Weeks after the birth of Mr. and Mrs. Bunnys children, Mr. Bunny Charles was out scavenging for food. Mrs. Bunny remained at the hole with the children while Mr. Bunny was out.
As Charles came to a clearing in the forest, his ears perked at a small scuffling in a near-by bush. Frozen, Charles listened for any signs of another animal. When none came, he continued to the other edge of the clearing where berries grew on a bush.
While he was preoccupied with wondering how to get so many sweet barriers to his family, a fox suddenly pounced on him!

Mrs. Bunny found her husband some time later after he was gone for too long. She had searched frantically until she came upon him in a clearing.
"Oh, no!" she cried as she hopped to his side. "My love, what has happened?"
"It was a fox, my dear. A mean fox who was very rude and violent. Don't let the children know of it."
"Please dont leave us, my love! Please!"
"I am sorry. I have no strength left."
"Oh, how I love you so!" Mrs. Bunny cried.

"Nooo!" Mrs. Bunny cried as her husband went off to that grassy, berry-bush-covered forest in the sky.
