{BACK IN KONOHA}
The two kunoichi sat on the couch in their temporary residence in Konoha; Keara, like a normal person, and Hotaru, upside down with her legs dangling over the back of the couch and her arms cushioning her head.
Keara was reading one of her favourite books, and Hotaru was, well... counting tiles on the roof.
46... 47... 4- hey wait!! Why is that tile yellow?? Most of the tiles are white! Hmmm.... <3 snoopy time!!!
Hotaru rolled off the couch and ran into the kitchen to grab a stool. Keara looked up from her book to watch as her friend placed the stool down and stretched to reach the yellow tile.
"Taru-chan, what are you doing??" she asked.
"Almost... there... got it!!"
Keara raised an eyebrow as her friend dropped the yellow tile gently to the floor and stood on her tiptoes, reaching her hand through the hole in the roof.
"Nee... whazzis??" Hotaru pulled her hand out of the roof, holding a book. Keara nearly dropped her book when she read the title on the side that Hotaru couldn't see.
O.O holy crap... Kakashi-san is a perv -_-
Keara twitched.
"O.o ewww... Kakashi-san is a closet pervert... nasty -_- Well, at least he knows how to hide things," Hotaru grumbled, reading the title. She reached back into the roof and pulled out another three books, then replaced the yellow tile exactly as it had been.
"What are you going to do with those?" Keara asked, slightly suspicious.
"Burn them," Hotaru replied bluntly as she walked by.
Normally Keara didn't approve of Hotaru's obsession with burning things, especially when they didn't belong to her, but this... was an exception.
"If anyone asks, I had no knowledge of this," Keara said as she continued to read her book.
"Yup," Hotaru smirked as she placed the books in the kitchen sink, and found a book of matches.
==Later that night==
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! MY BOOKS!!! NOoOoOoOOoooOOoooooo!!!!"
==The next day==
"Tsunade-sama, I hope you can find someone else willing to let these two live with them until their house is built,"
And with that, Kakashi was gone.
"... okay, so maybe that was a dumb idea...." Hotaru mumbled.
"You know, at this rate, every Jounin in the village is going to hate us -_- " Keara pointed out.
== Later (AGAIN!!! RAWR!!!)==
"You do know that smoking is going to kill you right??"
"You're going to have BLACK LUUUNGS!!! Naaaaastyyyyy,"
"That's unhealthy,"
"And unsanitary,"
"And most people find the smell very unattractive,"
"And it's gonna turn your teeth yellow,"
"AND-"
"AAAARGHH!!!"
...............
"Well, that didn't even last a day. Poor Asuma-san, I guess he couldn't handle us either," Keara sighed as the two girls found themselves, once again, in Tsunade's office, waiting for her to tell them the next place they would stay. Tsunade gave an exasperated sigh.
"I'm sorry to say that none of the other jounin are willing to let you stay with them. Apparently the stories about you two travel fast. I'll see if any of the genin have extra room, seeing as they are all about the same age as you both. Come back-"
"In an hour??" Keara cut Tsunade-sama off, an eyebrow raised. Tsunade chuckled.
"Well, we'll be back in an hour I guess," Hotaru shrugged as she and Keara left the office.
Wandering around the town, they were both startled by someone yelling their names from down the street. They turned around to see Naruto running up to them.
"Oh!! Hey Naruto-kun!" Hotaru grinned.
"Hey Hotaru-chan, Keara-chan!! I was wondering whether or not you guys would like a tour around the village??" Naruto grinned back in the same goofy way.
Hotaru could tell that she and Naruto were going to get along just fine.
But, then again, Hotaru got along with just about everybody!!
Just about.
"Sure, why not, we've got time to kill before we have to back to Tsunade-sama's office..." Keara shrugged.
"Cool!! Wait, why do you guys have to go to Tsunade baa-san's (grandma <3 lolz!!) office??" Naruto asked, cocking his head to the side.
"Well, our house still hasn't been finished yet, and for the past couple weeks we've been moved from house to house, because no one will let us stay at their house for more than a couple days, and Tsunade-sama is going to tell us where, and who, were going to be living with next. At least, until our house is done," Keara explained.
"Yeah... so far we've lived with 3 different Jounin: Gai-san, Kakashi-san, and Asuma-san. We didn't even get to stay at Asuma-san's house for a day before we got kicked out..." Hotaru sighed, and Naruto stared, wide-eyed.
"We don't approve of smoking," Keara shrugged. Naruto sweatdropped.
"Sooo... let's go!!" Hotaru grinned, breaking the awkward silence.
"RIGHT!!!" Naruto yelled, grabbing both of their wrists and dragging them along, pointing out what every building was, and introducing them to all the other ninja on the way.
Wow... Naruto-kun has as much energy as Taru-chan -_- This can't be a good thing...
==Later==
"Ssooooo, who are we gonna live with now??" Hotaru asked, breaking the long silence.
"Right. First off, here's a key to the house, seeing as your... roommate, probably won't be home right now. He's probably training, as usual," Tsunade said, tossing Keara a key.
"Wait, who is the dude we're living with??" Hotaru asked again.
"I was getting to that. His name is Uchiha Sasuke. Here are directions to the house," Tsunade handed Hotaru a map, "And please, be nice? I'm running out of places for you two to stay at,"
Keara and Hotaru nodded, and lifted their satchels of belongings over their backs and left.
==Later==
"Heeellooo?? Anybody hoooome??" Hotaru called out nervously as she peeked into the door as Keara walked through the open door.
"Tsunade said that he wasn't likely to be here, so why are you yelling??" Keara turned to see her suddenly timid friend.
"Because, it's rude to just walk into the dude's house without saying anything, especially when he's not even here!!"
Hotaru still refused to set foot in the house.
"Since when did being polite become a top priority for you?" Keara raised an eyebrow.
"Since... since... AUGH!! It just doesn't feel right, okay??" Hotaru glared. Keara rolled her eyes, but smiled.
"Don't worry,"
Hotaru gave Keara a sceptical look, but cautiously walked into the house.
"It's not going to eat you," Keara sighed, but Hotaru just stared at her.
"Gee, now I feel safe!!! I WASN'T EVEN THINKING ABOUT THAT BEFORE!! Thanks a lot!" she stood in the middle of the room, and looked frantically around the room. She nearly jumped out of her skin when the door opened to reveal a familiar looking boy.
Oh right!! He's the boy who chased after Itachi... Keara thought, an imaginary light bulb going off above her head.
Keara turned and bowed politely.
"... Who the hell are you two?" the boy asked rudely.
"Oh! Excuse us for not introducing ourselves. My name is Junko Keara, and this is Shiraki Hotaru, and Tsunade-sama told us that we were to live with you until our house is built. I assume she informed you of this?" Keara answered, glancing slightly at Hotaru who was hiding behind her nervously. The boy looked thoughtful for a minute, but nodded.
"My name is Uchiha Sasuke. I'll show you your room. C'mon," Sasuke turned, and the two kunoichis followed silently. Hotaru looked around, relieved that the introduction was over.
I'm so bad at the whole 'meeting new people' thing...
She sighed quietly, then perked up.
Hey!! Now I remember why Sasuke-san looks so familiar!! Except last time I saw him , I had a concussion ^^'
They finally reached a room with a sliding door.
"This is where you'll sleep. Bathroom is down the hall, kitchen down back there," Sasuke said, pointing. Keara nodded.
"Arigatou Uchiha-san," she bowed again, revealing Hotaru who was still hiding slightly behind her. Hotaru blinked, then bowed when Keara stomped on her foot. Sasuke grunted and walked away.
"That hurt you know..." Hotaru mumbled, rubbing her foot. Keara rolled her eyes again.
"Come on, let's unpack," she grabbed Hotaru's wrist and opened the sliding door, pulling her inside.
==One Week Later==
"IT'S ALMOST CHRIMAS!!!" Hotaru cheered, unable to hold in her happiness at the coming holiday.
"Chrimas?" Naruto stared at her.
"She means Christmas," Keara explained, and Naruto nodded, going to back to his ramen noodles. Hotaru continued to spin around on the stool, chanting 'It's almost Chrimas!!'.
"So what are you guys doing for Christmas?" Sakura asked, looking like she more asking Sasuke than anyone.
Keara and Hotaru were eating with Team 7, resting after running errands for Tsunade-sama.
"Mmmmm.... dunno," Keara shrugged.
"WE GOTTA BAKE COOKIES AND AND AND HAVE A TREE AND EVERYTHING!!!!" Hotaru yelled, eyes sparkling with delight. Keara shook her head, smiling.
Hotaru absolutely adored Christmas.
And her spirit was infectious.
