Rain pounded against the windows of the living room. The way the raindrops splattered on the glass reminded me of the scene in Disturbia ---except it was water, not blood--- which is what I was currently watching. I glanced at the fruit rollup that was sticking to my fingers, but looked back up when I realized that Shia Labeouf and the girl (whose name is lost to me) finally noticed that there was a murder going on right next door.
"The idiots," I accidentally said out loud.
Right then the power decided to shut itself off. Oh what great luck I have.
"But it was right at the good part!" I screamed at the screen. I knew it wasnt going to come on anytime soon, so with a groan I got up and threw a handful of popcorn at the screen. I walked through the hallway ---only lighted by the occasional flash of lightning--- of the Victorian house I lived in until I found the circuit breaker box. I flipped a switched up inside of it and the lights came on.
I held my breath. No vampires attacked or kidnapped me to take me to a magical world like I had hoped. Come on, this was the perfect situation for something like that to happen. But instead the interesting thing I got was my dog randomly running into a wall.
I did the only thing I could do... laugh my ass off at the ball of fluff that we claimed to be a maltese. I finally got out of the clan of hysterics I had dug a hole into. I slid into the living room and pressed the POWER button. Since the TV was determined to keep me from watching the movie, it turned to the news.
"Im here on the scene of a very recent murder. A boy around the age of 14 was found dead in his house. Police are not giving any information out about the identity of the boy. The news woman paused before continuing her story One of the neighbors had called the police after they heard screaming coming from inside the house. They claim to have seen a person hanging around the area earlier today, although they are unable to identify the any characteristics of the person."
My heart seemed to stop and my blood ran cold when they zoomed out at the house. I knew that house. Oh my God, please no. In a split second I moved from my spot on the floor into the pouring rain.
And I ran.
