Ok, this story is sort of a combination of Naruto and "Fruit's Basket". For those of you who don't know what Fruits Basket is, I'll give you the basic gist:
There is a family--the Sohma family--who have a curse on them. Twelve members of the family are possessed by the vengeful spirits of an animal from the Chinese Zodiac. (Dog, Dragon, Boar, Rat, Ox, Horse, Ram, Rabbit, Tiger, Rooster, Snake, and Monkey) If one of the cursed members of the family is hugged by a member of the opposite sex, they transform into their Zodiac animal for a short time before becoming human again (naked). This is a ferociously gaurded secret, and causes a great deal of emotional pain, and loneliness for the cursed members.
However, although the cat is not technically a member of the chinese zodiac, its vengeful spirit is so dedicated to the idea of defeating the rat, that it too possesses a member of the Sohman family. The cat dedicates most of it's time trying to defeat the rat (who tricked him out of the feast God was throwing *to hear the entire Zodiac story, look it up on Google*) but never manages to beat him. Because of his hateful nature, and its title as the 'most cursed', the cat is poriah, even amongst the other cursed members. The cat is usually alone, and at a certain age, is locked away from the rest of the world to live in solitary.
Also, in addition to the "hug curse" the cat has a 'true form' that is basically a monster. The cat is able to look human only by wearing a bracelet that keeps the monster from possessing the person's form.
----
Ok, ok, how this all applies to my story.
Tsio is the girl cursed by the cat. She is 16, her parents both abandoned her (as is common for parents of Zodiac members) and she harbors a great deal of anger.
Orochimaru discovered the Zodiac curse in his travels, and, immediately recognizing the cat as the most hateful, offered Tsio the chance to join him and leave the Sohma family behind.
Tsio agreed, but in order to break her bond to the head of the Sohma family (once again, for more detail I suggest you read "Fruits Basket" it's an AMAZING manga) Orochimaru bit her in order to instill a curse mark.
Orochimaru's curse-mark had af ew different effects. One of which was the increase of the cat's possession, therefore making Tsio's cat-like traits visable (cat ears, teeth, eyes, tail, sharp nails, etc.)
The second effect was the cat's true form became much more monstrous, and allows Orochimaru to transform Tsio into her true-form at will.

I have drawings that I think would help alot with descriptions and all, but I don't have a scanner (*wallows in self-pity* I am electronically deprived.)
I'll try to scan the pics somewhere else and add them. I'll post a message when I put them in!

So now to the story!______________________________________________________________________________

I sit edgily on one of the top-most branches of an old oak tree, letting my legs dangle freely while digging my sharp fingernails into the shallow bark. He's late. Again.
The seconds tick by on my internal clock, stretching my patience thin. It's fifteen minutes past the appointed rendezvous time. He's not even here yet and he's already managing to tick me off. A low hiss slips out from between my teeth. Suddenly a muffled 'pop' sound comes from the ground below.
"It's about time." I growl imperiously at the figure now standing at the base of my tree. "I could have slept in."
"Get down here." Kabuto orders in a bored voice, ignoring me as I let out another angry hiss. "I've got your orders." He adds, absently adjusting the glasses on the bridge of his nose.
I hop down to the ground in one silent leap, my tail thrashing angrily.
"Orochimaru-sama didn't come himself." I note irritably, scouring the shadows with my keen eyes.
"Obviously." Kabuto sighs, smirking as he sees my eyes continue to rake the surroundings suspiciously. "He happens to have more pressing matters to attend to."
"Really? What kind of mindless crap assignment is this, then?" My cold green eyes finally settle onto Kobuto's face, silently daring him to test my foul temper.
Kabuto grins at my mounting frustration, flipping through a folder that contains my most recent assignment from Master Orochimaru.
"Hm. That's just like him..."
"What?" I ask, my irritability draining as curiosity takes its place. Kabuto flips the folder shut and hands it to me.
"Reconaissance in Konoha. Two months."
"Reconaissance?" I sneer, my lip curling over my pointed incisor teeth. "You have got to be kidding."
"Sorry?"
"I'm built for attacks. Assasinations. Spying from a distance, maybe. But reconaissance? I don't exactly blend; they'll be on to me in half a second."
"I had a feeling you'd be like this." An oily voice airs from behind a tree. A second after I turn, Orochimaru steps out from his cover, a wide smirk on his pale face. "So argumentative, Tsio, it's unbefitting for a young lady."
The cat ears on my head twitch back in a clear display of instinctual warriness. Orochimaru's grin widens at the reaction. Damn. Even with my heightened hearing I hadn't heard him coming. In a few short strides the snake-like man is right infront of me, making my muscles tense instinctually.
"Still so apprehensive." Orochimaru croons, reaching up a pale hand to scratch the base of one of my ears. The touch was intoxicating, and my eyelids flutter shut as I draw a shallow breath into my lungs. Much too soon for my liking, Orochimaru pulls his hand away.
"Better?" He purrs, as my eyes snap open again. Damn it! Why do I always react like some timid kitten? I feel my cheeks grow pink as Master Orochimaru pulls the folder from my limp hand.
"You will be going to Konoha in order to collect information for an invasion. A simple task, really. I assume you can handle it?"
"Ridiculous." Is all I can choke out through the fuzziness still engulfing my head. "Why me?"
Orochimaru's golden eyes grow steely, clearing my dizzy head instantly. My ears fold flat against my head as my muscles rebunch around my chilled bones.
"Now, really, Tsio. Your arguments grow tiresome. Would you prefer to return to the Sohma house-hold? I understand that at your age, the cat is locked away in solitary."
My heart clenches spasmicly at his words. This curse will forever plague me, no matter where I am. Somewhere in the back of my mind a fuzzy fog tugs at my thoughts...I want to please Orochimaru...I am his, after all...
I shake my head sharply, dispersing the foggy thoughts.
"No, Master Orochimaru." I concede through gritted teeth.
"I thought not." He smirks, the anger leaving his cold eyes. "I think your unique situation can prove endearing to the tender-hearts at Konoha. I expect a report after two months."
I nod at his words, the tip of my limp tail twitching with the return of my frustration. Luckily he does not seem to notice as he begins walking away through the towering trees.
"Oh, and Tsio," Orochimaru adds, not turning to look at me as he speaks. "I expect you to be dedicated in your research."
I can hear the knowing smile in his voice, but can't quite figure out what he means. This just ticks me off even more, and my right ear gives an irritable twitch. Kabuto catches my mood and smiles as he follows after Orochimaru.
"Good luck, Puss." He calls, laughing as my ear gives another angry jerk at the sound of the hated nick-name.
Soon, I am left alone in the forest, a familiar anger bumbling up inside of me. With a cry of aggravation I swing my arm out, slicing my claws like a blade through the thick oak tree. The large wooden form shudders for a moment before falling to the ground with a groaning crash. The mighty form quakes for a moment, like some great dying beast. But then it is still;a carcass to silently decay in the forest.
I'm completely out of breath and stand, panting for a long time, waiting for the sudden wave of anger to ebb away. My now puffed-up tail slowly smooths out again as I let out a defeated sigh.
"Konoha then....marvelous..."
