Thank you so much you guys, for getting this on both the highest rated and the most popular lists. It means so much to me. ^_____^
Merry Christmas!
Kankuro "Mistletoe"
The desert evening was cool and quiet. It was hard to think it was so close to Christmas time.
Thinking of the holidays back home made you think of snow and evergreen trees. There were neither of those in the sandy desert. It was sort of a letdown. Dont get me wrong, you really did love living in Suna, but there were times when you missed your home.
You had come there to train and learn, and you had done a lot of both in the almost-year you had been living there. During that time, you had made friends, especially the Kazekage and his siblings. You had met them back in Konoha a while back and had always been somewhat interested in them. Now you had gotten to know them all a lot better, and you realized there was one of the two brothers that you were very fond of.
"What's wrong?" You leaned back on the heels of your hands and looked back toward the all-too-familiar voice.
"Why would you think something's wrong, Kankuro?" you asked, giving your favorite puppet master a light smile.
He sat down on the rooftop next to you. "You've been out of it all week." He gave you a curious look and a slight smile. "Are you homesick?"
You managed a slight, embarrassed smile. "A little. It's just...its getting really close to the holidays, and I was thinking about what its like back home."
"And hows that?" he asked, laying back against the roof.
"Well, there's snow and lights and evergreen trees and parties and mistletoe..." you trailed off.
"Mistletoe?" Kankuro asked, giving you a curious look.
You laughed a little. "Yeah..." He just continued to give you that amused, curious look. "It's an old tradition on the Christmas holiday that a couple kisses under mistletoe," you said.
He laughed loudly, and you twisted around to frown at him, but couldn't keep from pouting a little. It was true, you'd been daydreaming a little lately about what it would be like to be with him under the mistletoe, so his laughing bugged you a little. If he noticed your scathing look, he didn't show it.
"What is so funny?" you muttered, frowning.
"I think its funny the excuses people come up with," he snickered, sitting up to fix you with a smirk.
"Excuses for?" you asked, a suddenly nervous feeling nagging at your stomach.
"For kissing a pretty girl," Kankuro smirked, leaning closer to you.
You blinked, startled, and reflexively leaned away from him, a blush spreading across your cheeks.
You leaned a little too far, though, and nearly fell off the roof. Kankuro grabbed your arm and pulled you back, his other arm snaking around your waist. You blushed a little more, looking up at him and smiling sheepishly. He gave you an amused smile and shook his head a little.
Before you could pull away, or even thank him, he leaned a little closer, pressing his lips lightly against yours. You froze for a moment, then let yourself relax and pressed back. He rubbed a hand gently over your back and ran his tongue lightly across your bottom lip. You parted your lips and let his tongue sweep in to caress your own.
He pulled back to catch his breath and smiled down at you. "Maybe theres something to this Christmas stuff after all."
"Why's that?" you asked.
"Because I've already got my wish, he replied," smirking.
You just shook your head a little and cuddled against him, least you fall off the roof again right?
Kakashi "Shopping"
If there was one thing you did not like about the holidays, it was shopping. Especially when there were so many other people around, running around, shopping, working. It made it hard to get anything done. Add to that the fact that it was really hard to find a good present for one specific person on your list, and you certainly didn't like shopping.
Yet that was where you found yourself then, trying to find a present amid the mad dash, for your friend and crush, Kakashi. He was not an easy person to shop for, and that alone stressed you out. It was the day before Christmas and you still hadn't gotten anything for him yet.
Sighing you glanced around at the books on the shelf in front of you. You didn't really know what he liked to read, and it was too risky to try to guess which book he didn't have yet. So you just left the books alone. As you continue on your shopping trip, you were beginning to feel that this was hopeless. Turning a corner, you bumped into something that felt sort of familiar.
"Oh, I'm sorry," you said quickly, looking up to see who you had hit. Kakashi!
"Hello," he said calmly.
"What are you doing out today?" you asked, straightening and trying to sound casual.
"Just some last minute shopping," he responded. You smiled and suggested that maybe you two could shop together. Perhaps if you watched him closely enough you'd figure out something he'd like. As the two of you continued shopping, you had little luck with that. You did enjoy yourself, though, you liked being around Kakashi, which was probably why getting him a good present meant so much to you.
Finally it got late enough that the stores were closing and Kakashi asked you if you'd like to go to get something to eat with him. As you were sitting there, talking after you ate, he asked you who you had been shopping for. Blushing, you looked down at the table and admitted that you were trying to shop for this guy that you really liked, but you weren't sure what to get for him.
Kakashi looked down for a long moment. "Maybe this guy would just be happy to know how you feel about him?" he offered.
You thought about it for a long moment, wondering. Maybe that would be the best present you could give, letting him know how you felt. You looked up at him and smiled.
"Thanks, Kakashi, you really helped." He gave you a light, almost sad smiling look. You continued to grin as you stood up from your chair and leaned closer to him. You kissed his cloth-covered cheek, blushing a little.
"Merry Christmas, Kakashi," you whispered in his ear before straightening to leave.
Kakashi blinked at you for a moment, before reaching out and pulling you down beside him, slipping an arm loosely around your waist. "Merry Christmas, ______."
Iruka "Vacation"
There was one thing that the holiday season meant for certain no classes! And, as a teacher at the academy, you were looking forward to the time off. As you happily contemplated what you would do with your time off, you began out of the academy for the last time until classes started again. As you did, you passed a room that still had someone in it. You stopped and pushed the door open a little more to glance in.
"Iruka-san, what are you still doing in here?" you asked him. He was standing near the windows, looking out at the snowy evening.
"Huh? Oh, hi, ______-chan," he smiled turning. "I was just on my way out." He walked over to the desk and grabbed some things off it. You leaned against the door, watching him with a small smile.
"So, do you have any plans for the vacation?" you asked him.
"Not really," Iruka replied. You nodded a little, thinking.
You offered to walk out with him, and the two of you talked happily about pretty much anything from your students to the holidays. Iruka was a good guy, and you had liked him for a while. His devotion to his students was really cute to you. You also thought it was cute how shy he could be.
"So," you said, stopping in the doorway of the academy.
"So," he replied, smiling shyly.
You glanced up, on a whim, and smiled suddenly. Iruka gave you a confused look, but glanced up also. He blinked for a long moment at the mistletoe that was hanging in the doorway. You giggled a little as he looked back at you, seeming completely confused and startled. Still smiling, you leaned up and pressed your lips gently to his.
When you pulled away, Iruka was blushing.
"So," you said, smiling a little shyly. "Would you like some?" He gave you the most confused look. "Plans for the break, that is," you corrected quickly.
Iruka smiled slightly. "Yeah, I think I would," he said, still blushing a little.
You laughed, and headed out into the snowy evening. Looks like this vacation was going to be better than you had thought.
Sasuke "Stargazing"
It was really quiet, and a little cold. But that was how you liked it. You were sitting, wrapped tightly in a warm coat, on the roof of the academy, watching the clear sky overhead. Something about the crisp weather made it seem as if the sky was clearer than normal, and the stars shone brightly. You really liked it there.
Something moved on the street below you and you glanced down to see none other than Uchiha Sasuke standing there, looking up at you. He stood there, completely impassive, with his hands tucked into the pocket of his coat. You blinked at him for a moment, then turned back to watching the stars. You figured he would have left, but you realized you were wrong when you felt a presence step onto the roof next to you. You glanced over at the raven-haired guy as he sat down beside you.
"Why aren't you at the party Sakura was going on about?" you asked him.
"Why aren't you?" he countered.
"Noisy parties aren't really my thing," you said. He snorted slightly. "Not yours either, I take it," you muttered.
Sasuke didn't reply for a long time. "There was only one person worth going for, and she wasn't even there, so I left," he said finally.
"Oh?" You glanced over at him, mostly disinterested, as you laid back against the roof.
"Yeah, I found her sitting on a roof stargazing in the cold," he muttered.
You blinked, turning to him, more than a little startled. You laughed lightly. "Oh, really?" you asked. He frowned at you a little, which only made you laugh more. He was practically glaring at you by that point.
Sasuke was suddenly leaning over you, one arm on the other side of your body. You, startled, promptly stopped laughing. "Good," he smirked, then, quickly, pressed his lips to yours. You pressed back immediately, kissing him as hard as he kissed you. You wrapped your arms around his neck, one hand tangling in his hair.
He pulled away from you, still smirking. You blushed, running your hands gently over his shoulders.
"Well, I guess I'm glad that you decided to leave the party," you said, smiling a little.
Sasuke just smirked.
Shino "Midnight"
There was something sort of magical about nights when snow laid like a blanket over the world and everything was quiet and still. It was nights like those that you truly liked, when you could just sit and think and enjoy the company of friends. You were sitting on the wall that encircled the complex your family lived in. It was really late and there was no one around. You weren't exactly the most festive of people and were fine to be sitting away from the excitement of the season.
You heard someone come over and glanced over at the sound. You recognized Shino even in the dark. The two of you had always gotten along fairly well. He was very quiet, but that didn't bother you too much. You smiled at him. "Hello."
"Hello," he replied, giving you a curious look. "What are you doing out here?"
"Just relaxing. And you?" you asked, sitting up a little as he came over to stand beside the wall you were on.
"The same," he said, and you had the feeling that he was smiling. You smiled over at him, and then frowned curiously.
"Hey, Shino? How in the world can you see with your glasses on?" you asked curiously. He glanced at you. You laughed at his blank expression. He shook his head a little and reached up to pull them off. You blinked and did a double take. He had really pretty eyes. You smiled. Quickly, you brushed snow off the wall and motioned for him to sit beside you. To your surprise, he did. For a long moment, you two sat in silence.
You leaned a little closer to him. "You know, Shino...I'm really glad I met you."
He blinked and glanced at you. "I'm glad I met you, too, ______-chan."
You smiled and leaned against him. To your surprise, he wrapped an arm around your waist, keeping you from falling off the wall, and holding you against him. You couldn't help but smile more and rested your head against his shoulder.
"Merry Christmas, Shino-kun," you smiled.
He smiled gently beneath the collar of his coat. "Merry Christmas, ______-chan."
Naruto "Party"
You were all excited about the party Sakura was throwing. Some time to have fun and kick back was going to be great. You were all excited about it. As you made your way to Sakura's house, you were half dancing down the street.
The party was all you had hoped it would be. There was music and snacks and people and fun. For a few minutes you just kind of hung out, munching snacks and talking to people. After that, you spent some time dancing with Sakura and Ino and a few of the other girls, and a few of the guys even. You laughed, dancing with Kiba before you decided to take a break.
You noticed Naruto standing near the snack table. You walked over and smiled at him. You'd always had a soft spot for the blonde, and you thought he was a lot stronger than anyone would have ever expected.
"Hey, Naruto," you smiled. He grinned back at you. "Are you having fun?" you asked.
"Heck yeah!" he grinned. You laughed.
You were reaching over for a snack to munch on when you heard Sakura call your name. Glancing over, you saw her grinning at you. She pointed up and, confused, you looked up too. You groaned. Naruto glanced at you confused, before looking up too.
"Okay, who's dumb idea was it to put mistletoe up there?" you demanded. Sakura and Ino were both laughing. You groaned again, and glanced at Naruto who was still standing next to you. You gave him a light smile and leaned forward, pressing your lips lightly to his. To your eternal surprise, he kissed you back quite warmly.
You pulled back and grinned at him. He was blushing slightly. You laughed a little at his look and grabbed his hand, and tugged him toward the other room where the music was playing.
"C'mon, Naruto, lets dance!" you grinned.
Sasori "Cookies"
It was just about time for him to come around again, you figured, as you glanced out the window at the
gently drifting snow. You saw him once every few months when he would come through the village for reasons that were entirely his own. He never told you where he was from, or why he came around. Heck, it had taken you almost two years to get his name out of him! But you had eventually, which was really your only sign that he was warming up to you. If you'd learned anything about him it was to expect the unexpected.
You ran an art studio/gallery, but the shop was closed that day, both due to the falling snow and because of a new project you were currently undertaking. There was quite a few people you needed to get presents for to celebrate the holiday, but you had been running low on funds lately, since your landlord had upped your rent. So, instead of buying presents, you decided to make them from some old recipes your mother had used when you were a child. You just hoped he, especially, would like it.
You shook your head and went back to work. There was a batch of sugar cookies cooling on the counter nearby, and you were currently balling out small portions of a chocolate cookie dough that you had loved as a child. Another batch of the chocolate cookies was already sitting on a plate on the table. As you rolled the balled dough in a cup of powdered sugar, you heard the door of the adjoining shop open. You had left it unlocked just in case it was him.
"Hello, back here," you called.
Somehow you weren't surprised when the redhead you often thought about poked his head into the kitchen.
"What in the world are you doing?"
"Hello to you too, Sasori," you smiled, dropping another dough-ball onto a tray.
"Hello. What are you doing?" he repeated again.
"Baking. Do you want a cookie?" you smiled. He watched you guardedly for a moment, before glancing at the plate of chocolate cookies sitting on the table. Slowly he walked over to it and picked one up, before going back to leaning in the doorway. Watching as you continued to work, he took a bite out of the treat, a slightly surprised look entering his brown-red eyes.
"Do you like it?" you asked, smiling.
"...yes." Figuring that was probably the best response you could have gotten out of the quiet redhead, you grinned broadly. The oven beeped, and you hurried over to take out yet another tray of cookies before they burned. While you were occupied, Sasori had stepped over to the bowl of chocolate dough you had been working with, pulling out a small piece and eating it.
"Hey," you said, turning around in time to see him. "You're not supposed to eat the dough before its baked."
"Why, it tastes just as good," he responded, eating another piece, as if to spite you. You walked back over and swatted his hand away lightly and continued working. You were rolling the dough, so there was some of the chocolate on your hands. Sasori suddenly grabbed your wrist and raised your hand, a slight smirk playing across his face. Before you could react he sucked on your finger, licking off the chocolate.
Your eyes widened as you flushed darkly. "Uh, Sasori?"
He smirked, his eyes meeting yours. "Tastes just as good," he repeated smugly. "Maybe better."
All you could do was blush as he raised his head and pressed his lips warmly to yours. His other hand snaked around your waist to pull you closer to him. You closed your eyes and kissed him back passionately, until the beeping of the oven forced you to pull back. You looked up into his eyes and smiled.
"I need to bake more often," you whispered. He just smirked and kissed you again, ignoring the ovens incessant beeping.
Deidara "Tree"
You sighed deeply and stashed away the wrapping paper for the presents youd just finished. You rubbed your eyes and yawned, glancing over at the clock on the table nearby. It was almost midnight. No wonder you were tired. Pushing the presents over to the tree in the corner, your eyes fell on one specific one, wrapped in pretty silvery paper. Looking at it, you wondered if he would like it.
"Why are you still up, un?"
You jumped and twisted around to look at the blonde man standing in the doorway behind you. "Deidara!"
He shook his head, his long blonde hair swinging about his shoulders. "That's what you get for waiting to wrap presents until the last minute, yeah."
"Yeah, well, it kept people from snooping," you mutter, turning around to frown at the presents.
The clock suddenly chimed twelve and you smiled, despite your sulking. "Merry Christmas," you muttered.
There was a small 'click' and the tree you sat in front of lit up suddenly. You heard Deidara come to sit beside and a little behind you. He wrapped his arms around you warmly. "Merry Christmas, un," he said softly, pulling you back against him. You gave him a teasing frown, but settled against his chest.
You sat there for several long minutes, looking at the glow of the tree. You found yourself looking down at the little silver present glimmering in the lights. That could wait for later, right then, you were comfortable just sitting there.
Deidara rubbed your arm gently with one hand. You smiled a little and looked up at him, shifting to press your lips against his. He smirked a little and kissed back. You twisted around to face him, wrapping your arms around his neck.
He smirked a little and lightly nipped at your bottom lip. You let him slip his tongue in and explore. His hands rubbed gently at your back before slipping under your shirt, licking and nipping at your sides. You smiled a little into the kiss.
You finally pulled back and smiled at him, shaking your head slightly. Resting your head against his chest, you looked back to the tree, letting your arms settle around his waist. Deidara wrapped his arms loosely around your back .
"I'm tired," you muttered quietly.
"Then go to sleep," he answered matter-of-factly. You frowned a little up at him, but just settled against him once more, falling asleep in the light of the Christmas tree.
Itachi "Cold"
You blinked, frowning a little out at the white fluffs of snow that drifted past the window. Growling in spite of yourself, you wrapped your arms around yourself. Another growl slipped past your lips, earning a look from the black-haired man sitting behind you. The look was more blank than anything, but you were knew it was probably curious. You turned around and frowned at him.
Its cold, you muttered, as you shivered suddenly.
He gave you a mild look, as if to say. Thats your problem? You just frowned at him, before looking back out the window. Itachi came over to you, looking out over your shoulder. He frowned a little at you and turned, walking over to sit on the floor on the other side of the room.
You turned a little and glanced back at him. What? No holiday spirit? you muttered.
He gave you a blank look. You smiled brightly at him, simply because you knew it would annoy him.
Sitting down in front of the window, you continued watching the snow. As much as you hated the cold, you liked the look of it. Another shiver crawled up your back. A moment later, you jumped when a black and red coat was dropped over your shoulders. You blinked up at Itachi, who was standing behind you.
Um, thank you, you muttered, tugging the cloak closer around you. But, uh, arent you going to be cold now?
He smirked a little and went back to sitting down on the floor a little further away from you. You hesitated a moment, looking at him, then looking out the window, and back. It was cold in the room, and it wasnt fair to let him just sit there in a sleeveless shirt. Or at least, thats what you told yourself. Resolutely, you stood up and walked over to where he was sitting, and dropped down beside him. Itachi spared you a glance as you wrapped the cloak around him too, leaning close in the process. After a moment, he closed his eyes, a slight smirk on his lips, as he put an arm around your waist.
You smiled softly and shifted closer to him. On a whim, you glanced over at him and, after a deep breath, pressed your lips gently against his. You expected him to push you away or pull back. What you didnt expect was for him to kiss you back, which is exactly what he did. He kissed you roughly, pulling you closer to him, as his hands settled lightly around your waist.
You pulled back, blushing a little, and smiled at him. Maybe you do have some holiday spirit, you smirked.
Itachi frowned at you, halfheartedly. Quiet.
You laughed and rested your head against his shoulder.
Gaara "Snow flake"
You whistled happily, swinging your scarf as you smiled. You were walking back toward the apartment you and some of your friends from Suna were renting. Yes, you were friends with the Kazekage and his siblings, though you had originally lived in a small village quite a ways away. You had told Gaara and Temari about the holidays in your village and they had been interested. They'd never seen snow before. So you arraigned to spend the holidays back home with your friends. You had figured that Gaara could use the vacation anyway.
You came up to the apartment, still smiling, and found Gaara standing outside. "Whats wrong?" you asked, blinking at him.
He turned his green eyes away from the snowy landscape. "No", he replied at length.
You stood beside him and looked out at him for a moment, then at the snow, and then at him again. A grin spread across your face. You grabbed Gaaras arm and tugged gently. He just blinked at you. "Come on," you smiled, pulling him away from the safety of the apartments porch and out into the snow.
Pulling a pair of gloves out of your pocket and tugged them on before dropping to the ground to start forming a snowball. Gaara just looked down at you for a moment. You smiled and continued to make a snowman. Finishing one of the snowballs, you began working on another as Gaara just continued to watch.
Setting the second little snowball on top of the others, you looked down at the snow clinging to your gloves and stood up. "Hey, Gaara, look," you said, holding out your hands to him. He looked down at the snowflakes that dotted the fabric. "Each snowflake is different, but theyre all pretty, ne?"
He took your hand in one of his and looked down at the flakes, a small almost-smile on his face. He looked back at you, the same gentle look on his face. You smiled.
"I'm really glad you came here with me, Gaara," you said softly.
"I am too, ______-chan," he said just as quietly.
Still smiling, you leaned up and pressed your lips gently against his. He held both your hands, squeezing them gently as he kissed you back. You smiled, truly happy.
Until something hit yours - and Gaara's - arm. You broke the kiss and blinked at the snow that was clinging to your sleeve as what had happened slowly sunk in. You and Gaara glanced at each other, then, together, looked over toward the porch where Kankuro and Temari were standing. Kankuro was grinning, holding another snowball in his hands.
You exchanged a look with Gaara again, before diving to grab some snow as an all out snowball war started. And poor Gaara wasn't entirely sure what to do as you and his siblings attacked each other. He managed to get off to the side and just watched, smiling.
Until, that is, a stray snowball hit him on the side of the head.
Kabuto "Music"
"Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright..." you sang quietly to yourself as you finished decorating your room. You continued singing until a chuckle from the door stopped you. You spun around to find your silver haired friend standing in the doorway.
"Kabuto!" you gasped. "Um, how long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough," he smirked. You pouted and turned back to attempting to hang a garland above your bed. Unfortunately, you very nearly fell off the bed. A hand pressed against your back, helping to keep you balance. You smiled at him over your shoulder in thanks.
You pinned up the garland and turned, bouncing down on the bed. Kabuto gave you a slight smirk and sat down next to you. "So," he started, still smirking. "I don't think I've ever heard you sing before."
"Don't get used to it," you replied quickly. He laughed.
"Why not?" he whispered, leaning closer to you. "I kind of liked it." You threw him a dark look. He snaked an arm around your waist and pulled you closer to him. "Will you sing again, please?"
"What will you give me if I do?" you asked, trying to hide the fact that you were blushing.
He chuckled softly, very close to your ear. "Maybe its a secret." You blushed darkly and managed to sing a few lines of the first Christmas song that popped into your head, before frowning.
"Alright, there, happy?" you muttered.
"Very," he smirked. You were about to ask him what he was going to give you for singing. You didn't get the chance, though, because before you could, he pressed his lips tightly to yours. You froze for a long moment, then began to kiss him back, slipping your arms around his neck. He ran his hand down your back lightly, causing you to shiver. You placed your hand against his jaw.
He licked your bottom lip gently, and you parted your lips to let him slip his tongue in. You let out a soft moan and rubbed your tongue against his. After a long moment, you pulled away and looked up at him, breathing a little hard. He smirked at you.
"Was that good enough?" he asked, still smirking.
"Cocky," you cut off the rest of the sentence quickly, still blushing. Kabuto laughed and leaned closer to press his cheek against yours.
"Now now, be nice," he teased.
You pulled back, and fixed him with a teasing frown. "Why don't you be nice and help me finish these decorations, then?" He just laughed.
Neji "Lights"
Leaning against one hand, you turned a slight frown on the dark-haired teen standing nearby. He seemed completely uncaring about what was going on. You frowned a little and tucked your scarf closer about your neck.
"Neji, if you're not even going to pretend to be enjoying yourself, why did you come?" you asked, frowning.
He glanced over at you, and smirked faintly. "Someone had to make sure you didn't hurt yourself."
"Oh thank you ever so much. I only wanted to see the lights at the park," you muttered, frowning.
Every holiday season, the park in your town put up a display of lights, and you had always liked to go look at them. For some reason, Neji had decided that someone need to accompany you. So, now you found yourself walking in the cold dark down to the park to see the lights, with a very silent companion. It wasn't like you needed anyone to help you, since you could take care of yourself just fine. Annoyed that Neji didn't trust you, you continued on your way.
As soon as you turned the corner and saw the glowing lights strung around the trees, you forgot to be annoyed with him. You smiled brightly and hurried the little way to the park. Neji sighed a little behind you and followed.
You couldn't help but grin as you wandered through the park, the rainbow lights reflecting on the snow and lighting your face. Neji walked beside you, looking sometimes at the lights, and sometimes at you. "You cant tell me you don't think this is at least a little cool," you muttered to him. He smirked at you but didn't reply.
You stopped and sat down on a bench, looking out at the lights. Neji sat down beside you and you smiled at him. It was cold and you shivered a little, only to jump when he wrapped his arm around your shoulders.
"I have a confession, _____-chan," he said, a faint smirk on his face. "I didn't come with you tonight just because I thought I needed to look after you." You gave him a questioning look, cuddling closer because of the cold. "I came because I wanted to be alone with you."
You blinked, a little surprised. Any comment you were going to make was cut off (probably for the best, since you were a little tongue-tied) when Neji leaned forward and pressed his lips against yours. You leaned against him a little more, kissing back. He gently cupped your cheek with one hand, stroking it lightly with his thumb. You broke the kiss after a few moments and looked up him, noticing the way the Christmas lights colored his hair and face.
You grinned and rested your head against his shoulder. "I love the holidays," you smiled. He just gave a soft, amused snort, and said nothing.
Kiba "Present"
What in the world were you going to get for him? It was a week before Christmas, and you still had not gotten him a present. It wasn't your fault that he was ridiculously hard to buy for. And it certainly wasn't you fault that he wouldn't tell anyone what he wanted. That led to your current dilemma of wandering around town, trying to figure out what to buy for him. What in the world would he want.
You stopped at several stores, trying to figure out what to get for him, but none of the options seemed very promising. A kunai or weapon just seemed sort of, well, common, but you really had no other ideas. You sighed and shook your head, heading back toward your house.
So this went on for several more days until it was only two days before Christmas and you still had no present for Kiba. You decided to give up on buying something, and settled for making it. Digging out some old recipes your mother had used when you were a kid, you set about baking.
When Christmas finally came, Kiba came over, just like you had asked him to. "Hey," you said, almost shyly, showing him in. "Um, I wasn't sure what to get you so, uh, merry Christmas," you said quickly, holding out the box stuffed with cookies. He blinked at it for a moment, then took it, smiling.
He opened the box and blinked some more."Thanks ______-chan, they look great. Did you bake these?" he asked, smiling. You smiled and nodded shyly. "Thanks. Here, this is for you." He pulled a small box from his pocket and handed it to you.
You looked at the box for a long moment, before opening it. Inside was a necklace that you had been eyeing for a long time. It was a small black shuriken hanging from a black chain. Your eyes went wide when you saw it there and you smiled. "Kiba, thank you!" you grinned.
He took it out of the box and carefully clasped it around your neck. "I'm glad you like it," he said, smiling warmly. You grinned up at him.
Kiba was still looking at you with a light, gentle expression. You blushed a little and glanced down a little. He placed a hand gently under your chin and tilted your head up. He smirked a little and pressed his lips against yours. You froze for a second, then kissed back just as warmly. Kiba wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him. You placed your hands lightly on his shoulders and leaned against him. He licked your bottom lip and slipped his tongue into your mouth, exploring sensually.
You sighed softly and pulled back, looking up at him. He was grinning broadly. You shook your head a little, blushing lightly. "I'm glad you like your present, _____-chan," he grinned.
"Yeah," you muttered. "I do."
Shikamaru "Christmas Eve"
It was snowing. Hard. And you found yourself sitting in the living room of your little apartment, looking out at the drifting powder. Your friend, and crush, Shikamaru was sitting beside you. He had come over to help you prepare for a mission you were to have in a few days, and had ended up trapped by the snow.
"Man," you muttered. "Trapped on Christmas eve..."
"What a drag, but I guess it could be worse," Shikamaru said, laying back against the couch and closing his eyes. You glanced over at him, leaning back against the couch he was sitting on.
There was a sudden flicker and the lights went completely out. "Uh, Shikamaru...I think it just got worse..." you muttered.
He blinked and sat up in the darkness. "What a drag."
You had been rushing around, grabbing candles from a drawer in the kitchen and matches to light them with. Checking the thermostat, you saw that the heat was also out. You set the candles down and lit them on few tables, before disappearing into your room to grab some blankets you would need.
Shikamaru was still sitting on the couch when you came back. The house was getting colder very quickly so you sat down on the couch beside Shikamaru and spread out the blankets. "I'm sorry about this, Shikamaru," you said.
He shrugged a little and shifted closer to you, wrapping the blankets around you both. "Its probably better I'm here with you anyway," he muttered, slipping an arm around your waist and pulling you closer to him.
You blushed a little and cuddled closer to him. "I'm glad you're here, Shikamaru, thank you," you muttered. He didn't reply, and you wondered if he had fallen asleep so fast. You got your answer when he gently rubbed your arm and shifted so that he could look at you. You blinked up at him. The candle-light gave the room a strange, fantasy like look, but this was real, you were sure of it. Shikamaru smiled a little, brushing a thumb over your cheek.
"I thought girls were troublesome," you muttered at his smile.
"Theres a girl who's worth the trouble," he replied softly. He pressed his lips gently against yours You kissed back, wrapping your arms around his neck. He gently stroked your cheek before pulling back from you and looked down at you.
You blushed and smiled up at him, before cuddling against his chest. After a while, you fell asleep in his arms, waiting for the power to come back on.
