"'Lita! Wifey, I'm home!"
"Yukio! Stoppit, daddy's home, pause the game!"
"Boom! Headshot! Gotcha, Ryo!"
"You are such a cheater, you little snake in the grass!"
"Tiger, you big dumb Ox."
"I'll get you for that, Yukio! Dad!"
Ayame laughed, hanging his coat in the closet as he made his way into the house. He liked this, coming home to a full house, dinner cooking in the kitchen and kids running around everywhere.
"Dad!" exclaimed Ryo, his eldest daughter at sixteen years old, dashing to his side and throwing her arms around him, "Tell Yukio to stop using the sniper rifle during a two-player run of Halo! It's completely unfair! And tell him to stop calling me stupid!"
"Well, it's not my fault she's too stupid to not find me." the Tiger teased, sticking his tongue out at his older sister. He was twelve, just entering his moody phase, and liked to take everything out on anyone but him.
"Yukio, you need to be nice to your sisters." said Ayame, hugging his younger daughter, Nana, as she ran up to greet him, "I don't care that they're both older than you, you still need to protect them."
"Well, why?" he asked, puffing out his cheek, "They're older and bigger than I am, so why should I have to look out for them?"
"That's because, one day, you're going to be a lot bigger than they are, and they're going to get themselves into trouble, and they're going to need you to get them out of it." Ayame winked, ruffling his light brown hair, "Besides, you're going to help me when they start bringing boyfriends home."
"Ugh, Dad!" Ryo groaned, "Come on!"
"I promise I'll be nice." he smiled, "As long as he's a respectful young gentleman, who I believe is truly worthy of my daughter's love."
"Ugh, not this again." Nana laughed, as he began to launch into a monologue about back in his high school days. And wonderful days they were, where he became close to the one woman he loved most.
"Ayame!" a sing-song voice called out. He paused in his speech to lock eyes with the curly brunette-headed woman in the kitchen's archway. She giggled, walking over to embrace her husband. "Welcome home, Ayame."
He smiled then, mellowing out as he wrapped his arms around her, holding the slighter woman tight, truly home at last.
