If there is one lesson Daley had picked up over the last year, it was one she soon learned by heart.
Life sucks.
It's time she just faced it. Nothing seemed to go her way anymore.
Life just bored her.
Her life was becoming a broken record. Wake up, get dressed, eat, brush teeth, go to school, do homework, sleep.
Sure, she was happy. Her family didn't fight too much, she loved her little sister, she got good grades and was athletic.
But nobody really knew how lonely Daley really was.
She needed that sidekick- someone who would play Robin in her life as Batman. Someone outside her family that would do things with her- shop at malls, stay up all night telling secrets, and basically trust each other.
Daley had a few bad memories with friendship. There was Selena, who used her to get to her neighbor. There was Ashley, who ditched her for Selena. And then there was Leslie. She didn't really do anything. Daley never really liked Leslie.
Some people might say that it was the lack of a home that allowed Daley to think such thoughts. Her family seemed to move around every two years, searching for a place where they can finally settle. Some people might say it is Daley's fault. She needs people skills; she needs to be outgoing and make the first move towards potential friends.
But it was more than the lack of friendship that made Daley think so negativley about life.
Daley wanted something to happen. Something big. Something strange. Something out of the ordinary. Something that would break her day to day routine. It could be love. It could be friendship.
Heck, for all Daley cared she could be in major peril.
And for once in her life, Daley's wish came true when she walked into Cressmont High School Thursday morning.
She walked with her nose in her book, staring down at the words below her, eating them up with her mind. Daley loved to read. She loved how stories told of friendship eduring over danger, love outlasting destruction and ordinary people who get to play Superman. It was a world where absolutley anything could happen. A world where a turn of a page unlocked more than words, but a whole mind, a whole scenario.
She loved reading. It was her hideout from life.
This moment turned her life around. If Daley hadn't be so immeresed in her book, she might've looked where she was walking.
She walked right into a wall.
Actually, it wasn't a wall. But for a girl Daley's size of 5'1, she really couldn'y tell the difference.
Standing up, Daley bent down and got her books, surprised to see them already stacked and held in the "Wall's" hand. She looked up, but the Wall stood right in front of a light, shadowing his face.
"I'm sorry!" The Wall said. Daley could have sworn the earth shook as his voice rang out, deep and maybe even a little amused.
"I-It's alr- I mean, it's okay. It was my fault." Daley squeaked, standing up and taking her books. She looked up. And up some more. The Wall was certainly a good half foot taller than her.
And then her mouth dropped.
The Wall was hot.
Dark eyes, raven hair, tan skin. Flawless smile, lean body. He was Prince Charming in human form. Daley immediatley started to regret reading any book. Her cheeks flushed a very bright red, and she looked down.
"I'm sorry I ran into you." She said softly. And then she took off, rushing around the corner.
The Wall smiled, looking at the spot where she'd been a second ago.
Oh yeah. Daley's life just got a whole lot more interesting.
