"I'm so sorry for yelling at you Kat."
His raspy voice muttered soothingly in my ear. I nodded, white knuckles clutching the steering as I wove through traffic. Narrowly avoiding other cars the best I could in Matts huge SUV. He whispered something else and I slammed down on the breaks. Thankfully just as the light turned red.
"I love you too Matt.." A smile stung my cheeks. Grinning so badly that tears threatened my eyes. He laughed.
"Good..I thought you were giving up on me for a minute there baby." He muttered. I looked both ways before pressing my foot to the gas and making a turn.
"I'm turning back.. Tell all those lazy bums to get the hell out my house and come outside." I whispered, and heard him shift uncomfortably.
"You're coming to the studio with us?" My heart stopped at the sound of his voice.
"I was planning to.. I don't have -" Ruffling pounded my ears so loud that I had to move the phone back. I heard Matt groan and soon enough something came crashing to the ground.
"YOURE COMING." I knew that voice from anywhere. Brit, Zacky Vee's girlfriend, hollered into the phone. Obviously she had to wrestle it away from Matt.
"She said she didn't want to!" Matt argued. My eyebrows knitted together. I didnt say that. I was outside, glancing into my home.
"I'll stay.." I whispered and slammed the phone shut. Flicking off the engine. I sighed, closing my eyes and leaning my head against the steering wheel. What the hell? Doors opened and closed. I looked over to see large brown eyes. I smiled lightly at Brian. Or Synyster Gates. His eyes trailed over my face for a moment before he reached over and patted my back. Beside us, yelling could be heard.
"Brit, shut the fuck up. No one asked for your opinion." Matt glared. Staring down the small girl.
"FUCK YOU MATT. Don't talk to me like that!" She jabbed him hardly in the ribs.
"Yeah man, don't talk to her like that!"
"Keep out of this Zackarey!!" They both turned their angered faces to him. He cowered away but wrapped his hand around Brits wrist, tugging her firmly.
"Fine, but leave it alone Brit. She has to fight her own battles!" He glared at Matt and shook his head disappointedly.
"WHAT BATTLES? I was DRUNK!" Brit had began to walk away, but at a split second, she wheeled around and punched Matt. Right in the jaw. Luckily she was so small compared to him, her fist didn't hit him as hard as it could have. Brian was out the car in seconds, he looked at me before he closed the door. I waved my hand and replaced my head back on the steering wheel. I wanted to hear no more. Tears already began to run down my cheeks. Cotton blocked my ears and the hollering was soon drowned out by low humming.
The car became heavy. Heavier than my heart, if that was possible. Voices met my ears and someone shook my shoulders. I stopped crying long ago. They argued outside for atleast thirty minutes. It took them ten to calm down and 5 to arrange how they would sit. I'm guessing that I had to drive.
I refused to move.
. . .
The rest of the car ride to the studio was silent. Other than someone's occasional sidekick beeping. No one said anything. I don't think anyone even dared to breathe louder than the low volume of the radio. The breaks creeked slightly as I pressed down on them, stopping at the light. I leant back in my seat and glanced into the mirror. Matt was looking down at his hands. Brit was glaring out a window. Lyndsey, Brian's girlfriend, was nestled into his chest with her eyes closed, Brian had his closed too. Johnny was texting someone and Jimmy was looking at me looking at everyone else. I sighed and looked back to the street.
"You know what Kate?" He whispered. Everyones eyes snapped to him. He'd broken the silence.
"What Jimmy-pop?" I asked and smiled at him. Reaching over to pinch his cheek. I saw Matt glare at the show of affection out the corner of my eye.
"I think, I love you." He snorted. I did too. I shook my head and focused back on the road.
"You're such a dork Jim." I mumbled and he stuck his tongue out at me. Everyone was smiling at his cuteness, everyone except Matt. Who I noticed, was wear a turtle neck. I remember hearing Brit scream at him while they were outside.
"Hide your shame you bastard!"
That explained why every time he tugs at the material flashes of red bruised skin could be seen. He saw me looking at his neck, and sighed. Slowly looking away. Blind ears and eyes rushed over me.
"I love you Matt." I said suddenly as we came to another stop. Shocked, he looked up at me. He wasn't the only one. Brit, Zack, Johnny, Lyndsey , and Jimmy all turned to stare in disbelief. But I didn't see them. All I saw was Matt. Matt and his big eyes and his adorable smile. And even more, I saw love somewhere behind the muscles and the tattoos. Brit scoffed and shook her head.
"I love you too Kat. I do."
So does she, he told her that too.
