I believe that when there's a moment such as this, and your choices are limited, looking at him was inevitable. The thing about this situation that was the most ironic was that he couldn't stop looking at me, even though she was right there. His grin was harmless and graceful, and his stride toward me made me shiver. I knew this wasn't right. Somehow if you're stuck in a place where your feet resist to move you just tend to stand there and tremble, letting everyone know you're afraid. My gasps and silent tears did no justice, it only made them question. Question the fact why I was there in the first place, making me think the same thing. My whole entire body was covered in clothing, yet I felt naked. The temperature was distinctly hot yet I was freezing. My eyes saw everything as a blur yet I clearly knew what was about to happen. What was wrong with me?

A chuckle filled the air and the sudden smell of smoke filled my nose, I couldn't breathe. My hands instantly reached my throat, making the pale of water I once held spill on the paved road. I was coughing, repeatedly, as I looked up and stared into the eyes of the one in front of me. His smirk widened. He took one step closer, the ball in this hands flying from one hand to the other, and my legs were finally able to move. They began to tremble, and my kneecaps reached the floor. He looked down at me, not an ounce of sadness on his pale face. Only ridicule. My mouth became dry from all the huffing; I let out a sigh through my nose. They must have taken that as defeat, for they began to walk casually toward my kneeling figure. I was bleeding, on my knees and hands, but it never occurred to me. They were so mesmerizing, their eyes black as night.

The tears stopped their path along my face, the wind making the hairs on my neck stand on end. The thing about being completely still was the hardest of all, knowing that with one wrong move, they will pounce. I knew this and understood this, for I have learned not too long ago. As I searched in my mind for thoughts of how to set free, I cautiously stood up and backed away, my shaking arms spread out. I reached a brick wall.

"Do you honestly think that this is how it was going to end, Victor? Do you have an alibi?" I choked out, while spitting blood onto the ground, making an attempt to sound defiant. He chuckled. Their mind games were getting worse.

"If you keep resisting it will only accelerate. I suggest you take down your guard, before I do", he retorted. I slid down the wall, making a low sound, a grumble.

"Ha!" I rolled my sleeves to observe my arms, my veins were bursting. "Not a chance, you should have already seen that."

Another wave of indecent pain washed through me, my head fell back. I closed my eyes and gritted my teeth; it won't be long until I couldn't continue to hold up to this.

"Look Nala, it really doesn't have to be like this. You could just let go", came a song like voice. I opened my eyes to see the source, struggling to keep conscious. She stepped forward, her pose like a swan. "It isn't much to afford anyway."

I fixed my glare at her without a second thought, no matter how different she looked, I knew her easily "Anadessa"

She crinkled her nose and raised her head with a huff, her eyes open. She was surprised at my easy sighting. "Hurry now, we're waiting."

I laughed harshly, and stared at just the beginning of injuries they attempted on my frail body. "Long time."

"Indeed. Now Victor, stop. We need her body to be presentable", she crossed her arms and stalked toward me, the sound of her heals against the road more like claps of lightning. She bent down, a slow sigh receding, and met my gaze, her eyes appearing to be innocent. "Please, you don't have to do this."

She reached for my hand, her skin ice cold, I retreated. "How enlightening."

She stayed silent, stayed still. Frozen. It took me a moment to realize that she was crouching, her upper lip curved upwards. She was like a cat, frightened but ready. Her gaze was over my shoulder, something far in the trees was holding her attention. I followed it in question.

There was nothing, just the distant darkness beneath the sky. The weather was cooler, my fingertips were beginning to numb.

My eyes slowly looked towards the others, they were as frozen as Anadessa. They were like sculptures, beautifully crafted. But somehow along their face, you can see a permanent trace of hate in their dull eyes. Blank. It was one of the most entrancing things I have ever seen.

Their focus was completely set on something new, a perfect chance to run. If only my body didn't freeze along with theirs. My mind was the only thing racing. Fear, adrenaline, and misery pumped through my veins, giving me both strength and weakness. My breath faded to a slow murmur. My eyes finally began to close. I felt like I was lifted, I was not on the ground anymore. I was floating. My arms free like a bird. This new trance dazzled me in the most of ways, and I held on to it, making it seep through.

I felt dizzy, and the corners of my mouth began to tilt upward. I felt as though I was somewhere else, a time away from the present. I was stunned and immobile.

Nala!

My breathing completely stopped, I was descending. Farther and faster than expected. The wind was rushing beneath me.

Nala!

The voice sounded so familiar, but I couldn't put a finger on it. It was loud and remorseful, a cry. Then everything was quite, paused. Nothing was heard. I felt myself being caught into something, I felt hot breath down my neck. So many events were happening one after the other, my mind was at battle. Was I dead? Was I being rescued? Did they finally decide they couldn't wait anymore?

The scene resumed, and the sounds replayed. The last voice I heard was an angry growl.

The air smelled bitter, too pure to be sensed. The wind collapsed upon my face, my hair flowing in every direction. My breathing was calm and steady, I must have been sleeping. I slowly opened my eyes, letting bright light shine into them. I was on the ground, in a field of grass. I was surrounded by purple daffodils. Birds chirped and sung their songs in the distance. I knew this place.

My hands slowly clasped around the weeds beneath me, I wiggled my toes. The blood was rushing back to those places, I mustn't have moved for a while. I felt safe, without the single thought of knowing how I had appeared there.

I raised my head to face forward, to admire the bright sky, but there was a figure in the way, I finally noticed a shadow hovering over me. My body wasn't in the position for sleeping; it was sprawled out on the ground. Confusion crowded my mind, as I squinted my vision to fully see the figure that was on top of me, who apparently had been watching me this whole time.

It was a boy, with too tanned skin and a light form of a smile on his face. He was warm, and had an innocent playful air about him. As I tried to identify who he was, his eyes gave me the answer. They were a piercing shade of blue that you can easily point to in a forest or crowd in the deepest darkness. I hesitantly raised my arm and softly placed my hand on his cheek; he closed his eyes and let himself lean into it.

"Choco?"

His smile grew to a grin, taking my hand and kissing my palm, before leaning down and pecking my forehead.

"I'm so glad you're alright."

I squeezed his hand and looked over his chest, there were red smears along his white shirt; blood. "What happened?"

He followed my gaze and then chuckled, "You don't remember?"

My lips lined to a frown for not understanding. He sensed me being uncomfortable, so he completely leaned his figure on top of mine, supporting himself on his hands behind me. His face came closer, the tip of his nose touching mine, as he closed his eyes for a moment, reopening them now in a shade of green. He did not blink, just completely still, becoming the familiar statue I trusted. I rested myself on my elbows, and stopped breathing once it was in motion. Memories were rushing back in a fast pace. Last night, that moon, The Koens, the pain, the deal; they were all making sense now. I gasped and held my head once it was over, blinking to view back to the present. Choco sighed and lifted himself next to me, rubbing his temples. I looked at him with exhaustion. "So it was you?"

He nodded slightly, pulling his shoes on in a slow movement, knowing what I would ask next.

"Did you fight him?"

He stared at the grass, plucking one from the ground and began playing with it in his hands.

"Did you?"

"I had no other choice Nal."

"Why? You know you aren't ready for fighting him yet! You aren't strong enough, you're too out of control once you let go!"

I was rapidly becoming impatient, while fully grasping the importance of the recent events only hours beforehand.

"I told you, I had no other choice-"

"You are so stupid, you know that? What would have happened if you had gotten hurt? Don't you realize what they would have done to you? What he, he could have done to you? And-"

"No, it doesn't matter if I had gotten hurt. What matters is what could have happened if you", he interrupted, pointing an accusing finger in front of me, "had gotten hurt! Don't you see? How easily it could be allowed for me to worry? Nala, you were getting some water for camp! That was just a little walk down the path to the river! You could have easily gone to and fro in ten minutes! And you knew they were on the hunt last night! They must have found you for not coming back for so long. If I hadn't have come to help who knows what would have hap-"

I grunted, glaring at his flustered complexion.

"Choco, I can easily take care of myself! I wanted to bump into them, to let them know the final answer of the deal! I was going to say no, and send them back to the intoxicated plant where it all had started! But then you had to frighten them like a bunch of felines and fight Victor!"

"They were torturing you! You were literally flying in a trance!"

I showed my arms and face to him, "See? Nothing! I'm fine!"

"That's because I healed you."

"I could have healed myself."

"You were too weak."

I sighed in exasperation and turned away from him, crossing my arms and looking up at the sun. I heard him huff and through a rock to a tree, until it grew quite.

"Nala, I....I-I" he stuttered, gnawing on his bottom lip.

"I was trying to protect you."

"You didn't have to."

He was so ignorant, yet he was trying to help me. He was risking his own life, which I wasn't used to. Seems now I had to look up and accept the fact we were a team.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of feet crushing the grass, as Choco sat down in front of me, taking my face in his hands.

"Don't be angry with me."

I sighed, taking his hands, knowing I should discontinue being so unmanageable, "I'm sorry."

He smiled, lifting me to my feet, and then suddenly picked me up, making me hold on to his back.

"Then hold on."

"Wait, where are we going?"

He turned his head to give me a wink, "The Ranch, of course. You need to ride Cavvi again; she's missed you and-what?"

My smirk grew into laughter, as I ruffled his hair.

"I'm still not used to the idea of dogs riding horses."

"Oh, be quiet."

He took off into his infamous speed, my screams of joy filling the valley.
