It was another day, another day of boredom. One week had past since Mitsu reunited with Itachi again. Or if you even call it that. She sighed, and quickly got ready for the day.
So, I don't have any missions today she thought, looking disappointed at the hokage. "All right" nodded Mitsu, understanding. She gave him a small bow and started leaving the room, looking sullen.
"Mitsu" said the hokage, stopping her.
"Yes?" she asked, turning to look at the hokage. Hopefully he had changed his mind and will give her some type of mission.
"Maybe you can teach the academy students for a day" suggested Iruka. "It has been ages since you have taught the students over at the academy," he added, pointing it out.
Mitsu's lips curved into a smile. "Well, it's better then nothing!" That means I'll meet Sasuke at the academy. I'll bet he will be happy to see me.
The hokage smiled back. "Well, you're dismissed."
----
"Mitsu-oneechan!" Sasuke shouted, gleaming with pride as he showed her how he threw his shuriken at the post.
Mitsu blinked, He seemed to progress over the days she noticed as the shuriken was right on the dot of the post. "Good job, Sasuke!" she clapped her hand, but then looked over at the boy name Naruto.
"Naruto?" you called him, getting his attention. He had been glaring over at Sasuke, obviously jealous. "Why don't you show us how you throw weapons" she suggested, giving the boy a warm smile.
"Really?!" He asked, his eyes widening and a huge smile forming across his face. But then he quickly looked down, as he frowned. "But I'm not good."
"Hey, everyone isn't good when they first start" she said, cheering him up. "To tell you the truth I was a terrible aimer. I almost hit my father once" she admitted, remembering when she was just a genin one year ago. To tell you the truth, she was a klutz when she was a genin. But now, she grew mature but again, was still a klutz at times.
Every academy student widened their eyes. "What? I can't believe Mitsu-sensei was a terrible thrower" mumbled one of the academy students as he remembered how well Mitsu had thrown the kunai.
"But Naruto isn't new at this!" shouted a girl with green name Mimi. "He's just dumb and can't do a thing!"
Naruto twitched in annoyance as he turned to glare at the girl. "Say that again!"
Mimi only shrugged a smug look on her face "I didn't know you were deaf. You want me to say that again?"
Naruto clenched his fist, wanting to hit this girl. "I don't care if you're a girl Mimi; I'm going to punch you!"
Mimi screamed as she covered her face.
Mitsu sighed, "Stop it" she said, going between the two students. "Mimi, everyone has certain time when they reach their goals. Naruto probably just has problems because he doesn't position himself right."
Naruto nodded, agreeing with her. "Yeah!"
Mimi only looked away, crossing her arms. "Whatever" she mumbled as she went back behind the crowd.
Mitsu smiled at the small blonde kid and then heard Sasuke sigh beside her. She looked at him confused but didn't bother to ask what bothered him. "Okay Naruto you show me how you throw it and I'll correct you."
Naruto nodded. "Okay!" He took out a shuriken from his shuriken holder and thrust it forward.
As expected, it missed the post.
Naruto sighed, looking embarrassed as he failed throwing the shuriken properly.
Some of the kids snickered quietly as they saw Naruto throwing the shuriken miserably.
Mitsu cross her arms, trying to figure where Naruto got wrong. "Oh!" she smiled. "Here lift your arm a little higher when you're throwing the shuriken and throw it with a quick spring motion" she said, demonstrating the correct way. "Got it?"
Before Naruto could reply, the bell rang meaning school was over.
The students left Mitsu, Naruto, and Sasuke in the dust.
"Come on Mitsu!" said Sasuke as he started running back to his house after he got his bag. "Come to my house today!"
"Sasuke, go back home" she said calmly. "I promise I'll go to your house." Which she really didn't want to. Oh well . . . she could at least see Itachi one more time. But he was acting a bit strange lately. Maybe it was only her imagination, but maybe not.
"I'll stay with you" protested Sasuke as he came back to Mitsu's side.
Mitsu chuckled and turn to look at Naruto again. "Did you get what I said?" she repeated her question.
"Yeah, I think so!" he replied with full of energy. He took out a shuriken and positioned himself the way Mitsu had demonstrated.
"A little bit higher."
Naruto nodded, lifting his arm a bit higher and then he thrusted the shuriken forward.
Clank! The shuriken hit the post directly in the middle.
Naruto blinked; surprised with himself that he actually got it right this time. "Yatta! Yatta!" he started jumping up and down and hugged Mitsu. "Mitsu-sensei, arigato!"
"Your welcome" she smiled and ruffled Naruto. "Well, I got to go!" And with that Sasuke started dragging her to his house.
----
"Uh . . . thanks . . . but have you seen Itachi?" asked Mitsu as she took the cupcake Sasuke had given her.
"Itachi-Oniichan?" Sasuke took a bite in his cupcake and swallowed it. "Well, he normally comes back late if he has some ANBU meeting."
Oh. I should've expect that from him thought Mitsu as she nodded.
"Mitsu-san, it's nice to have you back. I've been worried that you didn't like us anymore "said Mikoto, Sasuke's mother joking a bit.
Mitsu looked up at Mikoto. "No, I really like you guys. But . . . some things have been coming into mind lately" she replied with a sad smile. "My mom hasn't told you anything about it, right?" asked Mitsu hopefully.
Her mother and Mikoto were good friends, and her mother sometimes tells everything she knew.
"No, she only told you about how weird you've been acting lately. Is it some kind of boy that you're worrying about?"
Sasuke widened his eyes as he leaned in closer. "Who do you like Mitsu?" he asked curiously.
Mitsu blushed, "W-w-well, it is true that a boy is in my mind." Like forever "B-but-" she was interrupted as someone opened the door. Mitsu turned around to see who it was.
It was only Sasuke's father, Fugaku.
"Hello Fugaku-san" Mitsu bowed her head respectfully.
Fugaku gave Mitsu a small smile, but quickly frowned. "Hello, Mitsu."
"So . . . um . . . Fugaku-san, have you seen Itachi?" she asked Fugaku.
"Oh! I've seen him just a while ago. He probably just got off his meeting" he replied, his eyes showing a bit of anger. Probably something bad happened in his work. Mitsu didn't ask what happed to his work, that wasn't her problem anyway.
"Hey, you didn't answer my question!" Sasuke tugged on Mitsu's shirt, remembering her.
Oh right.
"Well, I thought you knew" she replied, a little confused. Wasn't it obvious that she liked Itachi? She sighed as she saw Sasuke's confused expression. "Don't laugh" she warned him giving him a light glare.
Sasuke nodded, "I promise!"
Mitsu sighed, "Okay I really, really, really like this boy. Well, maybe even love him. This boy I like is your brother Sasuke." Even if Sasuke told Itachi that she loved him, he already knew that.
Mitsu had confessed her love a year ago, but he didn't love her back.
Sasuke's eyes widened again, he was surprised. Obviously he hadn't expected Mitsu to love Itachi. "What?! Does Itachi know?" he asked her.
Mikoto was busy cleaning the dishes, "Oh, so your mystery boy is Itachi. I figured" she laughed lightly.
Mitsu only blushed. "Yeah, Itachi knows" she replied sadly, deciding she should answer Sasuke's answer.
"Does Itachi love you back?" asked Sasuke, getting curious every second.
Mitsu felt her whole face going hot again, "Sasuke-kun let's change the subject please" she said, ignoring the question. She stood up knowing that she would feel uncomfortable if she saw Itachi right now. She might just stare at him, if he came right now.
"Sorry, but I got to go" she quickly bowed and left the room.
"Wait, Mitsu-chan!" grabbed Sasuke as he followed her outside.
"Huh? What do you want Sasuke?" Mitsu asked, though predicted that Sasuke wanted her to stay a little longer.
"Can you just stay a bit longer?" he pleaded, giving her the sweetest smile he could make.
Mitsu had to smile at that. "I'm sorry, but I have to go" she lied, "I remembered that I have to help my mom with some of her work."
"But-" started Sasuke, not letting go of her arm.
"I-I promise that I'll come back tomorrow!" she promised. She just couldn't say that and not come to his house. Besides maybe if she came to Sasuke's house again, maybe she would have courage to speak with Itachi again.
Sasuke quietly let go of Mitsu's arm. "Promise?' he asked her.
"Promise" she repeated, looking down at the 8-year old Sasuke.
"Pinky promise!" he said, smiling.
"Pinky promise" she replied quietly as they did the pinky promise.
After she had waved goodbye to Sasuke, she left the Uchiha mansion in a hurry. Hoping she wouldn't see Itachi on the way.
But what do you know?
rest in result--->
There was Itachi, walking down the road.
She froze, the conversation she had a while ago came back into her mind.
"Okay I really, really, really like this boy. Well, maybe even love him. This boy I like is your brother Sasuke."
"What?! Does Itachi know?"
"Oh, so your mystery boy is Itachi. I figured"
"Yeah, Itachi knows."
"Does Itachi love you back?"
"Sasuke-kun, let's change the subject please!"
If Itachi had only loved her back, then she wouldn't have to be so uncomfortable around him, her heart beating so fast every time they past. Then maybe she wouldn't even had that conversation they had a while ago. She could still feel her face beat red.
"Itachi" she called him quietly, after Itachi was close enough to hear her.
Itachi glanced over at her. "What do you want?" he asked coldly, he didn't want Mitsu to bother him right now. He had some plans in his mind.
"I-" she paused, should she say it? Maybe not. She shook her head, "Oh never mind. So, you're going home?" she asked, trying to get a small talk out of him.
Itachi nodded, "Yeah."
"Oh . . . Um . . . Well, I was at your house a while ago!" she said, a smile forming on her face. "And I really love the cupcake your mom makes!"
Itachi nodded, showing that he didn't really care. "That's good. Well, got to go Mitsu" he said, brushing past her.
Mitsu's heart sank. At least, she should've asked him on a date.
"Itachi!" she called him one last time.
Itachi turned to look at her, "Yeah?"
"Uh . . . could you go out with me? As a date?" she asked him, though she didn't think Itachi would say 'yes'. Of course not. He was an ANBU, he was busy. He didn't have time to go out on a date.
Itachi showed no emotion, if he was surprised at that question he didn't show it. "I'm sorry, but I can't" he replied, he turned to walk back down the road heading back to his house.
Mitsu looked down, looking sad. Tears didn't fall, but her heart was broken.
Of course, she had forgotten the rules of the shinobi.
Never show any emotion.
I should never fell in love with Itachi. But I can't take my eyes off of him. she thought as she started walking back home.
Maybe . . . I'm just a stupid girl, thinking of fantasies that would never come true. I don't want that, then that would be a nightmare.
