A Beautiful Disaster - Chapter 3 - Kai Hiwatari
Karin smiled politely at Ceceilia who returned it with a small grin.
"I'm sure you girls will be great friends," said Mr.Dickinson. "Now, you better return to Homeroom. Have a nice day."
"Same to you, Sir," Karin replied.
The girls walked silently down the hall. Both were too shy to talk.
Ceceilia, talk to her! Start a conversation! You could actually make a new friend! Draiza encouraged.
And if she doesn't want to talk or be my friend? Ceceilia thought.
Always with the negative attitude.
Oh, shut up and leave me alone!
In her previous schools, Ceceilia hadn't been able to make any friends. She only talked to people when necessary. She never managed to fit in.
Only when they reached the stairs did one of the girls gather up the courage to speak.
"I noticed that you also have a Spirit," Karin said shyly. "Draiza, right?"
"Yup. Yours is...um, sorry, I forgot the name," Ceceilia said sheepishly.
"Oh, that's alright. Mine is called Drazer," said Karin. "How do you like this school so far?"
"It's OK. Really big," Ceceilia answered.
"All the freshman classes are on this floor," Karin explained. They were on the second floor, continuing their walk to Homeroom. "The sophmore's on the third, junior's on the fourth, and senior's on the fifth. We have our Advanced Classes on the fifth. Sixth floor is the cafeteria and the seventh floor has the gyms, auditorium, library, and the indoor pools." She stopped at Room 203 and opened the door, and they stepped in.
All eyes turned to Ceceilia while Karin took her seat at the back of the class. Ceceilia saw her cousin whisper something to the blond boy beside him. Then, they waved to her.
"Class, this is Ceceilia Granger, obviously a new student. I'm Mr.Kamiya, it's nice to meet you," the teacher said. He was young, had brown hair and green eyes. "You may take a seat beside Karin."
Ceceilia did what she was told.
Her Homeroom class, followed by English, were both taught by Mr.Kamiya who wasn't bad. He was nice and didn't get pissy when a student didn't pay attention.
Ah, if only every teacher was like that.
"We have Advanced Math next," Karin said to Ceceilia once the bell rang. "We have enough time to drop off your bag at your locker if you'd like," she offered.
"Nah, it's OK," said Ceceilia. "I'll wait till lunch. I prefer having my bag with me."
As they headed upstairs to the fifth floor, Ceceilia noticed that everybody was with at least a few friends. No one was alone.
"Hey, Karin," she started without thinking, "why aren't you with your friends? I mean, everybody's with a group of people."
Karin gave her a smile but her eyes were sad. "I don't exactly have friends." She said it like it was no big deal but Ceceilia knew better. "People think I'm geeky."
Ceceilia liked this girl. "I can understand," she said honestly. Then, taking Karin by surprise a bit, she slung an arm around her shoulders and gave her a grin. "Well, consider myself your new, true friend!"
"Mr.Dickinson was right, we are going to be great friends!" Karin laughed.
...
"You know, that was a bit dramatic," Karin admitted.
"And corny," Ceceilia agreed.
Both girls gave a little laugh before they entered Room 506, just as the bell rang.
The teacher wasn't in the classroom. The students were, sitting on desks and chatting.
"Mr.Darton is always late," Karin led Ceceilia to the back of the classroom and took a seat, gesturing to an empty seat beside her which Ceceilia took.
Ceceilia felt as though she was being watched. She observed her classmates. The largest group caught her attention.
The group consisted of:
A brown haired girl with gold highlights and light blue hair. Ceceilia knew it wasn't nice to judge others by their looks and appearance but she instantly disliked the girl. She was dressed in a loose hot pink mini skirt and a tight, white tube top. She looked like a model. All the other girls in the group except one were dressed like her.
A red haired boy with icy blue eyes. He had an arm wrapped around the waist of the girl who stood out from the other girls in the group. She had two - toned hair; light orange and red, and green eyes. She was dressed in a long black shirt with a broken heart on the chest and jeans.
A raven black haired, golden eyed boy, like the redhead, had an arm wrapped around a pink haired girl who wore alot of pink. Ceceilia assumed they were Rei and Mariah.
But Ceceilia was more interested in the boy with the blue and grey two - toned hair who was leaning against a window. He had blue triangle markings on his face. He looked like Karin. They had the same eyes...His eyes locked into hers. It remained that way for a moment, then, she looked away, breaking the eye contact. She still felt his eyes on her.
"Karin, who are those people?" Ceceilia asked, giving a quick glance back to the group.
"They're...just a few of the 'popular'," Karin answered. "The brunette girl, the one with the white tube top, is Cassia. She's a total slut. She's pretty stupid like the rest of her posse. I bet she paid the teachers to be in the Advanced classes."
Ceceilia nodded. "Tyson told me a bit about her."
"The other girls around her are the same, except for Julia Fernandez," continued Karin. "She's the one with the orange and red hair. The dude who's holding her is Tala Valkov, my brother's best friend. I'm sure you can guess who that is. His name's Kai and for some reason, he's staring at you."
"Kinda creepy, if you ask me," Ceceilia mumbled.
"It's weird, actually," said Karin thoughtfully. "He's never been interested in a girl before."
"Maybe he's gay," suggested Ceceilia playfully.
"Ew! Now images of Kai and Tala are stuck in my head," Karin laughed.
"So that dude with the black hair in a ribbon thingy is Rei?" Ceceilia asked. "And Pinky is Mariah?"
Karin nodded. "I don't get why he even likes her," she said, disgusted. "She's snobby, pink, her voice is too high pitched and she's a total suck up!"
Ooo, was that jelousy Ceceilia sensed?
"Anyway, Rei, Kai, Julia, Tala and Mariah also have Spirits," said Karin. "Rei's Driger, Julia's Thunder Pegasus, Kai's Dranzer, Tala's Wolborg, and Mariah's Galux."
A brunette from the 'popular' group made her way to where Ceceilia's desk was and dropped a crumpled piece of paper on it after giving her a glare and left.
"That's Sisely," Karin said as Ceceilia smoothed out the note.
Kai watched his little sister and her new friend make their way to the back of the class. He assumed that she was the new girl.
Quite a pretty thing he thought.
Drazer tells me she's the mistress of Draiza his Spirit, Dranzer said.
He onserved the girl more closely and saw the black pendant dangling from her neck.
She looked around the room, stopping at his 'group' and friends. Her eyes met his. It only remained that way for a moment before she broke away, blushing.
Nearly every girl did that : Look at him and blush. She was no different.
Yet Kai kept staring at the girl, unsure why. He was sure they never met but something about her seemed familiar...He realized that when they locked eyes.
"Kai, sweetie, who're you looking at?" Cassia asked innocently, occasionally glancing at the new girl. What a fake.
"Hn, no one," he answered, looking away from the girl.
Out of the corner of his eye, Kai saw Cassia scribble something down on a piece of paper, then giving it to Sisely, whispering something into her ear. Sisely left.
She dropped the paper on the girl's desk.
I saw you looking at MY Kai! Keep away from him or else I'll make your life a living Hell!
-Cassia
"I thought you said Kai wasn't interested in any girl," Ceceilia said.
"He isn't. Cassia just likes to think that Kai likes her," Karin explained. "Idiot."
"Man, it's not even lunch yet an I made enemies with the 'populars'," Ceceilia sighed. "Great."
"Alright kids, get your butts in your seats!"
