissed.
Ed snorted slightly and crossed his arms in defiance. "I challenged her."
Roy sighed, trying to keep his anger on a tight leash. It was really tempting to strangle the kid at the moment.
"Do you even know who you challenged?"
Ed blinked and slowly frowned. "Um...no. Do you?"
Roy sighed and fell back into his chair. "Not personally, no. However, Ive heard about her. Mainly for her battle assessments." He looked up at Ed, giving him a dark look.
"No one has beaten her yet. And everyone that has challenged her, doesn't leave in one piece."

"Zaire."
"Hm....?" I didnt look up, but continued to look through the papers I had in my hand, as I rocked back and forth on my chair. Each one of us had our own stack of papers to go through, as annoying as it was. Armstrong, Jessica and I were the only ones in the office at the moment, and I had a feeling it was going to get ugly.
"You aren't going to hurt him...are you?"
Without my eyes leaving the paper in front of me, I knew what was going on around me. Armstrong, by now, had looked up curiously and Jess was looking at me with worry at concern.
"It a battle assessment Jessica. What do you think were going to do? Have tea?"
I could tell that her face was now filled with shock and surprise but was now probably changing to anger.
"He's only fifteen! Hes just a child!"
I didn't look up still. "He's old enough to make his own decisions. He left his childhood behind when he joined the military. Besides, if you had forgotten, he challenged me."
"Zaire Kimbley!" I snapped my head up and glared back at her, making her flinch slightly but she still continued. "You could of refused! Just because he joined the military at a young age like you did, doesn't mean hes like you! He didn't make the same mistake-"
That was the line she shouldn't of crossed. Standing up abruptly, causing my chair to violently fall over, I stomped over to her. Of course, she backed up as I stalked towards her angrily, but she was cornered at a wall in no time.
"Never," I snarled, my hand snapping up and grabbing her throat threateningly.
"Never, ever mention that again. You should know better. Friend or not, I will not let you repeat what shouldn't be spoken."
She was terrified by now, tears leaking out of her brown eyes. I wasn't choking her, no, I still had enough of a hold on my sanity that I wouldn't do such a thing but the threat was still there. There was a long silence, even the birds outside seemed to stop chirping.
"Zaire, do I need to get Colonel Archer?" Armstrongs calm voice spoke, breaking the tense silence. I let go of Jessica, and looked away. I knew why I wasn't feeling remorse for almost choking one of my friends.
"No Armstrong." I turned away from her and walked back to my desk. I didn't sit down though but just stood there, looking down at the white papers.
"Tell Colonel Archer that I will turn these in tomorrow morning." Picking up the papers and tucking them under my arm, I left the room, leaving them behind. Leaving another fault behind.

Finally, what seemed like forever, I made it to my apartment.
It was still the same mess, it was still dimly lit like always. The books were still scattered on the floor, the bed still never made.
But it seemed so much more lonely. Ever since that boy and the others came, everything had screwed up.
Just because he joined the military at a young age like you did, doesnt mean hes like you! He didnt make the same mistake-
I dropped the papers down on the floor, not really caring if they were out of order, and fell on to my bed. Curling up, I clutched my metal leg and begin to cry.
