"C'mon Wendy, you've got to get out sometime." Felicia's voice sounded far away.
Wendy pressed herself against the bathroom wall as she sat with arms wrapped around her legs and her head resting on her knees. Felicia can't make her go, she told herself. "I won't go."
"Wendy! Metro Station is a really good band. You'll love them!" Felicia pleaded through the door.
"I don't want to see them!" Wendy screeched.
"You mean you don't want to see him."
Wendy raised her head.
I'll take you home if you don't leave me at the front door.
"I can't believe I'm here."
"Oh shut up and enjoy it," Felicia handed their tickets to the bouncer and he passed a scanner over them. He nodded his approval and they went up a small flight of stairs into the club.
Wendy hugged her purse to her and trudged through the crowd behind Felicia. She looked up at the stage and saw Trace. He set his guitar onto its stand and walked off the stage. She stared at his face and frowned at how sad it looked.
"Mason!" Felicia yelled once she got close enough to the stage. A brown haired guy that was on the stage talking to some girls in the crowd looked up. He said something to the girls and then walked over to us. "Felicia you managed to bring her?!"
"It took a lot," Felicia giggled and pulled Wendy forward. "I nearly had to bust down the bathroom door."
Mason laughed, "take her into the backstage room. It's just through those doors over there," he pointed to a small door to the left of the stage with a bodyguard standing in front of it. "I'll tell him to let you in."
Wendy watched Mason as he walked over to the big, muscular bodyguard. He said something to him and pointed over to Felicia and Wendy. It was too dark to read their lips.
The guitarist/vocalist of Metro Station walked back to them. "He'll let you in. I'll go find Trace."
Felicia nodded. "Let's hope this works." Wendy gave them a dirty look but didn't protest when Felicia dragged her backstage.
"You like Mason don't you?"
Felicia gave her a funny look. "That obvious huh?"
"Yeah that obvious."
They sat in silence watching the band come in and out. Once of twice someone would stop and ask who they were waiting for. Felicia would tell them Trace and they'd nod and walk away. Then Mason showed up. "We're playing in a few minutes," he said visibly unhappy. "You two better get out there if you want to see us play. Trace wont be back in here till after the performance."
Felicia nodded and stood. She gave Mason a hug and told him good luck. Wendy snuck out the door to give them space. She wondered out in front of the stage and leaned against it. Trace's guitar sat lonely on its stand.
Wendy remembered when Trace first started to play the guitar. He never was that into it. He did it to pass the time. She smiled when she remember how he used to sit and play Motion City Soundtrack songs to them. They were his favorite band.
Then everything went wrong.
Wendy sighed; she didn't want to think about this anymore. Trace just made the memories come back.
She was going to leave. She was walking toward the doors when Felicia caught her. "You're not leaving!" And she pulled her back toward the stage. By that time the member's of Metro Station walked onto the stage and were starting to set up. Mason looked over at them and winked.
"Don't be a fuddy-duddy tonight Wendy! You're supposed to have fun. These guys just make you want to dance!"
Wendy nodded despite herself and gazed wide-eyed at the bouncing members of the myspace sensation. Then Trace walked onto the stage and the crowd erupted. Maybe his life isn't so bad, she found herself thinking. He must have ten thousand groupies throwing themselves at him every day.
The synthesizer played a few notes and the music took wings and flew. Everyone was dancing. Felicia was shaking Wendy and making her dance. If she didn't dance shed probably get her arm ripped off.
Then Trace sang. She recognized his voice instantly. It was strange to hear his voice mixed with guitars and synthesizer and drums and Mason's voice. It made her jittery.
She looked up for the first time and watched him. He was sointense. His eyes were closed and his brow furrowed. She felt like crying suddenly. There was a strange, strangling feeling crawling up her throat. But she couldn't unlatch herself from Felicia. She was stuck watching him.
"Let me go now," Trace Cyrus sang, "Here we go now."
Wendy listened and watched as he sang. This song was about a girl. As Trace sang Wendy just knew that he was singing about a girl and not a fictional girl either. Crying felt really good right then, the jealousy hurt.
The tears came pouring out. Everything hurt. But she was still dancing. The music told her to dance even though it was stabbing her heart into pieces.
Then their eyes met. Everything came rushing back to them. The passion they had felt. They had been in love.
One song melted into another. Trace kept watching her and she kept watching him. Felicia watched Mason and Mason watched Felicia. And the show went on.
"I'm sure you'll recognize this. This is our first hit!" Mason said.
The crowd started to burst with life as the music started. The girls screamed, and Wendy took her eyes off Trace for the first time to gaze at them all. They were reaching forward trying to touch Trace and Mason. They were dancing and screaming. The music was pounding into them. They seemed like the music's dolls.
She went back to watching Trace. Then she realized the song was about young love. It made her want to cry more. She had made so many bad choices. She had hurt him.
The lights went up when the song ended. Trace gave her one last sorrowful look and then walked off the stage. She watched him go and hoped it would be the last time she'd ever have to see him walk away from her.
"I want to leave! I want to leave right now!" Wendy sounded pathetic as she tugged on Felicia's arm.
"Wendy you can't keep running away from it forever!"
She let go, looking at the ground in shame. "It hurts less that way."
"You have to face it. You left him."
"But his parents! They were moving. He was gonna leave!"
"You didn't even try to hear what he had planned. He was going to get an apartment. He had tons of money in shavings."
"But Melissa," Wendy was trying so hard to make sense of things.
"You need to talk to him."
"No," she tried to escape Felicia but then Mason arrived.
"Trace won't come out. You'll have to go to him unless he's actually left then we're screwed."
"Alright then," and they dragged her off.
Now if she does it like this will you do her like that?
Yeah. That's part 2. I still have no clue how I'm gonna end this. =/
