Chapter 1

Created by HPTurtle on Wednesday, March 05, 2008

When I woke up the next morning, light was flooding in through the window. The house was quiet, dead quiet. I pulled the blankets down and put on my glasses. I glanced at the clock.
12:30
I put my feet over the edge and dropped off the side of my loft bed. I walked out into the kitchen slowly, wondering what was going on. I found a note on the fridge. Snow Day was scratched in my Moms messy handwriting.
Yes! I said aloud. There hadnt been a snow day in forever! I walked into the living room and flipped on the TV.
After this mornings strange blizzard like conditions, everything has recovered. All snow emergencies are off and the roads are cleared. Citizens are reminded that if they live in city limits the sidewalks in front of your house must be cleared off. I flipped the channel and another weather report came on.
This mornings weird weather had kids everywhere cheering. Three states were emerged in blizzard like conditions for about three hours this morning. It continued just long enough for schools to cancel. said the annoying weather woman from channel seven. Leaving the TV on I walked to the window and pulled the curtain aside. Outside it was painfully bright with the sun reflecting of the large piles of bright white snow.
I was puzzled. How could so much snow come so fast? The ground had been clear when I was at the park around midnight. The driveway and sidewalks in the front of the house had been cleared.
Excited, I went into my room and pulled on a pair of jeans a tank top and a black hoodie. I went into the bathroom and quickly put on some make-up. Red-dish brown eye shadow, a thick line of black eyeliner and black mascara. I pulled at my hair until it fell right. It was short in the back and long in the front. My bangs covered my left eye. Also, my hair is bleached blonde with streaks of four or five different colors.
I went back into my room and pulled on my black snow boots. I grabbed a pair of black fingerless gloves and pulled them on; I also grabbed my cell phone, my iPod, and a house key. I locked the door on my way out of the house.
The snow was piled about two feet high on either side of the sidewalk. Getting a sudden urge to make a snow angle I turned and dropped on my back in the snow. I made a hole like a cartoon character, all my arms and legs spread out. I tried to move my legs to make the bottom of the snow angle but the snow was too deep. My feet stuck out on to the sidewalk.
I just laid there for a while, feeling the cold seeping through the thick hoodie. Suddenly I felt eyes on me. I couldnt see anyone, but of course all I could see was the snow around me and the sky above me, being two feet down in the snow and all.
Need help getting up? A hand suddenly appeared. Pale skin, fingerless gloves and chipped black nail polish.
I laughed, grabbing the hand. I was pulled up, but too hard. I crashed into the guy who had pulled me up. At first I thought it was the guy Id seen the night before. Then, realizing I was pretty much leaning on him. I took a step back and looked up.
I was hypnotized, but not by the same green eyes. These eyes were ice blue, almost gray, but not quite.
Erm.. Sorry I said, taking another step back.
Its fine. He said. I stared into his eyes for a few seconds and he stared back. Then out of nowhere I began to laugh. It started small with just a few little giggle laugh things, then I just started laughing more and more.
A smile began in his eyes and spread to his lips, he began to laugh as well. He was probably just laughing at how strange I looked. Then, through a laugh he said, Im Erik.
When I could finally stop laughing I replied: Im City. Well, Felicity, but most people call me City. I looked at him while I rambled. His hair was white blonde with red streaks. His bottom lip was pierced twice and his ears multiple times. He was wearing black jeans and a My Chemical Romance zip up hoodie with a Halo 3 T-shirt underneath.
He smiled brightly. He had a nice smile. And what were you doing lying in the snow?
Well, I was going to make a snow angle, but then there was too much snow. I said matter-of-factly.
That sucks. He replied.
No really, you helped me up. All the sudden my phone began to go off. Go ninja! Go Ninja! Go! It sang. I pulled out my cell phone and read the message: Meet me @ starbucks @ 3. I closed my phone and put it in my pocket. There was silence for a few seconds. I couldnt think of anything to say.
Well.. bye. I turned to continue on my way.
Wait! Erik said. I turned back to look at him. Where are you going? he asked.
I dont know, I smirked Wanna come along?
