Jayden

I sat on the stoop, staring at the two tinted-glass doors, waiting for the man called Max to come back outside.

I turned my attention to the beautiful sidewalk where he had thrown his cigarette butt. I picked it up and flicked it into the street, looking back up at the building. I wondered what was inside of it. I stood and made my way to the door, hesitating as I pushed it open. I had a feeling I wasn't supposed to go in without some sort of pass or escort.

I heard talking--more like arguing--and I recognized one of the voices as Max's. I started to go towards where I heard the voices coming from.

"Kid! What're you doing in here?"

I looked over to see two security guards furrowing their brows angrily at me. They started towards me and my eyes widened. I heard the arguing stop and footsteps coming towards where I and the guards stood. One of them grabbed my arm and I looked around, frightened.

"Hey, hey, hey," I heard the man named Max say, "let him go, Theo. He's not hurting anyone."

Theo didn't let go, but merely said, "We're s'posed to keep you and Mr. Radke protected, Mr. Green."

Max shook his head, "Let him go. I know him."

Theo reluctantly let me go and he and the other security guard went towards the front doors to keep a better watch.

"Thanks for that," I said, blushing furiously, "I didn't want to get you in trouble."

"Nah, you didn't," Max said, smiling, "but why did you wanna come in here of all places, anyway?"

"It looked interesting," I answered uneasily, not making eye contact, "a-and I didn't realize I wasn't allowed."

"Hey, now you are."

"Maxxie, darling, who is this?" a man asked, throwing an arm around Max. His neck was tattooed and his face covered in makeup.

Max shrugged off his arm and smiled half-heartedly, "This is Jayden. Jayden, this is my...coworker, Ronnie."

Ronnie smirked, "Pretty one, isn't he?"

My eyes widened and Ronnie laughed a little, "Pleasure your acquaintance, love."

Max gave him a dark look as I stared at the ground.

"Green! Radke! C'mon, drama's over. Get your asses in here!" I heard a man yell.

"You can come, if you want. It's not very exhilerating, but hey, it's work," Max said with a shrug.

I followed him and Ronnie down the hall to a white and black ultramodern room with a camera and a white backdrop. I furrowed my brow. It looked as if it were some sort of photoshoot.

I sat on an aluminum folding chair, awkwardly, waiting for Max. A man with black and blonde hair gave me a strange look, but shook it off. He went behind the camera, playing with some settings.

Max and Ronnie came in a few moments later, each wearing a new outfit. Max's consisted of a Fedora with red banding and a black-and-red pinstripe blazer with a red hip-sash and black dress pants. Ronnie wore a black and white striped dress shirt and pinstripe dress pants.

"Give me something...playful," the man behind the camera said with a shrug.

Ronnie smirked what seemed to be his signiature smirk and Max rolled his eyes.

Max's pose was perfect, hands over mouth, surprised expression, and Ronnie stuck his tongue out and gave a peace sign, both of them literally joined at the hip.

The man snapped a photo. He kept shouting directions from "sexy" to "mischevious" to "mirror-image".

This was a photoshoot and Max was some sort of model.

How did I even get here?

Max

Working with Ronnie wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be. We were modelling just as we used to before we dated. We were actually having...fun.

"Great job, guys," Lee said, "and you guys are done. Wasn't so bad, yeah?"

I smiled, "Yeah. Thanks, Lee. I'll see you at the show next Saturday."

Lee nodded and looked at the caller ID of his ringing cell phone, "Yeah, I gotta go though. The wife's calling."

He walked out of the break room as he answered his phone, probably leaving to go home to Nina. I walked back out on-set to see Jayden looking around, awkwardly.

I laughed, "Told you it was boring."

His eyes averted to me and he jumped a little, "O-oh. It wasn't so bad."

"Psht. You must've been dying. Could've just went home."

"And sit in my room and get yelled at by my parents? I'll pass."

I laughed lightly and looked over to Ronnie, who was talking to Jorgina. I quickly looked back at Jayden to assure him I wasn't ignoring him after making him sit and watch Ronnie and I pose for the camera for three hours.

"So um, how old are you?"

"Seventeen," he said, quietly.

I pursed my lips, "Ah. Twenty-two."

He nodded and I wasn't sure what he was looking at or for, but he was looking anywhere but at my face.

"Hey, do you need a ride home?" I asked him, breaking the awkward silence.

He looked up at me with his large, blue-green eyes, "You'd give me one?"

I smiled, "Sure."

"Maxxie!" I heard Ronnie yell across the room, closing his cell phone as he headed my way, "Could I get a ride, too? My driver won't answer his phone even though he's supposed to be on call."

I sighed, "Sure."

"Thank you," he smirked and brushed against me on his way down the hall, "and we better get going because Jorgina's leaving soon."

"What's that got to do with--"

"I want this place under full lockdown. I don't need Neil Feister or some idiot like that stealing my designs less than a week from the show," Jorgina answered for Ronnie.

Jayden followed me out to my car, where Ronnie stood next to the passenger's door, waiting for me to unlock it. I pressed the 'unlock' button on my keys and slid in the driver's seat. Jayden sat in the back, looking somewhat awkward.

"You alright, Jayden?" I asked, clicking my seatbelt.

"Yeah," he said quietly.

I looked back at him, "Where do you live?"

"704 Sixth Street but drop me off at the corner of Sixth and Rochester 'cause I have to sneak in through my window and I don't want my parents seeing me get out of the car."

I smiled, "Alright then."

About three minutes into the ride, Ronnie gave a heavy, dramatic sigh, "You two are so boring. Talk!"

"I think he's shy, Ronnie. Just chill."

"Fine, fine."

I knew Ronnie too well to believe that would be the end of it. I smiled to myself when not thirty seconds later, he scowled, again complaining about the silence.

"It's like ten more minutes until we get there and you guys are just gonna stay quiet the entire time!" whined Ronnie.

I sighed, "Well what do you want to talk about, King Ronnie?"

"I don't know. What kinda music you listen to, sweets?" Ronnie asked, turning around to look at Jayden.

"I don't know. HIM, some of My Chem's older stuff, umm...a lot of The Used and Hawthorne Heights," Jayden said, hardly audibly.

"Speak up, darling! Can hardly understand you. But yeah, cool, cool. Good taste," Ronnie said more to himself, nodding, "Fave movie?"

"Edward Scissorhands," he said, a bit louder.

"Good movie," Ronnie said.

My Mustang was silent for another moment before Ronnie asked, "So what's up with the whole makeup emo thing? You gay?"

I was thoroughly embarrassed as Jayden coughed. I wasn't exactly surprised at Ronnie's behavior, but I wished he hadn't asked.

"B-bisexual, actually," Jayden said, quieter than ever.

"Cool, cool. I'm bi. More so gay, though. Ask Maxxie here all about that."

I gave Ronnie a look and he smirked at me.

"Well we're here," I said, parking at the intersection, "and um. Stop by the studio tomorrow? I have one last photoshoot and you can hang out or something."

Jayden smiled at me as he got out of the car, "Sure."

He walked down the sidewalk, turning around and I shot him a smile. He blushed, turning away, continuing to walk down the street.

I pulled away from where I was parallel parked, only to hear another one of Ronnie's overdramatic sighs.

"Maxxie, I miss you."

"What's that?" I asked, acting as if I hadn't heard him.

"Park here," he said, pointing to a small convenience store parking lot.

I furrowed my brow, but turned into the lot, nonetheless. I parked the car and looked at him, confusedly.

He looked down. I'd never seen him like this.

"I made a mistake, Max. I really did," he took my hand and continued, not looking up, "I miss you so much."

"What are you talking--"

"Please, Maxxie. I love you, just...one more chance. I'll do anything."

"I don't know--"

Tears fell from his eyes, streaming down his face, smudging his heavy makeup from the photoshoot.

"Please don't cry..."

"It hurts, though, Maxxie."

"I know..."

"All I need is one night, Max. I want to prove to you that I love you. One night. Please."

I thought for a moment. So many emotions were going through me I felt I were about to explode. I inhaled and slowly nodded, "Okay."
One more chance, one more dance, baby isn't that true romance?
