CHAPTER THIRTEEN
They’d had fun for the rest of that day and had had an interesting encounter with the press, having to sneak away before they could see them. Apparently the news had received a tip off that the prince and a girl were at the amusement park so Gail and Danny laughingly climbed over a back fence and ran back to the car.

The next day Gail was surprised when Danny woke her in the morning and brought her to the kitchen to get some food and then led her to one of the living rooms, where his mom and dad were sitting around a table on the floor, the tv playing the news.

“Oh, hello,” his mother said, smiling at Gail. Gail smiled back and sat down on one of the cushions as Danny sat next to her, squeezing her hand before letting go.

“Well, we think it’s time to introduce you two as engaged. Gail, there are a few pictures of yourself and Daniel already in the newspapers and things are getting scandalous, what with Daniel’s declaration of marriage,” said his father, smiling kindly and jumping straight to the point.

Gail blinked at him and Danny nodded knowingly. “Oh,” she said softly. “What exactly does that imply, then?”

Daniel’s mother smiled. “Just a small gathering of some people,” she said amiably and Gail was relieved. She’d been afraid that it would be a lot of people. She nodded, smiling.

“So, that’ll be in about a week. It’s really short notice but that’s just how it needs to be,” Daniel’s mother continued. Gail nodded easily. “And you and Daniel will need to go and find your clothes,” she said after a moment, looking thoughtful. “I think that Lloyd would be a good choice.”

Daniel and his father seemed to like the idea and nodded, although Gail had no idea what was going on. “I believe today would be best,” she said, looking at the window.

“Ok,” Danny said, smiling at Gail. “Come on and we’ll get started,” he said, offering her a hand.

They ended up in a tailors shop and Gail looked around in wonder at all of the fabrics. “Wow, there’s so many,” she said, awestruck.

Danny came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. “Which do you like?” he asked, his breath spilling over her neck. She shivered and looked around.

“Um, that one,” she said after a moment, just to distract herself from his body pressed against hers. He looked up, grabbing her hand and going over to the fabric she’d pointed at. It was a lovely red, soft fabric and she found that she actually did like it.

“Yeah, that’s a nice one,” Danny said, turned at smiling at her. Under his gaze, she blushed, her heart fluttering as his hazel eyes sparkled.

“Don’t do that,” she muttered, turning to the fabric.

“Do what?” he asked mischievously, gently turning her and tilting her chin up so that she had to stare into his eyes, or look like a fool.

“This,” she said breathlessly, her hands fluttering nervously as she longed for him to kiss her and yet felt embarrassed by the display in public, even though no one could see them currently.

“This?” he asked, smiling slightly, moving closer to her and lowering his lips so that they hovered over hers.

She groaned and plunged her hands into his hair. “Yes,” she replied, pulling his lips down to hers.

When he broke away, he smiled and she was almost devastated by the sweetness there. It certainly wasn’t what she was expecting. “That was cute,” he said, grinning and turning back to the fabric. “So, this one?” he asked, picking up the fabric by the large pole in the middle. She nodded. “Ok, come on and we’ll go find Lloyd.”

And find Lloyd they did. The man was talking to a woman that looked to be about his age animatedly. When he saw them he quickly broke off the conversation and turned, smiling. “Prince Daniel!” he exclaimed and Gail was oddly surprised that he sounded straight.

“Lloyd,” Danny replied, smiling and shifting the material in his hand to shake Lloyd’s hand. “This is my fiancée, Gail,” he said, turning and smiling at Gail. She smiled tentatively back at Lloyd who grinned and shook her hand as well.

“How wonderful! Now I can boast that I was the first to meet her!” he said, laughing. “Now, give me that fabric before you get it soiled,” he said, taking the roll from Danny, who merely smiled.

“Oh, yes, very good choice,” he said to himself. “For her presentation, I assume?” he asked, with a mischievous smile.

Danny laughed and drew Gail closer to his side. “Of course,” he said easily, his fingers distracting her as they caressed her skin absently.

Lloyd’s eyes jumped to Danny’s fingers when Gail placed her hand over his and he chuckled. “Well, let’s get these measurements,” he said, beckoning to her.  She obediently stepped forward and was surprised when he immediately whipped out a measuring tape and held it firmly to her waist, extending it down her leg to her foot.

She jumped slightly and Danny grinned at her. “Don’t worry, he doesn’t mean anything by it,” he said simply, his eyes lingering over her figure for a moment, “even if I would,” he muttered and she had to suppress a smile.

“Very small,” Lloyd muttered to himself, straightening and writing down the measurement. He then did a series of other measurements on her and she stood studiously still. He was finally finished and patted her shoulder. “Go on, then, I’ll have a fitting for you in three days.”

“What about the style?” she asked, confused.

“I’ll take care of that,” he said, “I know the perfect style.”
