"GO NEIL!!!" I screamed when he got on stage for his performance on So You Think You Can Dance. I was in the audience with Connor, and Annie. We had known Neil since freshman year of high school. Cody, Annie and I had been friends since we were kids but I met Neil on the first day of school. As I watched him getting ready to dance I realized that it was the performance we did during the senior talent show. I had sung a song called "Giving It All Tonight" from a band called Roses are Red and he did a contemporary dance to it. Watching him dance brought those memories flooding back.
"Leigh are you ready?" Neil asked. He turned around to see me crouched on the floor.
"Leigh are you okay?" he asked.
"Yeah Im fine just nervous is all." I said. The truth was that it was our senior year and he didnt know it but ever since I had met him I was in ♥love♥. After the show I was going to tell him how I felt about him, that was what was making me so nervous.
"Theres no need for you to be nervous sweetie, remember Ill be there with you." Neil said.
"I know but what if... I forget a word or a... verse or something?" I asked trying to make it seem like the show was what was making me nervous.
'Trust me, you wont mess up." Neil stated like it was a fact.
"And how do you know?" I asked looking into his beautiful eyes.
"Because when you put your heart into something..." he said while putting his hand on my heart.
"You never fail to get what you want." He finished.
"Leigh, Neil youre up." Connor said; he was working the side stage. That night had been perfect; well almost all of it. I had just pulled him to the side after our performance to tell him I loved him when it turned into crap.
"Neil can I talk to you?" I asked.
"Sure Leigh." Neil said following me to the back door.
"Look Neil, theres something I want to tell you." I said.
"What is it?" Neil asked.
"Neil I..." I started but was interrupted by someone screaming.
"NEIL!" she said and ran and hugged him and gave him a big kiss on the lips.
"Katie, hey baby." Neil said giving her a peck on the lips.
"Leigh this is my girlfriend Katie, she lives next door to me." Neil said giving Katie a loving look.
"Nice to meet you" I said putting on the best fake smile I could come up with.
"Honey could you go wait by the car for me please?" Neil asked. Katie nodded her head and he turned back to me.
"So what was it you wanted to tell me?" Neil asked.
"Nothing, just that you did good." I said willing myself not to cry. I quickly turned and ran to my car and drove home. On my way home I thought about what Neil said.
"Well I didnt get you." I said as my tears fell.
That was two years ago and were still friends and he still doesnt know that I love him. Sure I had tried dating but no one compared to Neil. Finally his dance was over and then he got his critiques from the judges. They were good and the night had ended. The three of us got to our hotel room when my cell phone started ringing. It showed that it was Neil.
"Hey Neil you did so wonderful!" I said into the phone.
"Thanks Im glad you came!" he said on the other end.
"Of course I came! What kind of best friend would I be if you didnt?" I said.
"I dont know, but I was wondering if you could meet me after the show tomorrow." Neil said.
"Sure you can meet me at our hotel, its the Hilton, room number 429." I said.
"Okay thanks. Love you bye!" Neil said then hung up. Did he just say love? I thought to myself. Hes never said love to me before. The next day we took our seats and the show began. Tonight was the night we found out who would be going home and who would be in the top two finalists. The host of the show had Neil step forward.
"Neil Im sorry but youre going home." She said and I felt like I could cry. This is what Neil wanted. He did his final performance and then we watched the others. Finally the taping was over and we went back to the hotel room. A little bit later I heard a knock on the door and I opened it to see Neil.
"Oh Im so sorry Neil!" I said giving him a big hug.
"Its alright. I got far enough for people to notice me." He said and took a seat on the bed.
"Where are Annie, and Connor?" he asked.
"Oh they went out to get some dinner." I said.
"So why did you want to talk to me?' I asked.
"Well Katie and I broke up." He said.
"Are you serious?" I asked trying to hide the joy in my voice.
"Yeah I broke up with her because I realized I loved someone else." Neil said.
"What do you mean love someone else?" I asked feeling a little downhearted again.
"I mean this..." Neil said and he kissed me. It was the most wonderful kiss I had ever felt. It was soft yet rough, and it definitely had a lot of passion.
"How did you know?" I asked when we finally broke the kiss.
"The night of the talent show. When I told you about Katie I saw all the love Id gotten used to seeing leave your eyes and I realized that you loved me. Only thats when my heart started realizing you were the one for me." Neil explained. I just looked into his eyes to see if he was messing with me and there was only honesty and love. I leaned forward and gave him a kiss just as my cd player changed to the song that had come to be our song; Giving It All Tonight.
