The place was mostly empty. Not many customers in sight.

It was too early that Sunday morning.

The restaurant in the hotel was engulfed with the smell of fresh pancakes, waffles, and sausage.

I took in a deep breath, my nose dancing with pleasure.

It was breakfast heaven.

I grabbed Ashley's hand as we walked by the kitchen, and banged the door open, entering like I owned the place.

"Cassie! What are you doing?! We're not supposed to be here!" hissed Ashley, trying to pull away from my hard grip.

"You're hungry arent you? And besides, you know I'm fascinated with the art of cooking. Look, at least it's a better way to check out this hotel."

"And how are we going to do that? If they see us they'll kick us out! Besides, both of us are dead tired" replied Ashley, as she tried to pull again.

I walk further into the kitchen, hiding behind a corner when a worker walked by, pulling Ashley along with me.

"I know, I am really tired. But I want to see this. And we'll go undercover. Find a lost uniform or something, pretend to be workers, pig out on breakfast when they're not looking, and then head straight out of here and crash in our room" I muttered quickly, sticking my head out every few seconds to see if the coast is clear, only to hide again when another worker walks by.

Damn, how many people work here?

"No! I will not go along with your 'master mind' plan of stupidity. I wont. This is crazy Cass, were gonna get killed and its all because of you" Ashley pulled again, much harder this time.

Wow, she's stronger than she looks.

I turned to her, bemused.

"Okay, first of all, we're not gonna get killed dummy, this is grabbing some food, not committing murder. Second, since when have you ever been afraid to do things? You've always been the leader and the one with all the answers. Now I'm in that position? Why is that, my darling best friend?" I smirked, while putting my hair up in a messy bun.

Ashley groaned. "Okay fine! I'll go with you. But if we get caught, I'm not the genius behind the plan here, mkay?" she pointed a thin, clear polished finger at me, I pushed it away.

"Okay, chill dude. Dont be such a buzz kill" I laughed, ruffling her hair, then turned and walked away from the corner. She followed.

I gingerly walked towards the staff only door, and pushed it open, keeping an eye out for anyone that might see me.

I entered another door, and there it was, a cart filled with yellow uniforms.

I smiled at Ashley, looked down at the cart, and quickly looked through it, trying to find two smalls.

"Got 'em"

I handed one to Ash, locked the door, and quickly started to take off my blue tank top.

"Cassie! We're gonna change? In here?"

I turned to look at her, my tank top off mid way.

"Got a better idea?"

She grunted, while beginning to dress down, which consisted of a designer shirt, a jacket, and jeans.

"What kind of uniforms are these anyway?" Ashley groaned, trying to untangle her shirt from her necklace.

"Hmmm let me see..." I turned the uniform around to see the front and saw a pin that read "Raechel, Waitress".

"Wow. Looks like we're gonna be waitresses!"

"How do you know?" Ashley stuck her head from behind my shoulder to look at the shirt, already changed in uniform.

"It says it right here" I pointed at the word waitress on the pin.

"Her last name is waitress?" Ashley stared at it intently.

I laughed "No you silly, it means she's a waitress. These are waitress' uniform. Gosh Ash, youre really dumb sometimes."

She growled, which I easily replied with a grin.

Once we were changed and ready, we silently exited the small room and began to walk around the kitchen, acting as workers as best as we can.

"You know, these uniforms are really cute" whispered Ashley, as she walked behind me.

"Yeah, I know. The restaurant that runs this kitchen must be very classy." I replied, twirling my brown hair around a finger, which was now in pig tails.

"Classy? Maybe it's one of those jukebox roller skating kinda restaurants"

"Nah, its not a fifties joint Ash, its probably just a cute, little par-"

"Oh hello, you two must be the new waitresses. Im Jim, the manager of this restaurant." said a tall, lean, black man with a bright smile, interrupting me.

He had his hand out, so I immediately took it into a handshake.

"Hi, yes, we're the new waitresses. Nice to meet you Jim" I replied with my best winning smile, while still shaking his hand. After a few seconds he pulled away.

"And your names are?" he looked closely at the pins on our uniforms "Raechel and Kelly . Welcome aboard. And I must say you two are very lovely girls. We'll probably get more customers here with you two around."

I blushed "Th-Thank you Sir. Great to be on board" I quickly took Ashley's hand and wanted to run, only we didn't have the chance.

"Wait just a minute, as your first assignment I would like you to fill out this order and bring it to the customers." He handed each of us a small yellow paper.

"Alright sir. Thank you. We'll complete it asap." Ashley replied, while smiling and batting her eyelashes.

"Good. I'll check up on you later" he turned and walked away, leaving us alone.

I looked down at my paper, reading what I have to do. Table nine. Two apple pies. One cherry pie. Three blueberry pies. Two iced teas. Four waters. Order # 49. it said, scribbled in such a way it was almost impossible to read.

"Okay then, let's go to the pantry and do this thing."

I turned and walked off, looking around for the main kitchen where the chefs were.

"But I don' 'wanna work! I 'wanna eat! And sleep!" called Ashley from behind, running up to me.

"Oh, dont be such a big baby Ash, let's just get this thing done and then we'll be able to eat and sleep. Mkay?" I patted her head, and then walked straight, directly towards the main kitchen.

When I reached the counter where the chefs put out the food, I looked for the tray that had an order # 49 tag on it. Once I found it, I easily took the tray and balanced it on my shoulder.

"Whoa, how'd you do that?" Ashley gasped, jaw open.

"Pshh, you do remember my mom opened a little restaurant of her own for a while don't you? It was my last summer job? I was a waitress?" I smirked, what's up with Ashley lately?

Hmmm, she must have over inhaled the gas fumes when she went to the gasoline station to fill up her car again.

"Oooooh, right. Now I remember" she grinned, like everything was right in the world.

"Ash, are you alright? You're not like your usual self" I huffed, a concerned frown crossing my face, as I switched the silver round tray filled with food and drinks to my other shoulder.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just peachy. Dont worry about me Cass. Geez, you're always like that. You feel as if you have to mother each of us all the time" she sighed, as she looked at her paper, then walked up to the counter and took her tray, attempting to balance it on her shoulder, but failed miserably.

"Ash, the only reason I'm like that is because someone needs to look after you guys. I mean, you're the leader of our group, so you should understand. You girls always get into all kinds of messes. And you drag me along and I get to be the one cleaning up after you. So, I guess I've become used to looking after you guys so much that it became a habit" I sighed, while turning and walking towards the door to the actual restaurant, opening it.

Once I entered I immediately looked around, admiring the classy and cute look of the place.

It looked more like a diner then a restaurant. But I guess sense it's in a Hilton Hotel it's got to sound fancy.

I walked towards the sitting customers and looked for my table.

Table nine. Hmm.

"Oh!" I smiled, once I found it.

I walked towards the table, in the most straight and mannerly manner possible.

Yep, that's modeling for you. I never really liked it. So I quit after about two years.

"Hello" I beam, while setting down the tray on the table as carefully as possible.

"Here is your food and drinks. Is there anything else I can get you?" I asked, while quickly taking out a pen and notepad that I found in the kitchen.

The people sitting at the table were two small children, two adults, who I guessed were the parents, and one really cute teenage boy, who was smiling at me.

"Nope. That will be all, thank you so much" said the man, a small smile on his overly tanned face.

I smiled back "You are most welcome. Enjoy your pie." I picked up the tray and walked into the kitchen, where I found Ashley waiting, her arms crossed.

"Ash, did you already serve your table?" I asked from behind, while I passed her and handed the tray to a chef in the main kitchen.

"Yeah, but when I told one of the men at the table that his tie was hideous, he said I was a skanky waiter" she grunted, while observing her hair for any split ends.

"Wh-what?!" I yelled, while walking back to her.

"Ash, why did you do that? That man could have told the manager and get us both in trouble!"

I looked at her, and stood still as best as I could, I wanted to strangle her for her stupidity.

"Well sorry. You know I always say what I think. And cut me some slack, I've never been a waitress before."

She clucked, while making bubbles out of her bubble gum.

I sighed, "Okay fine. But seriously Ash, I may sound bossy here, but listen to me when I say shut up."

I grabbed a small white towel and handed it to Ashley "Take this and start cleaning the metal counters that have the pots and pans. I'm gonna go and try to grab some food okay? Then we can go."

She looked at the towel in her hands in disgust, and then held it with two fingers away from her like it was a disease.

I huffed; she is such a girly girl.

"I can't go clean like this." She squeaked, looking from the metal counters to the towel and back again.

"Okay fine. At least pretend alright? Whenever a boss walks by act like you're working. Okay? Simple enough?" I grunted, waiting for her to agree.

She thought for a moment, looking at me before nodding.

"Okay."

"Good"

I nodded, then walked towards the kitchen.

Damn, the people I become best friends with these days.
