This is the story of 3 friends: Grace, Hope, and Faith. Grace is going to be a sophomore in college, working toward her degree in vocal music education. She works part-time at Starbucks. Her relationship status? She's never had a
boyfriend, but she's been asked out a couple times. She doesn't worry about it though, she wants to focus on her schoolwork, as she always has. Hope is going to be a junior in high school. She's a straight-A student, and a drum major in the band. She works part-time at her church's nursery, she wants to become a neo-natal nurse. Her relationship status? She currently has her eyes on a boy
named Tim, but doesn't worry about it at the moment. She likes the single life. Faith is going to be a freshman in high school. She, too, is a straight-A student, and plays in the Pit in the band. She also plays violin in the
orchestra. She doesn't work, unless you count the chores that she has to do at home. Her relationship status? She thinks all boys in her class are immature jerks, so she doesn't want a boyfriend.
These 3 girls met at a Christain youth camp a couple years ago. Grace was a counselor, and Hope & Faith were in her cabin. They instantly hit it off as friends, and continued the friendship even after the two-week camp was over.
They found out they lived in the same town, and hung out almost every weekend during the school year. They would go to movies, go shopping, and take advantage of Grace's discount at Starbucks. During the summer, they were inseparable. They'd spend everyday with eachother, and traded off nights on whose house they would sleep over at.
Grace sometimes got made fun of for hanging out with high school kids, but Hope & Faith were her friends. She wasn't gonna ditch them. Faith sometimes got envied because she hung out with older people, but she never boasted about it or anything like that.
Our story begins on August 1st, 2007, about a week before school started...Oh, wait! Before I go on, I must tell you that these girls are completely and totally obsessed with a teen pop band, the Jonas Brothers. Okay, now back to the
story...
"Grace! Grace! Wake up!" yelled Hope in Grace's ear
"Umhuffug..." was Grace's reply.
"UGH! GRACE! You lazy bum, GET UP!!!" yelled Hope throwing a pillow on top of Grace
"Huh? What? I didn't do it!" said Grace as she sat up. She looked at Hope who was standing at the other side of the room, arms crossed and her right foot was tapping angerly (word?). Hope was wearing a green shirt with a white peace sign on it, dark blue jeans and her white flip-flops. Grace grabbed her glasses from the table at put them on as she stood up.
"Well, it's about time!" said Hope. "Why do you sleep so late?"
Grace looked at the clock: 8:32am. "Late? You think 8:30 in the morning is late? You were deprived as a child, Hope. Deprived of the joy of learning to sleep in."
"How can you sleep!?" said Hope, excitedly. "We're leaving for New York tonight!"
"Oh my gosh! You're right! I totally forgot!!!" said Grace, finally waking up. She ran into the bathroom, kicking Faith out who was cleaning inbetween her braces.
"Hey! I was in here first!" she said as Grace slammed the door in her face. Faith turned to Hope. "What's her deal?"
"She somehow forgot that we were flying to New York tonight and got really excited," replied Hope as she poured herself a glass of orange juice.
"How could she forget something like that?" asked Faith, sitting down at the table across from Hope. Faith was wearing a red shirt that had Coca-Cola written
on it, jean shorts, and no shoes.
"I have no idea. She's the one that bought the tickets!" replied Hope, taking a drink of her OJ.
Grace took a 10 minute shower. She got out, wrapped a towel around herself, and blow-dried her hair. She then walked into Hope's room and got an outfit out: black shirt with "Beatles" written in metallic silver writing across the chest, light blue jean capris, and her black ballet flats. She walked out of the room and plopped into the chair next to Faith.
"Seriously, Gracie! How could you forget that we're leaving tonight?" asked Faith
"I got distracted by my dream that Hope so RUDELY interupted!" replied Grace, as she shot Hope an evil look.
"Ooo! I'm interested in this dream of yours, Gracie," said Hope, ignoring the evil look
"Oh, it's just the usual one I've been having lately..." Grace started.
Faith and Hope interrupted simultaniously (sp?). "The one where you're standing at the alter, and your groom has a blurry face."
"Yeah, that one. But the face all of a sudden was getting clearer and clearer. And I was about to find out who it was until I felt a pillow land on my face!" Grace said shooting Hope another evil look.
"I'm sorry! I don't know what your dreams are!" said Hope defensively.
"It's okay. I won't hold a grugde or anything," said Grace, standing up and walking to the frigde. She pulled out a Vitamin Water: Focus.
"Yuck! I don't know how you can drink those things," said Faith, sticking out her tongue in disgust
"Like this. You twist open the lid, take the lid off, tilt the bottle near your mouth just enough so you get the liquid to flow into your mouth." She took a drink. "Then you swallow it. It's as easy as 1-2-3!...4..."
"I know HOW you drink it, smart aleck! I just don't know how your taste buds don't cry out in sheer agony because of that stuff," replied Faith
"Because my taste buds like the taste," said Grace, sitting back down. "Besides, I need to focus if we're gonna pack and get everything set for tonight."
